My organization has developed an extension using the block APIs to perform repetitive tasks and run analytics on our bases. This has been working great, but the issue is that our workflow involves creating one base per project. With the current block APIs, this requires the developers in our organization to go into each new base, start the extension creation process to retrieve the blockId, then run some command to add the new remote, and finally deploy the extension to the new base. As we expand our usage of Airtable and create new bases, this is quickly becoming unmanageable, as each base requires the developers to run these commands. My idea is to allow extensions to be released at the organization level. Then, when a user creates a new base, they can go over to add an extension, see all the extensions owned by their organization, and add the extension to the new base they have created.

To whom it may concern, An enhancement suggestion from Kalypso: Improve functionality for Base Schema extension (See screen shot for Kalypso base configuration). Currently with our base, it is challenging to follow highlighted relationship mapping lines even with the filter capability Enhancements might include: Right click on dependency line to see details of the dependency in a pop up (What dependency type, table and field names on each side of the dependency) Use different colors to represent different dependency types Ability to separate the tables with either a drag drop or pre-configured distance options Expected Benefits: Improve the ability to use the base schema for its intended use to visualize table/field relationships. Reference screenshot Please consider adding this capability. Regards, Jason Knighten

To whom it may concern, An enhancement suggestion from Kalypso: Add Base Search extension as a standard feature in Data and Interface layers primarily due to Managed Apps do not currently support inclusion of Extensions. If Enhancement #55 is adopted, this enhancement is less critical. Expected Benefits: Ability to access base search as standard feature and with less navigation in both Data and Interface layers. Also to eliminate configuring manually in child apps when using the Managed App solution. Please consider adding this capability. Regards, Jason Knighten

What is the proposed idea/solution? There needs to be 'overall' more chart functions, but a very important one for us is the ability to 'split'. For example, an item may have a field that is an array (multiple select, or linked records). We want to count the items individually, so need a 'split' function that is common in other BI platforms (Tableau, PowerBI) to allow for charting of counts of array items. How does is solve the user problems? Currently, charts would count items by the specific array (e.g. China, United States would be one item, rather than China 1, USA 1).

What is the proposed idea/solution? ... How does is solve the user problems? Currently there is no way to display an unselected option from form. If questions on the form have 5 answer choices but not each choice is selected than that option will not display on the chart extension, which then isn't providing an accurate display of the data. How was this validated? Community manager from airtable said this is not possible and suggested I post here. Who is the target audience? Anyone trying to use the chart extension on the forms to display an accurate representation of the data.

I would like to have the ability to make certain tables non-readable to certain users. While it is possible to make tables read-only, in order to give someone access to one part of my base, and more specifically in my extensions, I have to give them read-only for all tables, at a minimum. There are times that I do not want specific users to be able to see sensitive financial information on one table, but they might need access to what's in an interface, or on a different table. I realize the permissions within Interfaces helps with this, but it doesn't help with Extensions.

What is the proposed idea/solution? A button or link to quickly download a CSV table of the data underlying a chart. How does this solve the user problems? The chart tools in Airtable are great. However, there are many times when charts need to be recreated in PowerPoint or another program (to customize formatting, to combine with information from outside Airtable, to add to professionally designed reports, etc.). As far as I know, this currently can only be done by manually creating a summary table in the other program – or, in some cases, by using formulas, automation, etc. in Airtable to create summary tables automatically. Both are time-consuming and prone to errors. If a user could instead just quickly download a summary table to paste into another program, it could greatly improve efficiency and accuracy. How was this validated? ... Who is the target audience? ...

What is the proposed idea/solution? Make the Page Designer extension bi-directional. How does is solve the user problems? This would allow a user that creates reports from records to make changes to a record and the resulting report directly on the report itself. You could then potentially make edits to hundreds of fields on a record from a single page view that is highly customizable. I find there is far too much scrolling required when there are many fields that need to be filled in or changed, so the Page Designer extension seems like the easiest way to make the most customized and condensed views of a record as possible, and things like text fields, check boxes, and drop down fields could be very easily manipulated from this type of view. How was this validated? ... Who is the target audience? Users that create reports from records
