This is might be a request for Slack engineering, but if there is a way to Display the Airtable Base Name, Table Name and View Name with the Airtable URL in Slack that would be great. I spent a good deal of time trading Airtable URLs in Slack and they can’t be differentiated without opening the URL.

Is it possible to be able to see who else on my team is accessing my shared bases? I’m new so it’s possible I’m missing something, but I would like to be able to see who is there in real time to avoid stepping on collaborators’ toes (or cells) if we happen to be working on the same tables at the same time. Really missing this handy feature of Google docs/sheets. And while I’m asking…a very simple chat feature between members of each base would be incredibly useful as well. We’re a global team and don’t have a central location, so as we onboard more of the team, I am spending a lot of time explaining how to change views, etc. I can set up a video call and screen share and point them to the tables they are looking for, and we can chat in slack or text or email back and forth…but it would be so much faster if I could send them a quick message or two without leaving Airtable.

When bases are shared, could they be sorted by or at least visibly include a hint as to the team that the base is part of? Right now they only show up in a generic “shared” category. At a glance it would be nice to know what team a base is part of, just like in the view of my own created bases. Thanks

I may be a bit insane but in about 3 weeks I’ve put together around 40 tables to model my little organization. Each table really does hold different type of information so it’s not that I’m doing the old spreadsheet version of one table per company, etc. Since the primary focus of all of my tables is on persons and linkages to companies (currently around 1,000 and 100), I can’t separate the other tables into another base without copying the person/company tables which wouldn’t be real-time/integrated. Some RDBMS offer the way to group tables/views/etc.into “schemas” which make the visualization of relations a bit easier. With Airtable’s tabs across the top being pretty useless for this many tables, I need to use the dropdown, which is OK. What I’d like to see is some way to identify a group of tables that belong together, perhaps on the tab bar and a dropdown there to select one. Of course, it would be best if the active table is actually shown in the browser title bar or somewhere. C

how many field on the table in Airtable?

Hello Airtable Community, I find myself needing the ability to share only a particular view of a base with guest users. Those guest users would be able to filter/order/show/hide (but not edit/delete/add) and create their own views and shareable links… in fact, it would be great to create a custom list of what this users can/can’t do. The guest users also wouldn’t be able to see the hidden fields by the owner/creator/editor that shared the view with them. Best,

When we load up a specific view, specifically one where we’ve already pre-determined how we’d like it to be grouped and sorted, it doesn’t make sense why we would have to click the “Sort” button and hit ‘apply’ every time in order to update the sort view. Can we make this a dynamic process where when the view loads, it automatically looks at the sort and ‘applies’ those settings right away? Please and Thank you!

Newbie here (obviously). Is there a way to show a row (or multiple) at the bottom of the current view that could have various calculated/aggregated values from the rows that are currently displayed via the active filters? For example, I might want to have three rows, always visible (similar to the Summary row, floating on the bottom) that might have, for example: Min, Max, and Avg.

I have a table with a few optional text fields, and want to create a formula column that concatenates the existing values in those fields with a space separator. It would be great to do this as: ARRAYJOIN(ARRAYCOMPACT([Field1,Field2,Field3]), " ") But this results in an error, presumably because the array functions are used outside of a rollup column, or because array literals composed of field names is not supported. The workaround for this is very nasty, requiring a lot of IFs in order to test whether each field is populated before adding the space separator. More flexibility with array literals and array functions could be really useful in a variety of text situations.

ARRAYUNIQUE does not appear to work on text strings that have spaces. For some reason, it seems to work on text strings that are a single unbroken word. I really need this for rollup fields that read in data from a junction table, as some of the data repeats. The rollup lists for a single record can be quite long, and the rollup fields are for humans to glance at and use to make decisions, so having several repeating strings makes it a lot easier for a person to overlook important data.

Hiya, I’ve got a base for recipes and ingredients, and it works quite well. I’m able to generate my shopping list by clicking the names of recipes I want to make–this necessitates a recipe-ingredient table for tracking the quantity of ingredients used per recipe. Unfortunately, this means that inputting new recipes that use new ingredients becomes quite tedious. When I input a new recipe, rather than adding references to the ingredients table, I have to add references to the recipe-ingredient table, and from there, add references to the ingredient table, each time creating new records as I do so. This means I have to go through multiple levels of clicking “create a new record” just to say that the recipe I’m creating uses an ingredient that I haven’t seen before. I do get that it’s not a trivial feature to add, and I don’t have any specific UI requests for this myself, but in general I was thinking it would be great if I didn’t have to go through two dozen presses of “create new record

Would it be possible to add drag and drop support between rows for entries in a liked column? I’d love to be able to simple move an entry from one row to another within a linked column. Right now moving such an entry is not that simple. You have to delete it from the row you want to move it out of, and then re-create it in the new row from scratch. Copy and paste does not work, if the row you are copying to already has entires - these would be deleted when you paste the copied entry. Thanks.

Table 1 has a column that is of type attachment and show an image Table 2 has a column that links to items in Table 1 Table 2 has a column of type Lookup that links to the “image” column in Table 1 When displaying a Gallery view for Table 2, I want the “image” column to display large, as the Cover field for each item

I’d love the ability to view my records grouped by date rather than date+time. It’s rare to have a large number of records with the same exact date+time, but common to have a large number of records with the same date and different timers — at least for me. Seeing those records grouped by date and sorted (within each group) by time would be extraordinarily useful.

As my list of ‘Views’ evolves, I am finding it frustrating that there is no way for a view to inherit the changes I make in another view. I would find it very helpful to create views in a hierarchy so that changes are inherited by the child view, but omitted (hidden) in the parent, if created in the child view… something like this:

My database has a lot of separate tables. A many of the tables “belong” or feed into certain other tables. It would be nice to “assign” a table to only those tables related to it and these subordinate tables are only viewed when the “parent” table is being viewed. For example, let’s say I have five tables: Items Donations Purchases Membership Affiliation Restrictions I only need to see the tabs for the Donations and Purchases tables when the Items table is up. Likewise Affiliation and Restrictions can be subordinate to Membership. So, when I open up Airtable, it only has the Items and Membership tabs, and then when I click on Items, then the Donations and Purchases tabs will appear next to the Items tab. What’s happening with me is that I have many tables and lots of tabs and it would be nice to be able to hide some of the table tabs and have them viewable only when I’m working on parent tables that use the child table’s information.

Here’s another take on field formatting. We’d really like full text formatting and styles in our records, but as a minimalist gesture, it would be great if Airtable was more consistent about highlighting non-editable text in record displays. Linked record names are displayed with a blue background and can be clicked, but data in lookup fields, formulas and rollups are plain text. It’s hard to tell which fields can be edited and which cannot. It would make lots of sense if referenced non-editable data was formatted with a different color background (yellow) and also linked to the source record. Formula results should also have a distinct formatting style (a different cell border?) to remind users that those fields are non-editable.

Hi, I just noticed that record views do not show field descriptions. The descriptions are very nice in the table view and probably more important in a record view where it is harder to understand what a field is supposed to do without other records for context. Speaking of context in the record view, it would be super-helpful if clicking that tiny, invisible link back to the source table at the top of the form also took you to the record in the table. I would also love to see a control to hide or unhide fields in the record view. I just figured out that the first view controls which fields are hidden on the form, but wouldn’t it be nice to be able to control (visibility and order of fields) from the form? I love having a search bar in any filter I set so that I can easily find the field I would like to filter by, but there is no such search bar in the hidden fields menu.I have one Base with 170 fields in it, Scrolling through all of them is at best tedious and at worst time consuming because I keep missing the one field I’m trying to find.

When a user clicks on a card (embedded in an iframe) to enlarge it, the pop up card has the icons for the data field. It would look a lot cleaner and more professional if were possible to not display these.

It’s cool that you have a URL link feature and a formula field, but if you had a field that combined those, that would be awesome. In my library, I’d like to have a field with the word “Check Out” and it being a dynamically generated link to the checkout form with the item prepopulated in the form. I can generate the url, but I can’t seem to embed it as a cleaner looking link.

I’m using Airtable to build a team library. I’m using typical forms to have folks enter in data, and using iframes using grid/card view to display the data on a website. Since the card view has limited room (yes, you can click and enlarge, but…) it would be nice to have a toggle where empty data isn’t shown. So, if one item has an external link, that would show, but for another item, that field won’t appear at all. (In other words, a field will show only if it has data to display.)

Hi, I dont know if this is a function that exist already. I liked to delete a row through a search with zapier. By this I could have a contact register that people could opt-out from. And because of EUs directive GDPR i really need them to be removed. Not just flag the row… Perhaps this is solvable by other means, solutions and then I’m gladly to even pay for it… :slightly_smiling_face:

Let users customize the left menu by grouping grids/forms/kanbans/etc in categories. Doesn’t have to be a tree-like menu, one level deep would be enough. Also would be nice to have the option to “attach” the menu to the left in a fixed position

On published forms, the prompt that a user sees inside the link field widget prior to clicking on the widget should be prompting the user to “Select”. Currently, it’s prompting the user to Add, which always makes me think that clicking it will create a new record within the linked table. While there may be some use cases for enabling an ADD functionality, that would be a secondary function. It’s a selector widget. It’s there for the user to select something. So, “Select” seems like a much more appropriate verb than “Add”. Maybe it could be made configurable, but if it’s going to be a fixed value, “Select” seems a much more standard prompt.
