As a business user, I would like to select a record from a list and show as list of related records on the same screen so that I can see important details without having to navigate to the linked table. While Airtable currently shows the primary field for the linked data in a column, I would like to see a tabular view of all the data for the linked records. Master-detail views are common in business systems (and the default view for products like SalesForce), and this feature would allow Airtable to displace our separate products for CRM, database management, etc. Displaying records from selected linked tables for a single item (e.g., in the record detail form) would also be a satisfactory solution. Certain blocks require users add an editable (non-formula) field to a table to hold misc data which shouldn’t be directly edited by the user (i.e. the Map Block requires a geocache field). Many Script Block scripts semi-automate or standardize data entry processes to provide a form of data validation or workflow integrity. I think it would be nice if Airtable’s field permissions included a toggle for " Allow this field to be set in scripts/blocks/API" when the field permissions are set to: “Who can edit values in this field > Nobody”. For fields with permissions set to “Who can edit values in this field > Nobody”, there is already a toggle for “Allow this field to be set in records created through forms”, this would work similarly. This will help collaborators who should have the ability to edit data as determined by the script/block do so, but not directly to enforce some measure of data consistency in all the cases where a Formula would be insufficient. ... I’m finding that Airtable does so many things right, and I want to use it in my nonprofit for client/case/volunteer management, but I’m hesitant to throw all of our eggs in that basket without the ability to locally back up the data—at least once in awhile—including attachments. It would be very valuable to us to be able to download the snapshots, and then restore from them later, if needed. (Note: I’m assuming that snapshots include attachments…that would be key) ... A table view that allows the user to draw simple shapes and place them to form a layout, and then place records in those places. Starting with a simple gridded background (i.e. like graph paper) place a circle or a rectangle in the grid and then connect that shape with a record in the table, or perhaps a query of the table. In my particular situation, I’m working on a winery production database that will keep track of wine lots and barrels and tanks. A common way of managing tanks is to use a whiteboard with circles in permanent ink drawn on the board to represent the tank layout in the tank room and then use white-erase pen to write in the lot and date of fill and planned date to empty. This is a similar problem to POS systems in restaurants, that have a view where you can draw simple circles or rectangles to represent tables and keep track of seating and reservations that way. Hi Guys, I was playing around with the “Find Records” automation and found the following Conditions option. It enables you to set a condition as static or dynamic. It would be amazing if this was rolled out to the rest of the platform. I would love to see this on linked record, count, and roll up fields. @airtable: Will this functionality ever extend to the meat and bones of the platform? I think the reason these types of feature requests don’t get many upvotes is because everyone calls them something different. Some are requesting -conditional drop downs(this would accomplish that). -data validation. -Some are calling it link filtering. Every person who requests this functionality, is more or less looking for the same thing, yet describes it completely differently.
