Airtable unavailability frequency

I’ve noticed that sometimes Airtable is unavailable for a couple of hours, and when I look through the incident history, I find there has already been a couple outages this year.

Some of the systems I build for clients in industries like accounting or payroll systems needs 24/7 access, or at least a backup plan that kicks on while airtable gets fixed. Is there any known or solid method to provide a backup system when airtable shuts down?

It’s been very unnerving to have clients tell me they can’t get on their systems that they need to operate their business.

Hey @Csamfong,

Just to be on top of it in advance, I’s suggest subscribing to their status emails!

@Csamfong

I totally agree with @Mike_AutomaticN’s recommendation above to subscribe to Airtable’s status updates.

That will keep you in the loop when there are outages and other technical problems

However, you won’t be able to get 24/7 uptime from a cloud app like Airtable.

If you’re looking for 24/7 uptime with backup servers that instantaneously kick in when the main server goes down, you would need to turn to a database app that lets you host with your own servers.

My personal favorite is Apple’s FileMaker Pro, which runs on Windows, Mac, iPhone, and Android.

I used to be a top FileMaker developer for 25+ years before becoming an expert Airtable consultant in 2018, so feel free to contact me through my website if you need me to put you in touch with other excellent FileMaker developers.

On a related note, if you’re interested in creating automated backups of your Airtable data, there are a few backup solutions for Airtable that will backup all of your data (and some of your metadata): On2Air BackupsProBackup.io, and Backup 247.

But remember that this is just backing up your data — no backup tool can backup your interfaces, automations, views, forms, etc.

Hope this helps!
