Two of my biggsest gripes Airtable are: 1) not being able to add records when the view is grouped, and 2) having records disappear as they are entered if the filter field is not set. Instead, what if Airtable always defaulted the fields in a new record to match the grouping values where it is created? For example, if my view is grouped by Project and Task and I add an item in the Project “A”/Task “B” subgroup, how wonderful it would be if I could add a record there and have it default to Project A and Task B! Setting defaults this way would also go a long way to making life easier for those of us who use a lot of filtered views. If the groups also covered the filtered fields, I wouldn’t have so many new records accidentally disappear because they no longer match the criteria. This field default idea sort-of works now in the Kanban view. When you add an item to a list, the value of the single select that the view is based on is set to the value of the list. I say “sort of” because it’s too easy to enter an item into a list and watch it be filtered out of the view. Also, I wish that there could be a “require filter fields” option that simply would not allow users to enter data into filtered views without setting the fields on which the filter criteria are based and smartly offer default values to match the view being worked on. ... I was very excited when the calendar view was released because I track when items are received and due using airtable. I would like to be able to display the due dates for each item on a calendar, the problem is the ‘due date’ column is auto-populated using the ‘received’ column by adding a certain number of days. Even though the result is MM/DD/YYYY, the calendar view won’t recognize the ‘due date’ column as a valid field to display by. For many of the Airtable bases I work in, I am both an admin (Creator or Owner) and a normal user (Editor). It would be very helpful to be able to quickly change my permission level within a given session to be a level lower than the one I’m assigned to in a given base (and even have that choice persist across sessions). I can’t count the number of times I’ve accidentally added a value to a single- or multi-select field list, or made other unintentional creator-level changes while editing data in a base, and usually doing undo doesn’t actually undo the structural changes, just the data changes. This seems like a very easy feature to add and would be a big help to all of the casual creator/editors out there! The alternative is to have multiple logins, which adds cost and complexity. Hi Team Airtable, Airtable Blocks makes particular usecases possible to execute in just a fly. One such block is Batch Update, which by simple mouse pointer based selections, an action by action batch update can be performed. Can this Batch Update Block, with a set of actions, be scheduled to automatically run on a particular weekday at a particular time every week? Presently, although simple, I have to manually go to run the block every week. Can this be scheduled? I don’t think there is integration of Airtable blocks with Zapier, it’d be great if that was possible. I need to clear entire contents of a single field (or fill the field, in all records, with “No Value” string) every Friday at 12AM, I believe I can achieve this with scheduled Batch Update Block.
