What is the proposed idea/solution? to avoid needing to use automations to populate a record when clicking a button, allow the 'update record' action to use dynamic values as you can currently do using automations. How does is solve the user problems? As the number of automations is limited to 50, this avoids needing to use trivial automations to capture dynamic updates to a record, for example setting a date/time field to the last modified time to note when a change was made, or copying user provided text into another field.

Feature Request: It would be great if Airtable scripting blocks or button fields could support browser-level JavaScript interactions, including: window.open() Functionality: Allow scripts or buttons to open external links in small, controlled windows. Custom In-Page Pop-Ups (Modals): Allow scripts or buttons to create in-page pop-ups (modals) that provide real-time feedback, confirmation messages, alerts, or custom input forms directly inside the Airtable interface. This would create a smoother user experience without opening new tabs or navigating away from Airtable. Redirect to Created Record: Enable the ability to automatically redirect users to a newly created or updated record after completing an action (such as a form submission or automation). This would enhance navigation and user flow. Use Case Examples: Fillout.com Forms: I want to click a button in Airtable to open a Fillout.com form in a small window instead of a new tab, similar to Google’s login pop-ups. In-Page Pop-Ups and Alerts: If a user changes the status of a task (e.g., from "In Progress" to "Completed"), a pop-up could appear prompting them to fill out additional fields (e.g., feedback or completion notes) before the change is confirmed. This ensures necessary data is captured right when it’s needed, without leaving the Airtable interface. Redirect to Created Record: After an automation or script creates a new record, automatically redirect the user to that record for immediate viewing or editing, streamlining workflow.

I assume this is a popular request but I think ELIF functions would be very helpful in making functions easier to write. Nested IFs can get cumbersome and the alternative SWITCH can be difficult given a large set of possible values. Converting single and multi select fields into a logical format would be much simpler using ELIF. This would likely also generally reduce the need for dummy fields used for steps in a larger function. I find the select fields to be very useful for users and would like to be able to run automations and calculations via select fields but it seems more difficult than necessary. I think ELIF would reduce the complexity.

I have figured out the update record action on the automations, but the parameters it asks for is so incredibly vague and unclear, it should be corrected. It should be something like: record to update: field to update: source record: source field:, It allows you to select a record or a field, when it needs a record??????. I love your platform, but that form (and many like it) are vague to the point of being in the "what were they thinking?" category. Thanks Jeff

What is the proposed idea/solution? We should be able to filter records or create automations based off activites (e.g. show records that were marked as Done today, or if record was linked to another record 2 days ago...) How does is solve the user problems? This will help filter records (Attendees) that were linked today to another record (Event) to see how many sign ups we get per day. For automations, this will help Customer success have a list of all Tasks that have passed a certain stage after a certain amount of time. I'm sure there's a lot more we can do once we can use activity for Filters and automations.

Context Within an automation we use a repeating group action to update a set of records. We may want to update each of these records differently depending on a condition. Currently, we need to define several automations to do that, which is a problem since there is a limit in the number of automations that can be created for a database. Suggested solution If we could add conditional actions within the repeating group it would give us the possibilty to create only one automation. Thank you for considering Pascal

Would be real convenient to have a "Run Automation now" button as a trigger option. I know there's the "test Automation button", but that doesn't work for repeating groups. And I know you can make an interface button, but switching pages and making that extra page is annoying. Same goes for running it on a scheduled time for 1 minute from now. And I know you can write a script and put it in the scripting extension which has a button like that, but no-code is easier. Manipulating the database with code is the main thing databases are still better than airtable in and if you could make that straight forward in a no-code way with Automations it might lead to even more mass adoption. I know this is not really automation, but rather just doing something in more of a programmatic way, but it could help a ton to edit multple records at once.

Context: We are close to the maximum number of automation in our bases, we use a lot of interface buttons to launch automations Idea: Now that it's possible to link several buttons to a same automation, it would be interesting to be able to apply conditional logic based on the button clicked in the interface. This avoids the need for users to create an automation per button.

What is the proposed idea/solution? I start with a problem i am facing: Got 6 clients each with 15 automations. In every Automation 1-3 actions. Every action run same script (special webhook and payload). Yes the same script is in every automation's action. When i make small alteration to script, i need to shuffle all of these automations/actions and paste new version of script. I would like to save script into 'Long Text' field somewhere in base. I would like to save RUN A SCRIPT as loader for such script. How does is solve the user problems? When i need to update script - I would only need to update one place in Airtable for example -> table: 'scripts', field: 'webhookXYZ' How was this validated? ... Who is the target audience? everyone with TEAM and above.

Context: our Airtable account hits the automation run limit every month. I believe we've upgraded to the plan with the maximum allowable amount of automation runs. FWIW: I would pay more for more automation runs, and would pay a lot for unlimited automation runs. Situation: There is a limit/cap on automations that can be run, per month There are a number of different automations based on a variety of triggers, across tables and bases Idea would address these two issues: Cannot currently maintain and/or optimize for a functional account, that will remain under the monthly automation limit, without access to the centralized automation run log Cannot currently troubleshoot or trace an issue when an automation is running, but it's not clear what is triggering it/in which table Thanks in advance for considering.
