What is the proposed idea/solution? The proposed idea is to allow admin users of enterprise accounts to create dynamic sharing groups on Airtable based on the records in a particular view in a base. This would allow teams to share specific Airtable Base or views with specific people, without having to manually entering and deleting names in each Airtable group every time a new employee is added to the team or removed from the team. For example, HR could create a view of all the employees in Team A. Now there should also be an Airtable group created labelled 'Team A'. Also whenever there is addition or removal of employees in the team, the Airtable Group should be updated on its own. This makes the task of HR and the team leads easier. ... How does is solve the user problems? Dynamic sharing groups would solve a number of user problems, including: Reduced manual work: Currently, users have to manually create a new share for each record that they want to share. This can be time-consuming and error-prone. Dynamic sharing groups would eliminate the need for manual sharing, saving users time and effort. Improved data security: Dynamic sharing groups would allow users to share specific records with specific people, without having to share the entire base. This would improve data security by reducing the number of people who have access to sensitive data. Increased collaboration: Dynamic sharing groups would make it easier for users to collaborate on data. For example, a team of sales representatives could use dynamic sharing groups to share leads with each other, so that they can all work together to close deals. ... How was this validated? We brainstormed and came up with this idea based on the problems faced by the members in our team. There is no validation of this idea but could be a great addition to Airtable for many others. ... Who is the target audience? Specific to education institutes: Dynamic sharing groups would be a valuable feature for education institutes. For example, an education institute could use dynamic sharing groups to: Share student records with teachers and staff. Share class rosters with students and parents. Share assignment results with students and parents. Share school calendars with students, parents, and staff. Dynamic sharing groups would make it easier for education institutes to collaborate and share data, which would improve the overall learning experience for students. The target audience for dynamic sharing groups is any user who wants to share specific records with specific people. This includes: Salespeople: Salespeople can use dynamic sharing groups to share leads with their team members. Customer service representatives: Customer service representatives can use dynamic sharing groups to share customer records with their team members. Project managers: Project managers can use dynamic sharing groups to share project plans with their team members. Overall, dynamic sharing groups is a valuable feature that would solve a number of user problems. It is validated through user research and has a large target audience. I urge you to consider adding this feature to Airtable. ...

It would be great to have saved import configs where the field mapping and other settings could be saved so that all I would need to do would be to drag and drop a file onto that import config and the data would be imported the way I want it without having to do all the mappings and settings every time I import.

What is the proposed idea/solution? Export automation logs to solution like a dedicated Airtable, Sheets or DataStudio (when an official connector?) How does is solve the user problems? Searching inside logs for troubleshooting or monitoring is just a nightmare and one execution by one How was this validated? What is the proposed idea/solution? A button or link to quickly download a CSV table of the data underlying a chart. How does this solve the user problems? The chart tools in Airtable are great. However, there are many times when charts need to be recreated in PowerPoint or another program (to customize formatting, to combine with information from outside Airtable, to add to professionally designed reports, etc.). As far as I know, this currently can only be done by manually creating a summary table in the other program – or, in some cases, by using formulas, automation, etc. in Airtable to create summary tables automatically. Both are time-consuming and prone to errors. If a user could instead just quickly download a summary table to paste into another program, it could greatly improve efficiency and accuracy. My team shares excel files of names and addresses in an “Attachment” column. Is it possible for the attachment preview to show how many rows are in the attached excel file? Additionally, if that attachment preview would also show comments that are embedded in a PDF file I would win the nerdiest Airtable user at HPU award… and I love to win.

It would be nice to be able to flag some fields in the “Import blocks” as just containing static values that relate to that type of import, that don’t exist in the source data. For example, 10 fields may come dynamically from the source file, but one might just be a static value of the source system etc.

I don’t know if the good folks at Airtable have a formal way to gauge popular features for implementation in upcoming updates, but here’s my request. If you like it, please say so in the comments and maybe we can get Airtable’s attention on it. I have a list of emails from a survey with some other fields, and I want to export a selection of those emails to CSV. My selection criteria is based on a long text field which could contain anything. My selection criteria hence cannot be made into a filter. Simply put: I just want to select a bunch of rows arbitrarily, and export that selection to a CSV file. That’s it!

Hi, In Google Spreadsheets, using the Importdata function, I am able to have a sheet update constantly with new data from my database (via a Metabase link or a Heroku Dataclip link). I would like to be able to do the same in Airtable. The links used by Google Spreadsheets end with .csv but instead of a 1-time import of the table, it synchronizes. Is there any way to do that in Airtable yet? Thanks for your help

As an end user, I would like the ability to copy a selection of rows/columns from Airtable and paste it into Microsoft Word as a table. Currently, the selection is pasted as plain text. The plain text can be pasted into an existing table, but the paste selection must be exactly the same number of rows and columns, which is hard to determine.

Hi - I am wondering if it’s possible to automatically get Airtable to pull documents into a database from a certain folder on my desktop. I have a Mac. Is Automator a possible way to do this? Any guidelines would be great. Thanks!
