Making tasks with "done" status disappear from linked tables?

Dear All, A new slightly intimidated user here! My team has a to-do list of running action items as one table, linked to a project areas table. I want, when an action item gets marked as “done,” to be able to have that task disappear from linked tables. How do I do this? Thanks!
