I know the strategy of Airtable is SaaS and have no plans for self-hosted version. However, at least a version allowing the database to be kept locally will do great work. Whether it is a MongoDB or SQL, a selection to keep data on-premises can help a lot for both business-wise and performance-wise. And I guess it will not be that hard to develop such a feature.
Thanks !

It would be lovely to have a localization option for the menu language.
At least a language-settings file for menu conversion and making it open-source would work. Also community can create lot of language files without any development cost for airtable dev. team.(like wordpress).

Hi,
I am currently having a table with multiple columns that have same or similar values. It would be nice if you could refer all the columns with a single variable like “COLUMNS” to use in the formula field. That way if I add more columns, I will not have to rely on me or someone else to update the formula with details of the new column.
You guys rock btw!

Please give us an arrow to the left of the team that we can use to collapse all of the bases. I’ve got so many teams, and finding a specific base is becoming tedious.

Please develop a native Airtable bot for Slack. My team would kill to be able to address Airtable via @airtable and /airtable!
There are many use cases, I have no doubt. And thus, bots may need to be configured per channel. But presentation of Airtable views/UIs within Slack, would be MAJOR. Our specific needs include:
The ability to request an in-line Airtable form (iframe), complete with database-driven drop-downs.
The ability to search a given base/view/field for a text string, returning the full record.
Ability to request state-change reports for a given period, eliminating the need for Airtable’s currently rather shotgun/spammy use of a single channel (nearly always muted).
Scheduled updates per channel/view. Just like Google Calendar can update our team of the week’s events at a given time, we’d like Airtable to update us of the records in a given view on a specific schedule. The presentation UI for such status reports would need development; I picture a “big card” or user-defined layout block.
Native notification of form-receipt. Right now we can ingest the form-received emails, and can build workflows via Zapier, but native bot functionality would be better.
Slack notification of credits, feature updates, nearing plan threshold, broken integrations, etc. Basically, anything that Airtable emails us now, should be optionally slacked/DM’d instead.
I could go on… VERY interested in the rest of yall’s thoughts; please chime in below!

It would be helpful to sort a table by last name, when you have a single field for the whole name. I envision this being a check option when you choose sort options. Presently, when you choose the option “Sort”, you get the option to sort A->Z or Z->A. I am thinking that there would be a line immediately below those two buttons that would show up (only when the sort field was a single-line text field?) that would offer: “First, Middle, Last”, “Last, First, Middle”, “Last, Middle, First”. This option would be very useful for names, but would have applications for other uses, I imagine.
There is a prior topic that is similar, that suggests adding a special field type for names.

Hi Airtable community !
An image speaks a thousand times more than words.
Here is what I would like to do to integrate a table with each project of my wordpress site.
I think we could do this by reversing the presentation of a filtered export from column to line.

When creating a view, ‘filters’ and ‘grouped by’ field, are not always enough to get just the perfect overview of the information you want.
One possibility to get around this issue, is to open different views in several windows, and stack them close to one another.
But instead, it would be really useful to have ‘magnetic views’, where you can combine 2,3 or 4 views in one window. See attachments.
Magnetic View
.
Current but not very ideal solution. (Two windows stacked together)

Similar to how the grid view can group items, I’d like to be able to group items within the gallery view.

For example, I have 2 records(threr’re 2 fields: title tags):
Org-mode: best note-taking software software, note-taking
how to take note? note-taking, study
If group by tag fields, it will generate 2 groups:
software, note-taking
note-taking, study
But I think it’s better to have a group for every single value:
note-taking
study
software
Multiple values should not only be used in filter, but also in group!
