I often find myself needing to incorporate data from various databases into a single interface. While synchronizing data is an option, it often leads to cluttered databases filled with syncs that serve no other purpose than to support the interface. The goal of interfaces in Airtable is to offer an experience akin to using an app: seamless and integrated. However, the inability to draw data directly from multiple databases undermines this objective. The need to create multiple interfaces or syncs detracts from the system's cohesiveness. Furthermore, enhancing the left pane navigation with additional layering options would be highly beneficial. It would complement the capability to integrate data from various sources, further improving the system's functionality and user experience.

Hi everyone, Pello here from Moonland. As an Airtable Gold Partner, we've developed some highly advanced tools in Airtable, including comprehensive ERPs and other intricate systems. While Airtable has provided us with a robust platform, there's one enhancement that could significantly elevate the user experience: leveraging bulk selection within Airtable interfaces for automations. What is the proposed idea/solution? The idea is to enable the use of bulk selections, made after applying filters in Airtable interfaces, to trigger automations. Currently, bulk selection in interfaces is limited to native functions like deleting rows. Extending this capability to automations would allow for more seamless and efficient workflows. How does it solve user problems? This enhancement would greatly improve the user experience by eliminating the need for cumbersome workarounds, such as using additional checkboxes, which complicate the UI/UX. With this feature, users could quickly select filtered records and apply automations directly, streamlining processes and saving valuable time. How was this validated? The limitation of the current workaround has been consistently noted by users who require more intuitive and efficient ways to manage bulk data operations. The existing process can be cumbersome and detracts from the overall user experience. By enabling bulk selection for automations, Airtable could offer a much more refined and user-friendly interface. Who is the target audience? This feature would be especially beneficial for users managing large datasets or complex workflows, such as people working in logistics or manufacturing (who use Airtable as an ERP). I’d love to hear your thoughts on this idea. Your feedback is invaluable as we strive to create more effective tools. Thanks for taking the time to read this post! Pello

Often users type up their notes, meeting agendas, tasks etc into a Long Text field using Rich Text formatting. The Records Comments field is often a target for copy/paste from that field, especially with Comments Element being so prominent within Interfaces. However, upon copying/pasting Rich Text from a Long Text field into the record Comments, all Markdown formatting is lost. It's most frustrating - and to be honest I expect Comments to support such an action. Here's my Rich Text data; And here's the same data copy/pasted into Comments - note how the Markdown formatting is lost.

Hello, I am sure this is a heavily requested topic, so if this is on the roadmap great, if not I really think this process would help a lot of users. I use Airtable for a number of use cases and have multiple builds. One feature that is rather consistently peeking its head is parent child linking. The first time this arose, and my primary use case, is in a contract management system my team and I built in Airtable. The question arose whether or not Airtable can achieve parent/child linking. The general consensus was a resounding "NO." I took this on as a challenge and after many hours of trouble shooting and testing, I believe I created a working two way linking between two or more records in our contracting system that links the parent to the children and child to the parent. This bidirectional syncs allows for various contract managers to work and link the records as they come in. Further, using the OrgChart extension, we can now see the entire contract family in a visual manner. Now for the downside. This requires 5 separate automations with multiple actions and triggers which causes the linkage to be rather slow. I believe that if this was converted to a native backend process it would be speed up that linkage time and free up automation space in our base. Again if this is already on the roadmap great. However, if it is not and you would to explore the concept and would like to see how this works I am happy to provide a screen recording and screenshots. Regards, Eljay Higley

Being able to hide/show fields in the form view based on the values of fields higher up in the form could be extremely valuable.
For instance, if using Airtable to keep track of leads, one might have a Single Select field with the following options:
Relationship
No Relationship
Met at a conference
Contacted through website
If “Met at a conference” is selected, it would be valuable to collect information about that conference in a conference field, but it wouldn’t make sense to capture that info for any of the other options in the relationship field.

To whom it may concern, An enhancement suggestion from Kalypso: Add ability to color code Table Tabs. See attached screenshot for examples where this might be implemented for Kalypso template. Expected Benefits: Enable easier visual recognition of and/or navigation to related tables. Please consider adding this capability. Regards, Jason Knighten

What is the proposed idea/solution? With the recent updates to the Airtable API being more featureful with Record Comments - it makes sense to also give some love to no-code Automation Actions, allowing an Automation to post to the Record Comments, either as an Automation or upon behalf of a specified user. How does is solve the user problems? Currently, for example, an Automation can use conditional logic to email an Airtable operator of an issue with a record. It would be useful if we had other options too, such as the Automation posting to the records comment detailing the problem with that record. Who is the target audience? Any firm using Record Comments will find a benefit from an Automation no-code Action that can also write to a records comments.

What is the proposed idea/solution? I would like to be able to colorize the full Row. I would like to set different color for the full row instead just a colorized label at the beginning of the row. ... Who is the target audience? ...

What is the proposed idea/solution? Price per user rather than per Workspace - Or allow better organization, folders, etc within a Workspace. We pay more per user on a Pro plan than we do for our CRM. Yet if we want to collaborate with external parties we need to move the base to a free workspace due to the sharing limitations. We are a small company and purchased pro for everyone - yet it is becoming a mess. We cannot even segment visibility of bases within the workspace from some users, since everyone needs to be a pro for that workspace. Enterprise is outlandishly expensive for small organizations. We are willing to pay for the service, but the limits even on a pro plan are limiting our use and commitment to the product. How does is solve the user problems? ... How was this validated? ... Who is the target audience? ...

Google Sheets has a formula called Hyperlink.
HYPERLINK(url, [link_label])
Example
HYPERLINK(“http://www.google.com/”, “Google”)
Where url is The full URL of the link location enclosed in quotation marks, or a reference to a cell containing such a URL.
and link_label - [optional] is the text to display in the cell as the link, enclosed in quotation marks, or a reference to a cell containing such a label.
It would be helpful if airtable could do this too.
My use case: Zapier finds new google docs in a special folder and adds records to an airtable which includes TITLE and URL. I have a view of that table that is embedded on my internal google site so that all new content in that folder (medical protocols) are available to my staff. It would be quite nice to have one field (a clickable link) rather than two - the title and an ugly url.
Please like this post to help it raise to the top!
