I need to upgrade to Teams, but don't have time right now to  re-train myself and others if necessary.  What are the major differences between the two products?  Will the bases look and act the same in Teams as it did in the free product?

Simply updating your workspace to Teams will not materially change anything about the way your current base is set up/looks, or how it behaves. What you will notice is that it will increase your record/collaborator/attachment limits and unlock new features to be utilized, which you can set up and starte to leverage once you have more time.
