Hi, As far as I can tell, currently you can set row heights to Short/Medium/Tall/Extra Tall. This height setting is applied to every row in the base. It’d be nice if there could be a “dynamic height” option, where each individual row is set to a height depending on its longest content. So a row that has a cell which requires 5 lines to display will have a height of 5 lines, while a row whose longest cell is only 1 word will be still be the “Short” height. This would be really useful for bases where we have text content that varies greatly in length (for example, user responses to an open-ended survey question). Right now, I have to set the height to “Extra Tall” to fit in most answers, but this wastes a lot of space because there are also lots of short answers which end up taking up way more space than they need.

I’ve been looking at Airtable for about a month now and I’m trying to convince my company to switch from Google to Airtable. One issue is that we create an assignment sheet every day some of which are of specific priority levels. Our problem is that we can only create 40 rule sets for coloring cells. First off, I don’t understand why there is a limit at all. Something I’d like to see even MORE is the ability to color cells without creating a rule for it and ideally the color would fill one single cell and not only be visible next to the row number. With a product that seems to emphasize “your data the way you want it” this seems to be quite an oversight.

It would be great to have the contents of a record expand on the right side of the screen as you click through the records, instead of having to expand into the middle of the page each one at a time? Ideally have it expand into the section of the screen that blocks occupies, sort of like split panel email. thanks, Scott

The little i information button is very useful for describing the title of the column header. However I would like to add the same option but for any cell in the base. When viewing the record in vertical view, the option to click the i button should be there as well for someone to explain why the result is that result or what it means.

It’s great that you have the SnapShot option but in my experience, we only remember it’s there when it’s too late. We often don’t remember to do Snapshots and it would be stellar if we could set up an “auto snapshot” to happen at least 1x a day. We have a Pro-Paid account. Please and Thank You!

When sharing in external places like iMessage or Slack that support a rich preview, it would be much more helpful if links to specific records or specific bases/views actually said in the preview what the name of the card or base/view was rather than every link always just saying “Airtable works like a spreadsheet but gives you the power of a database to organize anything. Sign up for free.” That way someone can see what we’re talking about before having to click the link. Alternately more readable url’s would be nice.

I haven’t been able to find an answer to this on the site, but there doesn’t seem to be a function to count the number of words in a text field. There’s a function to count the number of characters – LEN. One workaround could be to the count the number of spaces in a text string, but I don’t see a function to do that, either. SEARCH and FIND return the first position of the search string inside the text, not the total number of times the search string occurs. A word count function is very important for using AirTable as a content management system.

So, when we group the data by a field we get many collapsable groups. If would be great if the group headers have a check box just like a record that can help up select everything in that group. For example I have grouped the data by FieldA and some of the records are blank in FieldA. This will give me a group with ‘Blank Header’ and I can simple select it and delete those record.

Sometimes, we need to temporary enable some filters. So filters should be able to be disabled and enabled because creating filter every-time takes time. For example, I want to shift all the dates of a view after specific date. So temporarily, I can limit the data using filter of that view. Bulk update and Disable filter again. Thanks!
