When opening an attached document in Airtable it blocks the view of the record. It would be handy when a document opened in a new window, to be able to read an opened document and the connected record at the same time (for example to make notes/description from the document into the record).

A client of mine just discovered a small issue with Airtable when it comes to the “Send Record” command. (“Send Record” is the command you can choose when right-clicking on a record.) If you have an attachment field as part of your record, Airtable will place a small thumbnail of your attachment in the outgoing email. This is fantastic! 🙂 However, if your attachment field is actually a LOOKUP FIELD that displays an attachment, then the thumbnail is no longer placed in the outgoing email. Airtable just places a link to the attachment instead. What’s interesting is that all other types of lookup fields (text, dates, numbers, etc.) seem to get placed in the outgoing email just fine — it seems like only attachments cause this issue.

Hi, It could be interesting to go further in the picture management. There is so much things to do… Choose which picture/attachement I want to show instead of the first (? why the first ?) If my idea is to show all pictures, I want it to be square or not ! The possibility to create a grid or a mansonry could be usefull. Tks !

Currently, you can preview many file formats in Airtable (PDF, CSV, XLS, DOC, major web-safe image file formats, etc), but text formats (like TXT, RTF, EML, etc) are just displayed as a generic icon. This makes it really difficult to store and share notes in our base.

Far as I can tell, you can only link to specific files in Google Drive with the Attachment field type. While I could choose all the files individually, I would much rather just link to the directory because often times we share that directory with a client who will over time continue to add files to it during the lifetime of the project. So only attaching files would become outdated pretty quickly. Right now I’m just using the URL field type but it’s one more step for me to open drive in another tab and go find the directory and get the share URL. Just slows **bleep** down and isn’t very dynamic. I’ve seen this functionality in Samepage.io so I imagine it’s in the Google Drive API somewhere. Not to mention from within Gmail, you can attach a directory right there also to an email. Thanks

While we love the Row Height option in some of our views, we struggle with how images within attachment fields are previewed. Currently, each image within an attachment field fills the full height of the row/record. This is a sub-optimal use of screen real estate. Instead, we suggest a thumbnail scale option within the field settings. This could be a slider, or simply a choice between 1-up, 2-up and 3-up thumbnail grids. Here’s a before-and-after of what we’re thinking: And if implementing such scaling, why not add it to the Gallery View? While full-frame thumbnails LOOK great, a small grid of thumbnails would likely be more useful in a lot of use cases; particularly as screen resolutions increase.

Yes, that's the idea. Allow my to buy more storage for my paid Team plan. I'm even willing to pay! But I only value the storage, not everything else that comes with moving from Team -> Business (that move just to get an 80GB storage for $300/yr seems rather...hmm...excessive; I'll try to ignore comparisons that Dropbox offers 3TB for free). I'm a simple user, and quickly hit the AT 1GB limit in just a couple weeks of learning to use the service, and have one Base. The 1GB is a low storage amount, but I somewhat understand it...Free is really a trial plan, no problem. I liked AT and wanted to continue, so had to move up to Team ("For teams building apps to collaborate on shared workflows"). I don't mind paying more just to get storage, but the 'Team' is just me and my cat. Team could be also described as "For individual users that need more storage" and 'Business' described as "For individual users that need a bit more storage." Point is, it really doesn't make much sense to not allow individuals (and actual Teams) to purchase additional storage (which I understand from another thread is provided by Box). One day maybe I'll reach where I require other functionality, but I suspect I'll go through the Team level of storage (20GB, which is easily reached in my work, which is based on the Museum template) before I need more functionality, and then will have to think about another solution. Quite the bummer to not create a Free-Good-Better-Best pricing structure where your limits aren't based so much on feature differences, but capacity. A pricing model like this gets implemented as AT wants to use this lever to get companies to move to the next tier, so it tells us that a lot of users care more limits such as storage versus features. If AT doesn't want to be in the storage-adding business that is OK, but it would seem that then the ability to point to attachments held elsewhere would be a requirement. And I realize from the Community that AT doesn't read these comments or respond, so this post is indeed for cathartic purposes only.

I'd really love to see some better handling of photos that are added to attachment fields, particularly outside of Gallery views. Far too often a photo's dimensions don't allow a good preview either in a grid view or the expanded record detail view, and the only way to see the full image is to open the attachment or to rely on a Gallery view. It would be really great if you could tell it to fit photos, just like in Gallery view, elsewhere; this would give a better experience with uploaded photos inline.

What is the proposed idea/solution? Make the date the attatchment file was uploaded visible.... How does is solve the user problems? When you have more than one attatchment you can easily see which is the most recent one... How was this validated? ... Who is the target audience? Everyone using attatchments?

Following the upoming changes on the price plans, and the huge difference betwen Team and Business plans, it will be to consider having and paid add-on just to upgrade the storage space of the Team plan, as this is, at least for me the biggest problem of this change from Pro to Team plan.
