As an end user, I would like the ability to copy a selection of rows/columns from Airtable and paste it into Microsoft Word as a table. Currently, the selection is pasted as plain text. The plain text can be pasted into an existing table, but the paste selection must be exactly the same number of rows and columns, which is hard to determine.

'List' type objects need a way to export the data (should we choose to allow it). The workaround now is to create a shared view with the same data and filters, but to protect this data the only option is password. Since interfaces require log-ins and shared access, this protection is inherent. If we wish to allow users to export the data there should be a button for this available on the list views.

What is the proposed idea/solution? An option to integrate my data with Canva to be able to customize documents, add logos, create invoices, etc. How does is solve the user problems? A much easier way to customize and download PDF's from entering data ONCE into airtable vs. having to re-enter the data to make PDF's. (Page designer does not help me with this because you have to input the data one piece at a time & it separates data to its own page which is very annoying). How was this validated? ... Who is the target audience? Any business owners, designers, project managers, any and all Canva lovers.

What is the proposed idea/solution? Allow snapshots to be downloaded locally in a compressed/encrypted format native to Airtable only. How does is solve the user problems? I think this would meet the never ending demand/requests to have better backup options off-server. How was this validated? I understand Airtable's caginess to restrict moving all of a user's data off the server, they want to keep customers, that's cool, I want to stay here too. The problem is data often needs redundancy by keeping it separate on completely different systems. Currently, providing a CSV/JSON/API export only allows the data to move, but not the rest of the airtable features like formulas, scripts, automations, interfaces etc. If I were to lose a base for some reason (malicious intent for example), even if I have the CSV exports I would not be able to rebuild my base. If this happened I would 100% not bother to attempt to return to airtable because I know it's pointless. Airtable already provides options to duplicate bases and create snapshots (also duplication) of older states. I don't think it should be unreasonable to be able to have a feature to be able to keep these snapshots in an encrypted format offline on a local machine. The intent would be the ability to reupload this back up to airtable after a critical failure event (loss of account control for example, malicious deletion via API perhaps, loss of snapshots?). Considering it would contain other airtable exclusive features like interfaces, I don't see this being useful to attempt to port it elsewhere. If it was encrypted and formatted in a way that could only be imported/exported through airtable then this would protect airtable's IP. Password protection on this downloaded file would also prevent it from being reimported maliciously if the files were stolen. Who is the target audience? Anyone who cares about their data and don't want their eggs all in one basket. Also people who don't like to have to take their eggs out of the basket by having to crack them open, hoping to put them back later but it's just leaking through the bottom. If you can't offer an option to both backup and RESTORE user data, then it's not a backup feature, it's just a customer exit feature.

What is the proposed idea/solution? Create / Download / Send to Drive csv with an automation so that you can back up tables or views or the results of find records action How does is solve the user problems? Problem: Snapshots are not a real backup solution since there is no way to restore them without braking any third party integrations that would need to be re-made. The issue of the record ids in the snapshot being different than in the original also means copy/paste is out of the question for linked records. Solution: automated csvs as partial table backups that you can actually import or paste into tables needing restoration Would also help with certain kinds of integration How was this validated? ? Who is the target audience? Everybody

What is the proposed idea/solution? The proposed idea is to allow admin users of enterprise accounts to create dynamic sharing groups on Airtable based on the records in a particular view in a base. This would allow teams to share specific Airtable Base or views with specific people, without having to manually entering and deleting names in each Airtable group every time a new employee is added to the team or removed from the team. For example, HR could create a view of all the employees in Team A. Now there should also be an Airtable group created labelled 'Team A'. Also whenever there is addition or removal of employees in the team, the Airtable Group should be updated on its own. This makes the task of HR and the team leads easier. ... How does is solve the user problems? Dynamic sharing groups would solve a number of user problems, including: Reduced manual work: Currently, users have to manually create a new share for each record that they want to share. This can be time-consuming and error-prone. Dynamic sharing groups would eliminate the need for manual sharing, saving users time and effort. Improved data security: Dynamic sharing groups would allow users to share specific records with specific people, without having to share the entire base. This would improve data security by reducing the number of people who have access to sensitive data. Increased collaboration: Dynamic sharing groups would make it easier for users to collaborate on data. For example, a team of sales representatives could use dynamic sharing groups to share leads with each other, so that they can all work together to close deals. ... How was this validated? We brainstormed and came up with this idea based on the problems faced by the members in our team. There is no validation of this idea but could be a great addition to Airtable for many others. ... Who is the target audience? Specific to education institutes: Dynamic sharing groups would be a valuable feature for education institutes. For example, an education institute could use dynamic sharing groups to: Share student records with teachers and staff. Share class rosters with students and parents. Share assignment results with students and parents. Share school calendars with students, parents, and staff. Dynamic sharing groups would make it easier for education institutes to collaborate and share data, which would improve the overall learning experience for students. The target audience for dynamic sharing groups is any user who wants to share specific records with specific people. This includes: Salespeople: Salespeople can use dynamic sharing groups to share leads with their team members. Customer service representatives: Customer service representatives can use dynamic sharing groups to share customer records with their team members. Project managers: Project managers can use dynamic sharing groups to share project plans with their team members. Overall, dynamic sharing groups is a valuable feature that would solve a number of user problems. It is validated through user research and has a large target audience. I urge you to consider adding this feature to Airtable. ...

It would be great to have saved import configs where the field mapping and other settings could be saved so that all I would need to do would be to drag and drop a file onto that import config and the data would be imported the way I want it without having to do all the mappings and settings every time I import.

What is the proposed idea/solution? Export automation logs to solution like a dedicated Airtable, Sheets or DataStudio (when an official connector?) How does is solve the user problems? Searching inside logs for troubleshooting or monitoring is just a nightmare and one execution by one How was this validated? Idea is to export raw data to data analytics tools (simpler like sheet, robust like DataStudio (google looker studio) or build it inside Airtable as an option to activate 'Create a dedicated automation log table' Who is the target audience? Any user of airtable that need to follow-up /monitor automation execution.

What is the proposed idea/solution? A button or link to quickly download a CSV table of the data underlying a chart. How does this solve the user problems? The chart tools in Airtable are great. However, there are many times when charts need to be recreated in PowerPoint or another program (to customize formatting, to combine with information from outside Airtable, to add to professionally designed reports, etc.). As far as I know, this currently can only be done by manually creating a summary table in the other program – or, in some cases, by using formulas, automation, etc. in Airtable to create summary tables automatically. Both are time-consuming and prone to errors. If a user could instead just quickly download a summary table to paste into another program, it could greatly improve efficiency and accuracy.
