🥇  The first ever Airtable BUILDATHON $50K grand prize winner has been crowned

Last month, hundreds of Airtable builders descended on HALO 28 in New York City for the first-ever Airtable Buildathon, a one-day, high-energy competition where 300+ builders solved real business problems with AI and competed for over $100K in prizes.

The energy was electric. Tables of strangers became teammates. Builders swapped ideas, pressure-tested workflows, and showed in real time that there are no limits to what you can create with Airtable AI. WWE-style championship belts were awarded to bounty winners. Golden tickets were found under chairs. And the AirCoin swag shop was a hit.

🥇 Meet the Builder Who Took Home the $50,000 Grand Prize: Zach Nagin

Zach built an end-to-end creative agency system that wowed our judges, leveraging Airtable AI across field agents, automations, image generation, Omni, and custom interfaces, all in one seamless workflow. The build was so compelling that several internal Airtable teams have already started adapting it into their own workflows.

Huge congrats to all of our bounty winners too — shout out to @matthewsk, @nas, @dnn31, @zfried, and Zach Nagin!

🛠️  Change Makers: Streamlining Capital Calls Processing With Sonia Alonso

Change Makers is our recurring series highlighting customer stories and builders making an incredible impact with Airtable.

This month's Change Maker is Sonia Alonso (@Sonia_AV), Investment Operations & Compliance Manager, who used Airtable AI to transform her team's Capital Call process from a 2–3 day manual workflow into same-day execution with full compliance audit trails.

Before Airtable, Sonia's team managed Capital Calls through email chains and manual tracking — creating missed notifications, delayed approvals, and compliance risks at every stage. She built an integrated Capital Call management system in Airtable that leverages AI in two powerful ways:

  • Field Agents automatically extract 10 critical data points from uploaded Capital Call PDFs, eliminating 15–20 minutes of manual data entry per call and boosting accuracy
  • AI-powered formula fields intelligently generate record IDs, assign the correct CFO based on legal entity, and create dynamic interface URLs for stakeholders

The results speak for themselves: payment processing time dropped from 2–3 working days to same-day, with over 90% of requests handled within one hour. The system now provides centralized notifications, robust audit trails meeting SOX compliance standards, and a single source of truth for all requests.

🚀 Product Launch Recap

Catch up on the latest features that launched this month—built to save you time, streamline workflows, and unlock new use cases.

✅ New Ways to Collaborate on Records

We’ve introduced three powerful upgrades to record-level collaboration: attach files directly to comments, resolve comments to track progress, and search notifications to quickly find what matters. Together, these updates make it easier to manage conversations, feedback, and decisions without leaving Airtable.

Use cases:

  • Share design files, contracts, or screenshots directly in comments for faster feedback loops
  • Track which feedback has been addressed by resolving comments in review workflows
  • Quickly find past discussions, decisions, or mentions using notification search

✅ Sync from Databricks and Snowflake with SQL

You can now sync data from Databricks and Snowflake using custom SQL queries—giving you full control over exactly what data comes into Airtable and how often it updates.

Use cases:

  • Pull curated datasets (e.g., filtered customer segments or aggregated metrics) directly into Airtable
  • Sync only the most relevant data for dashboards and operational workflows
  • Automate reporting pipelines with scheduled syncs from your data warehouse

✅ Custom Interfaces in Packages

Custom interface extensions (blocks) can now be included in managed apps and components, allowing builders to develop and distribute more powerful, reusable app experiences across teams.

Use cases:

  • Build and distribute standardized internal tools with advanced custom UI components
  • Extend managed apps with tailored functionality for specific team workflows
  • Maintain and update shared components centrally while rolling out improvements across all instances
