Hello,I would like to be able to either set a collaborator based on the value of another field. In my exact case I have a Status column and if that status equals “Needs Attention” I would like a specific collaborator automatically assigned. I can make this working using linked records and lookup but it’s a bit cumbersome and the status field is now a type in field versus the preferred drop down.

It would be great (for those larger projects) to have the ability to create base-wide views—essentially organizing one or more tables/tabs into a view. On top of that, it would be great to be able to control access to each base view.A similar example would be Salesforce’s “Application” feature, which organizes collections of objects, optimizing it for a particular user group.

My base is begging for a PMT or Payment function, but there isn’t one I can find… I am hoping someone has found a workaround to calculate a mortgage payment. Kind of critical to our client and sales processes.I realize this is not a spreadsheet, but other databases can do it.

Hey Airtable + Community, One thing which would make my day in Airtable is the ability to create my own custom list, similar to a table with entries (in that it would be accessible across the application), but behave in the same was as the single or multiple select fields. The clearest use for this that I can think of would be a list of all 50 states. Right now, if I want to create a single select of a state, I have to either enter in each state into a list on each table which references states or create a table and use a link to another record field type that is populated with the states. An alternative to the second solution would be the proposed modular list, which could be accessed across the base. This could be stored in a folder on the base, rather than as a table tab, to help minimize clutter. Eventually, I think it would be great to add in more modular items into this folder. Reusable formulas, for instance, or images used in blocks. I hope this idea can get some purchase.

Currently, you can preview many file formats in Airtable (PDF, CSV, XLS, DOC, major web-safe image file formats, etc), but text formats (like TXT, RTF, EML, etc) are just displayed as a generic icon. This makes it really difficult to store and share notes in our base.

I’m sure you guys are working on this, but making Calendar View available for the mobile app would be tremendously helpful. I’m currently using Airtable to keep my school work and due dates organized, and being able to see the calendar on the go would rock my world. Keep up the phenomenal work!

I am sorry but while your tutorial videos have nice screenshots, and music they are not tutorials. They may show an overview of how a feature is used but without someone actually explaining what is going on they are useless, I watched the linking videos 10 times and am still clueless. Please create a longer full length viseo with commentary that walks though the entire process of setting up a functional base and using the featues.

In Excel/GSheets you can automatically adjust the min width of columns by double-clicking the separator. It would be nice to do this in Airtable’s grids as well 😄

**Static Queries: **The ability to create a new table which is a procedurally filtered subset of another table. I.e., creating a table which is a view of another table. Filtered views is all well and good, but not useful for creating filtered look-up tables for other linked tables. Example: I have a table of Instructors. I have a table of Students. I want to add a field “mentor” to Students, so that each student can have a mentor. But I want only Instructors who have been certified for more than one year to be selectable as mentors. Right now, I can manually create a new table called Experienced Instructors (extends Instructors) and manually add a record linking one-to-one to each instructor whose time as an instructor is greater than one year, and then link a student to one of these Experienced Instructor records, but I have to manually update this derivative table, manually checking each day for instructors who have passed the one year mark. Hi, I’ve seen a few similar foum topics on this, but none directly solving the SORT issue with Table Columns from linked fields. All mine keep coming in reverse order from what the SORT on the main field is (usually A-Z), but once in page designer, it is limited to reverse order. Any workaround or solve as yet?? It would be great to simply be able to have the option within page designer to sort any linked table via any column via rules similar to the main base grid view (or at least caryr over those settings).

I’ve been experimenting with the new Page Designer Beta feature, and it is very close to meeting my reporting needs. What I need now is a way to sort the records by a field in the related record. My use case: I run a collegiate outing program. I’m writing a base for our logistical planning. The tables at play are “Trips” (with trip-specific information like leaders, participants, difficulty, etc) and “Days” (with day-specific information like campsite, route, mileage, etc). I need a print-out to give my leaders that includes trip-related information and also summarizes info from the Days table - but I want the days sorted by date. In Filemaker, it would be easy to update the “Sort Portal by…” option to the relevant field. But, so far, I haven’t figured out how to do that in Airtable. Does someone have a way to do this that I am not thinking of? Or is this a feature under development?

AirTable could benefit from making junction tables more of a feature than a workaround for bases requiring for many-to-many relationships. I’ll be using this mockup base (https://airtable.com/shrkWoMwtNLYAVvoH) as an example to explain these requested features. It has 3 tables: Projects, Firms, and Project Roles (the junction table). Each project will have a prime consultant, and may or may not have sub-consultants performing any of 20 or so roles (i.e. landscape architect, economist, contractor, cost estimator, etc.). 1. Hi i am looking at daily share price data. I can import a file each day of share prices. I want to build up a history of some shares so each day that I import all share data I want to add a date row to my history table for that share, lookup the price and record date and price. Does that make sense?Thanks. 

I’d like an option for “Junction table from linked field with multiple records.” I think that lots of people who start out by linking to another table with multiple value may later find out that they need to have a junction table. Suppose I have a list of books and authors. One author can write many books, and each book can have more than one author. So I might set up a list of authors and another list of books, and simply link them with a linked field and then allow multiple values. But what if I decide later that I need to track who’s the primary author, who’s a ghost writer, who’s a proper co-author, and who’s just a contributor in each book? There’s no easy way to derive a junction table on which I could put that. For some purposes, it’s easy to anticipate needing a junction table, but for some it may come as a surprise, and I’d like to be able to derive one easily. As an end user, I would like the ability to copy a selection of rows/columns from Airtable and paste it into Microsoft Word as a table.Currently, the selection is pasted as plain text. The plain text can be pasted into an existing table, but the paste selection must be exactly the same number of rows and columns, which is hard to determine.

Like a standard number field in HTML. It’s kind of annoying when I’m logging time on a task that I have to mentally add up the hours I worked to the hours already present in the field from my last session with the task. It would be nice to just click an up arrow like 2 times to add 2 hours to the existing value. I realize that is not complex math to perform in my brain but it’s more about speed than anything. I don’t even really want to look I just want to add 2 hours to the task. We have used Liquid Planner in the past and although I have my gripes with that platform the way they handle a time log field is perfect, it just adds to the previous values whatever you type in there. That kind of functionality would be great but I’d seriously just settle for some up and down arrows, I can’t speak for everyone but I usually just round up or down anyway. Unless I’m missing another field time for this kind of functionality but I didn’t see anything that stuck out to me.

Right now my frustration of having to use such a feature broken app compared to the desktop is just massive. Anyone else feel the pain?At the very least, a simple announcement from Airtable that they’re “working on it” would suffice.

Currently, when I attempt to click on a checkbox in a Gallery view, the record view opens up. I’d much rather be able to directly check/uncheck the checkbox from the Gallery view.

Link fields in other tables show up as options for a Lookup field, but not the link fields to the self-linking table. I see a feature request for Rollups on self-linking tables (Roll Ups for Fields Linked Within The Same Table). Is there no way to use the linked field within the table for Lookup at this time?

I have a table where the linked fields are references to other rows in the same table. I want to create a roll up field, but this isn’t allowed because the links aren’t to another table. Would it be possible to remove this restriction?

When creating a view, ‘filters’ and ‘grouped by’ field, are not always enough to get just the perfect overview of the information you want. One possibility to get around this issue, is to open different views in several windows, and stack them close to one another. But instead, it would be really useful to have ‘magnetic views’, where you can combine 2,3 or 4 views in one window. See attachments. Magnetic View . Current but not very ideal solution. (Two windows stacked together)
