It would be really useful to be able to set the order that fields appear when a record is expanded. The order of the fields in the table view should be reflected in the order of the fields when a record is expanded.Right now, the order of fields when a record is expanded seems to be set by the date the field was added. It would help a lot if I could customize this order.

Links that begin file://localhost/Volumes/ should open correctly in the Finder. This would be a big win for workflow bases. Thanx!

This one might be a little bit “out there,” but I think that if it were possible it might address a number of requests for additional functions supported by Airtable’s Formula Fields… I’m wondering if it might be possible support Formula Fields whose values are based on the result of some ad-hoc Javascript function. For example, the user might specify other Airtable fields as the Javascript function’s params, specify the JS function itself, and have the Formula Field’s value reflect the result. It sounds like a lot of work, but if it were possible, it would expose Javascript’s functions to users, and reduce the need for Airtable to continually add support for new functions. It might also help to meet some of the needs that we’re seeing for localization. Just a thought. ~ Tim

This feature is available in Google Sheets and is really helpful for creating dynamic product catalogues in Facebook.

I note if you attach a password protected PDF to a base on both desktop and iOS if you try to access the file it asks for your password and opens. The same however is not true for docx files you need to download the file out of airtable then open it with the password. This raises 2 questions for me is there any way docx that are password protected can be opened within airtable. Secondly I have bases with pdf attachments is there any way I can password protect the files within airtable ie can I password protect a whole field or must I individually replace the pdf files with password protected ones?

I have fields that are being populated by data from another source. I do NOT want anyone changing data in these fields.

There doesn’t seem to be a way to get a url of a table or other item from the desktop app. I want to send a link to a new table via slack from the app. I’m using the osx app

First off, Airtable is great! One thing though: I’d really like to not have to create additional columns in order to simply do something like the following: Formula: if(lookup(row_10,"column_1"),lookup(row_12,"column_4"),lookup(row_53, "column_2")) Also, I have a lot of varied data and I’m trying to use one big table for everything with lots of different views rather than use lots of different tables with aggregate tables and views based on those smaller tables. I can link to a row within the same table (awesome!) but I can’t do a lookup to a row within the same table (upsetting). This is a separate problem of course, but it would be sidestepped by supporting lookups within formulas. Thank you!

I buy pallets, which each have several items on them, so I have a table for each LOT (pallet), and a table of items. I have a linked column in the LOTS table, which pulls the names of each ITEM in that lot. I would like to have another column that pulls only those ITEMS which has not been marked SOLD. Ideas?

I have found myselft several times in the need to create joints between tables. For instance, planning a trip with many cyclists in a relay, I have a skill table (speak publicly, bike nechanic, great cook…) and a period table (May, June…) and at any period, I want someone from the cyclist table with each skill. Other example: I have kids (table pupils) who pass several tests (table test) assessed according different skills (table skills). Third example: I have national sponsors that have local shops. Organising multiple events in different locations, I would like to check if my sponsors have nearby shops in each event location. In the case of the tour planning, if I come to add a skill to the skill list, I would like all periods to automatically get a new (empty) row for me to know that I am missing a skill. Hi there, I have a table with questions and one with answers. I use form to gather answers to those questions. Thus in my “Answers” Table, I have answers to all the questions ever askey. After someone submitted an answer to a particular question, I would like to show them all the other answers that were submitted for this particular question. A “Gallery View” would be absolutely perfect. Given the correct filter, I can see exactly what I want. The problem is, I don’t want the users to play with the filters themselves and I cannot set the filter statically beforehand since I will be reusing the same Gallery again and again. Is there a way to preset a filter, like a form preset? Thanks, Tim

Hi, Using android app I cannot play the mp3 file directly from the airtable. I have to download the whole file in order to be able to play it. Very annoying especially when you work on a mobile device (which android is mostly designed for). Any reason why it is not working? Krzysztof

I currently use OnePage CRM to manage our 200-300 sales inquiries and recurring customers. I’m building an airtable that will do a lot of other useful functions and would benefit from a direct link with the CRM to share and update data. The two things holding up a functional CRM for me are An improved view, much like an output from a webmerge or cloud print solution for paper and similar to the existing Kanban view (but with improved ability to format a template and control the sizes of boxes and subsequent outputs). Now that we pay and there are many more colors available within the bases which is great. For example under “Single Select” and colored options there are 40 total colors to choose from. It would be SO GREAT if all of these color options were available to code the actual full base, so like the color at the top of the base, and the base Icon. Currently there are only 10 color options for that and we color code our job ticket holders to match with these base colors, and there are not enough base colors to match the job tickets. The record updates in the history can be overwhelming when trying to review comments from collaborators. A feature to view them separately, or hide updates entirely, would be highly productive for our team. Thanks for a great product and keep up the great work!

Hi Team Airtable, Airtable Blocks makes particular usecases possible to execute in just a fly. One such block is Batch Update, which by simple mouse pointer based selections, an action by action batch update can be performed. Can this Batch Update Block, with a set of actions, be scheduled to automatically run on a particular weekday at a particular time every week? Presently, although simple, I have to manually go to run the block every week. Can this be scheduled? I don’t think there is integration of Airtable blocks with Zapier, it’d be great if that was possible. I need to clear entire contents of a single field (or fill the field, in all records, with “No Value” string) every Friday at 12AM, I believe I can achieve this with scheduled Batch Update Block. It would be awesome to be able to expand linked records when they appear in lookup fields. Currently you can only expand linked records from the card they are directly linked to. For example, given the tables Family, Person, and Hobby. Hobbies are linked to a Person. People are linked to a Family. The Family table then looks up all the hobbies of the people in the family, but you cannot expand any of the hobbies to see more information about them.

We can use cmd shift F to pull up the filter menu, but we can’t tab through the fields.

Well hello! It would be great to have an AirTable calendar widget. Something similar to what Google Calendar offers. Minimal and clear. Some reminders and notifications would help too.

one of the things I love the most about airtable is the agile way in which i can create a table, add a field, create rows, then convert that column to a single-select to constrain future row input, then later convert the same column table links and have airtable convert all my single-select values into rows in a new table. its the un-schema workflow; what a wonderful way to work up a data model. a nice related feature would be the ability to collapse multiple records in a table, merging the linkages of each record into a single record. it would help on the clean-up side of the agile modeling process i outlined above.

When I turn off linking to multiple records in both table fields in a linked record, I can still select multiple records in both records. In my two tables, Projects and Estimates, I have a Project field and an Estimate field, respectively. When I open up project 1 (the first record) and link to an estimate, I can only link to one or create one. Likewise, when I open up Estimate 1 (the first record in the estimate table), I can’t select any records, because project 1 is already linked. But, when I create project 2 and try to link an estimate, I can select the estimate already linked to project 1. This seems to break the rule that neither side can have multiple links. Am I missing something here? This seems like a pretty significant bug if I’m not.

Hey there Airtable! This isn’t so much a feature request as it is a thought on how you might put some users’ minds at ease. I’ve noticed, after scrolling through countless threads on countless topics of relevance to my use of Airtable, that many other people have the same issues that I do. Could you put together (or display, because I’m sure you have something like this) a base showing priority levels for updates, along with timelines and a way for users to put their hat in on certain features? As a user, I feel kind of blind to the progress being made and many of the threads of relevance to me have either gone without response from Airtable or have been responded to for several years without the feature actually being implemented. I love the tool – I got my whole company to use it and we’re now paying for the pro plan, but I feel like both Airtable and its users would benefit from some transparency here. I’d hate to find myself frustrated at the pace of upgrades and seek out an altern

I want the ability to create, update, or delete records based on triggers. I want the ability to notify people based on triggers. And I want it to work across bases.

We use Wufoo for our forms on our site because you can set up a feature that if someone checks this box or picks this then someone gets an email notification. We would like to move all our forms to airtable because then they go to one database instead of multiple, but we like the rule feature that wufoo provides (google forms also provides this). Do you think there will be an option to have this in the future?
