MILAN, Aug 4 (Reuters) - Bending Spoons (BSP.O), opens new tab has agreed to buy Airtable in an all-cash deal ​valuing the U.S. software firm at $1.285 ‌billion, the companies said on Tuesday, marking the Italian technology company's first acquisition since its ​Nasdaq debut last month.

MILAN--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Bending Spoons S.p.A. (NASDAQ: BSP) announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Airtable, in an all-cash transaction that values Airtable at an enterprise value of $1.285 billion, which, together with Airtable’s current net cash-and-cash-equivalents balance, implies an equity value of approximately $2.25 billion. The acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions and approvals, including regulatory approvals.

I’m hoping this is a positive step and it doesn't do a "Broadcom" of buying companies and then hiking licence/subscription costs and/or stripping assets. Looking at the companies they've bought over the years, they appear to allow them to grow in their own spaces rather than trying to merge them or absorb them into their own products.

Also hope they retain the people that have made Airtable what it is!
