Activate an option to scroll horizontally with the mouse wheel.

Useful on table view when having lots of fields.

You can do that by holding down shift while moving your scroll on your mouse. However it has a bug since recently and it is definitely Airtable related. Whenever you scroll horizontally and stop it will move one row up or down depending on which way your wheel was scrolling. It is a bit annoying and makes horizontal scroll unusable for more detailed jobs.

Wow I didn’t know that! I’ll try it and give you feedback on that bug.

Thanks so much

Thanks for sharing that tip! I don’t have the buggy behavior you mention, though, in both the desktop and web versions on my Mac. Everything stops as it should, no moving of rows. What OS are you on?

I’ve tried it on Windows 10 and both firefox and chrome. Tried it with a couple of different brand mouses, both some high end and simple ones. It happens all the time. Also tried it on 3-4 different PCs all with windows 10.

The weird thing is that we were using Shift+Scroll for months before this started to appear out of a sudden. I thought of the possibility that some windows update caused it, but it does not happen in any other app than Airtable.

Can anyone with windows 10 please try and confirm?

Totally agree, I’m hoping Airtable find the bug, this was for me a vital feature to explore tables…

I run Win10 and have the same behaviour, on different PCs and with different mouses.
My solution temporarily is to use the trackpad for horizontal moving. I’m really hoping they can make it soon, used the shift+wheel trick for at least one year :disappointed_relieved:

Thank you guys for letting us know. I am not sure how we should bring this up to their attention so they can fix it. It is most probably something quick and easy.

Having the same issue, commented on BUG: Horizontal Scroll Moves Vertically as well

Very basic and useful functionality. Hope it gets fixed soon.

Guys really? How has this been 2 years and there is still no horizontal scroll option? EVERYTHING everywhere else has that option. You can’t? Please, it’s basic and mandatory to have this option.

Can we please get this feature, Airtable??? I use a vertical monitor and scrolling horizontally without fishing for the scroll bar would save so much time.

A good solution for this is adding AirTable to “Ferdi” or “Franz” ; a multi-tasking application. I can scroll any direction only in this app, same functionality as web! Hope this helps.

Hello all! Great Airtable lords, will you grant us this wish? Trackpad users might think this is a non issue, but the platform is near unusable with a regular mouse. Please fix, and also thank you for all your great work!

Very annoying not having this basic feature.

This is still a thing? Also, for whatever reason the mouse will keep snapped to the horizontal scroll bar when I’m trying to manually move it. That’s annoying too. Please fix asap please! Or at least respond to this forum again with several of us highlighting something that’s been an issue for a while.

Thank you!

The same problem. What a shame. Still not fixed.

How is it humanly possible that there is still no sideways scroll. I just started to use this and am ready to quit.

Any news on this being fixed or addressed?

There are a couple of threads now where there has been no response.

We’d love an update and to feel like we’re heard, even if a solution is in the works and not ready yet.

Thank you

I can’t say because I’m not an Airtable employee. Only users with “Airtable” next to their name and the Airtable logo over their avatar are Airtable employees.

This should be working now. If horizontal scrolling is still not working for you in grid view after refreshing your browser tab, please let us know what operating system, browser, and type of view you are trying to scroll in.

Thank you!! Didn’t get notified of this, but was annoyed by that behavior again today and checked again. Thank you!!!

Although it’s been 2 years since the last comment, I thought everyone here might appreciate this tip. Mice with a side scroll wheel, like the Logitech MX Master, are a total game changer! The switch to scrolling horizontally with the side wheel feels so intuitive for my thumb, like it was just waiting for it all these years. I highly recommend it—it can save you hours, especially when dealing with wide tables or documents.

Apple's Magic Trackpad is probably another option, although I personally prefer the ergonomics of a device that fits the palm of my hand, as it reduces strain on my wrist.
