In this situation we are using form stack documents to autofill the forms and we want to be able to have the date be automatically synced when checked and I tired the IF formula but it does not seem to work. Any ideas on this problem?

Could you please describe what you mean here in more detail? Which field will contain the date? What are you trying to sync that date with?
