Airtable team: Please provide an option to DISABLE the public access to the DESCRIPTION of the VIEW for public shared links to views. This is a security issue. I didn’t notice this was publicly exposed. I had confidential notes in the description and didn’t know this was all exposed. At least there should be a way to disable that. There is a small “i” icon that many people who receive the shared view don’t even notice. I didn’t notice that either. While I see the benefit of having it there, we need an option to disable that. Now I have to remove the decription from there and leave it blank but that defeats the purpose because it was description for me. See picture of what I mean: … Here would be a perfect spot for a the switch to disable it if needed:

We’ve got two types of users in our org. Some who are deep into Airtable all the time and some who are mostly just viewing information but who could make small updates to records (e.g. update the status of a task) if they had access to do so. However, given the limited scope of what these users need to do, we can’t justify the cost of moving them from Read-Only to paid user access. Unfortunately, that makes Airtable less useful than it could be if money were no object. I’d be willing to pay a smaller monthly fee per user for these types of users if it were offered. But as it stands today, we’ve had to limit paid licenses to just the handful of team members who need deeper access to the data.

Issue: The Description app is handy, but it’s too easy to edit and accidentally modify. Example: when you set up a series of links as a resource, users have to click to EDIT the description in order to get a little popup that you can THEN click to open the URL. I would consider this unexpected UX. Expected Behavior: A description should be read-only unless you explicitly want to modify it. This way, clicking on it doesn’t lead to accidental modification, and a link will should just open on the first click. Suggested Fix: Add an Edit button. Adding an extra step is probably worth it in a lot of use cases where you really do just want a Description to be static most of the time. And it would make the Description app more useful as a resource, i.e. a way to share important or helpful links.

We are trying to use Airtable to depict information with restriction on copying data and it doesn’t make sense for us to have the print view option. How do I disable it?

It would be really great if locked views ALSO prevented creators from adding brand new fields to that particular view. We had a problem occur today where a creator added several new fields onto one of our locked views, which then threw off another one of our processes — which entailed copying & pasting rows between tables. Once the creator added those new fields into the middle of our view, the copying & pasting of records between tables didn’t work properly anymore — because the fields didn’t match anymore. If a view is “locked”, it would be really awesome if it was TRULY “locked down” — meaning no new fields can be added to that view.

Hi, We work heavily with multiple vendors and need vendors to update a common test results base. We want to give each vendor read-write access to only tests they are responsible for. Currently this is not possible. Can you please consider adding this to you feature roadmap. BTW Jira allows for this fine-grain permissions OOB. Thanks, Kalindi

What is the proposed idea/solution? Add more options to the Fixed Web Session Length settings to provide lengths between 4 and 8 hours. Alternatively, allow custom web session lengths for individual users. How does it solve the user problems? On the Enterprise plan, users are subject to session lengths determined by Information Security policies. By not having an option between 4 and 12 hours, more users will be defaulted to 4 causing them to be logged out in the middle of the day. Allowing individual users to have custom web session lengths would permit Enterprise plan users to set longer windows for the subset of employees who are Airtable developers and spend most of the day using it while maintaining smaller windows for the majority of employees who only occasionally need to view data in Airtable. How was this validated? Confirmed possible acceptable solutions with Information Security professionals Who is the target audience? ...

In the options for different interface types, the only way to get a table is through starting with a blank interface and adding a table element in. This often causes scrolling issues between the whole page and within the table, and overall is is a very clunky way to get a table interface. Can a new interface be made that is just a table, similar to the list interface, but with the functionality of a table. It would be the same as the table view under the data tab, but having it as an interface gives a lot more control over access to it and sharing between other people. If this could be added it would also solve Allow what users can see/access individual Views in the same table as @TheTimeSavingCo commented on this.

Allow the Admin account to share specific views to users, and revoke access to others. This would be a page where I can add or remove users access to the specific view. This should also be similar in the Permissions options, where users can be an editor, viewer, commenter, but have it so they can have different permissions in different views. This means that a user may have access to 'View 1' and 'View 2', but not 'View 3', and this user is able to edit in 'View 1' but not in 'View 2' and cannot see or edit in 'View 3'

What is the proposed idea/solution? ...Allow a base to be created and made private on a shared workspace. How does is solve the user problems? ...Users should be able to be a part of workspace, but create a private base to get access to features of the workspace that are not available in the free workspace. Currently the workaround is to only share specific bases with other users in the company, and this is a pain due to multiple people being collaborators so we have multiple owners of the system, instead of just one person. Who is the target audience? ...All users
