I would like an easy way to determine which table and field a linked field references. For example, the Projects 2 field in the Documents table references the Incomplete Documents field in the Projects table. And vice versa: the Incomplete Documents field in the Projects table references Projects 2.Two ideas for displaying this information:In the tooltip on hover over the column name.In the dropdown menu. Clicking this menu should navigate to the Field URL of the Incomplete Documents field in the Projects table.And same for the Incomplete Documents field in the Projects table.

I need to view reference data in order to complete my form. I saw another request for this back in 2016. Is this feature anywhere on the roadmap? Thank you, Ken

I’m using the Timeline and Gantt views for software product roadmaps. Milestones (very cool and simply items with just an end date) display as tick marks at the top. This is very nice. I use it to mark important major events or deadlines along the top of the calendar of work. I’m also doing some tricks to mark Program Increments (Time periods) as headings at the top.I can force them to the top by making sure my group field has a category that sorts the milestones to the top. Easy trick. Works fine. The problem is when I scroll down to look at stuff, the milestones and PI periods scroll out of view. I want these them to lock (like a header) so they always display, regardless of how far I scroll down.What comes to mind is the Excel “freeze row” featureSo, in general, I’m look for a way to plot major deadlines, milestones or events (including program increments) across the top of the timeline/gantt and have then always display, regardless of how far I scroll down.

Love the feature to color Timeline and Gantt view “cards” based upon the color scheme already established for a field. Unfortunately, the field I want to use doesn’t show in the drop down. As a result, I had to manually recreate the color scheme using the custom option. However, this can easily get out of sync. Would be great if I can simply choose the field.

In addition to collaborative, personal, and locked views, add private view and/or the ability to create bases that teammates would not be able to see.

I would absolutely love to be able to add an external data source (RSS, XML, CSV) as a table type, and also be able to export an Airtable view to a XML feed. (You can kind of accomplish the latter using Raleway’s Airtable import plugin and then a Google Sheets to XML plugin, but it is a touch hacky) Take a look at this Wordpress plugin which imports all entries in an RSS feed and lets you turn it in Custom Post Types: http://www.wpallimport.com Imagine something like this for importing to an Airtable DB instead of a Wordpress DB - it could be really powerful. I would imagine an external data source having to be its own table, where all imported columns would be read-only - though you should be able to add additional columns to do formulas etc on the imported data.

Hi, I’m looking for a file-linked or import-only table so that we can regularly push data from our CRM into our Airtable project management app without having to manually re-import the CSVs every day. It would be nice if we could schedule import or cause the re-import/update to be triggered whenever the CSVs are changed. -Donald

Hi,In Google Spreadsheets, using the Importdata function, I am able to have a sheet update constantly with new data from my database (via a Metabase link or a Heroku Dataclip link). I would like to be able to do the same in Airtable. The links used by Google Spreadsheets end with .csv but instead of a 1-time import of the table, it synchronizes.Is there any way to do that in Airtable yet?Thanks for your help

I wonder why Airtable doesn’t have the basic feature to select the same option multiple times from the linked records.

Shift + Scroll was working very well up until a few weeks ago. I am not sure what you guys changes, but it is definitely only a bug related to Airtable. Shift + Scroll works fine in every other windows application. Also tried the following from a few completely different PCs and the bug is still present. So it is most definitely Airtable related.Whenever you hold shift and scroll, it moves horizontally fine. But at the end of the scroll, it moves a few rows up or down depending on the direction you’ve moved your mouse scroll wheel.This was not the case up until a few weeks ago. It all started happening when you updated something. So please try to fix this one. It is very annoying and makes horizontal scrolling rather useless.

I think it would be great to be able to update the names of files once they’re uploaded; this is especially needed when linking images or files from online instead of uploading since you have no control on the naming structure for those external files. I’ve recently found that searching a base includes what’s in the filename and this is becoming problematic since I often link to images on the web that have a lot of text in the filename that I would prefer not to be there. I think the ability to edit properties of uploaded files once they’re in the base would be a huge help.

I’m guessing this request has already been made by others before, but I couldn’t find it.In almost every table I create, I have to create a “Search” view that I use in place of the existing Search tool in the upper-right corner. About 90% of the time, when I’m searching, I’m looking for something in the name field of the record, so I use this search view to filter for that. Sometimes I choose to filter my search by adding additional filters, such as “Status” or “Type”, etc.I wish that the built-in Search tool worked this way, so I wouldn’t have to create a Search view in every table. Rarely do I want to search every field in every record for a value. I wish I could set the default field that the Search tool searches in, with the option to select other fields or add additional filters.Let me know if anything about this needs further clarification.

Pretty simple really. When grouping records in Views, my suggestion is to implement the option to group records by week, month, and year instead of solely by specific date. For example, if I’m tracking call records from sales calls, we monitor performance on a weekly basis.This feature is already available in things like Charts in Interfaces (and the Chart app), but at-a-glance grouping would be helpful too.Please and thank you!

When adding linked records to a column you can only select one at a time. This means you have to click “Link to a record” and re-enter the search term each time. Would love to be able to hold down “Ctrl” or “Cmd” and select multiple linked records at once. It would be a big time saver.

Again running into issues with not having more granular control of User Permissions. Wondering if this is on the Roadmap and if so (Though I know you can’t say when) is it one of the higher priority items? You all are awesome. Thanks!

I use Airtable to help manage my personal & business accounting needs (instead of a dedicated accounting software like Mint, QuickBooks, or Wave) because I have full customization of the platform. The biggest trouble with using Airtable to track my finances is that I have to manually enter each “transaction.” If Airtable used a 3rd party service like Yodlee to allow users to import their bank transactions automatically it would a very useful feature. At that point, the only other feature Airtable would need to truly make it a fully customizable alternative to Mint or QuickBooks would be “reporting tools” but somebody already made that feature request. I’d love to be able to create a column, that when linked to a URL column for Instagram, Twitter or Facebook, rolled-up the follower-count, and updated live. This would be HUGE for everyone using Airtable to track social media. In our case, we’re leveraging Gallery View to build a casting base, but we need to be able to sort my total influence. Right now, we’re entering the follower-counts manually, and they grow stale the second you hit return.

I haven’t been able to find an answer to this on the site, but there doesn’t seem to be a function to count the number of words in a text field. There’s a function to count the number of characters – LEN.One workaround could be to the count the number of spaces in a text string, but I don’t see a function to do that, either. SEARCH and FIND return the first position of the search string inside the text, not the total number of times the search string occurs.A word count function is very important for using AirTable as a content management system.

Let’s say you have 2 tables within a single base: Department and People.Next, pretend you create a single new record in the Department table and link 3 People records: Alice, Bob, and Chris.So the “People” column in the Department table contains the record links and we “Allow linking to multiple records” option enabled.This column also records the order of the People records linked, where the records are positioned in the order of: Alice (first), Bob (second), Chris (third).Next, I’d like to create a VIEW in the People table that shows this corresponding position for these people for this Department.That way, if someone re-orders the linked People to be (hypothetically): Bob (first), Alice (second), and Chris (third) – then this VIEW in the People table would automatically re-order those records, accordingly.The problem is that I don’t think there’s a way to expose Linked Record positional information automatically through any sort of Lookup.

Can we add tools tips/info button around “Personal Tickets Needed” field in the form above. Currently I added descriptions to the field . But I want to add Tool Tip or Info button.Thanks …

There are several requests floating around the forums related to the need/desire for more formula field functions - mostly related to arrays, linked records, or javascript like functionality. I’m going to create this #feature-requests post with some of the initial ones that I have posted myself, or have seen in the forums, and I will endeavor to keep it updated with new ones that I find or see posted; and, I will even endeavor to cross them off the list as Airtable implements them :winking_face: To keep the format clean, I’m going to make a section that lists just the function requested and a brief description of functionality - I think the intention for use and the use-cases should be clear by the structure of the function. This will be followed by a section with links to some of the posts I have seen addressing the need/desire for some of these functions. Please add support for aggregations per each grouping in the mobile app (ios).

It would be extremely useful to be able to “admin hide” some columns so they don’t appear to users below a certain permission level.With no-code programming there are times when you have to create “dev fields” that only facilitate the function of other fields. But when you expand a record, you can see them. This causes confusion within my organization.I understand this can somewhat be solved with Interfaces, which is still developing. But I have a very technical company and my team uses Airtable in a very technical way so they don’t particularly like using the interfaces yet. The “dev fields” you have to create can really confuse you anytime you have to expand a whole record.Cheers,
