We’ve been encouraging our team to use Interfaces instead of going into the bases since it creates a cleaner, more controlled environment in which to do work. However, we are running into a big problem for communication. Our Interfaces are mostly set to be filtered by “Current User” based on a collaborator field, so everyone sees only things relevant to themselves upon opening the page – overall an awesome feature! The problem occurs with commenting – if someone comments on a record in their Interface and someone else clicks on the notification, it takes them to the same Interface page. BUT because that Interface is adjusted to their username, the record is filtered out. Thus the notification leads nowhere and the record is untraceable. We’ve had to go back to copying record URLs and commenting on things in Slack, which is a ridiculous step backwards! (Also, please show the notifications bell at the top of Interface pages so I don’t have to remember to go into the base to check!) ... View more

Airtable currently supports the importing and exporting of .ics calendar files, but the calendar view doesn’t properly support displaying all-day events — even when those all day events are perfectly formatted to the .ics standard. The calendar view incorrectly displays all-day events as blocking out all 24 hours of the day, instead of simply displaying the all day event at the top of the day. This applies to both: All-day events that take up one day. (The workaround for this is to make the start date & end date perfectly identical to each other, or just make the event a small 15 or 30 minute event.) AND All-day events that take up multiple days. It would be fantastic to be able to select a “custom” or “configured” option for field types in tables. Specifically, I have some tables with many fields. Some of the fields use the “single select” type. I have 10 options for my single select type that I use repeatedly thru my table. So, in many locations in my table, I am checking for different things(different field name), but, the single select options are identical for both fields. For example, I may have single select predefined options such as “yes”, “no”, or “manager would not approve” and I use those for many of my fields. Currently, we create new bases every few weeks as things change in our workflow. This new base is created by duplicating an old base, deleteing the field data, and then changing some, but not always all of the field names. This is done, so that I don’t have to retype all 10 options for the “single select” answers in my fields. I can duplicate fields as well, but, this leads to more work as not all of my fields are the same type, and then I have to move them to where I need them located in my table and such. Ideally, my work flow would go like this: Create a new Base (either by duplicating or importing a CSV file) When selecting a field type, and typing in my predefined options, I would be able to give those predefined options a name (save my predefined options as an object for later use)(object would be given a name, so I could easily reference it later in other field type setups) When I move to another field, I can select field type to be the same “single select” type with the previously defined and saved custom predefined options, so that I don’t have to type all ten predefined options again, or mess with duplicating a field, changing the name, and then moving it sometimes 50 or more fields away from the original field. Summary-It is fantastic that we can duplicate a field and have those predefined options duplicate, but, it would be more fantastic in some cases to create a predefined options object, and then be able to select that object in other fields. ... Duration fields are awesomely useful. However, if one wants to simply transfer the displayed duration (e.g. 1:45) to another field via a formula, Airtable passes along the stored value in seconds. Converting that back into a duration-like display is doable, but a little tricky, as I found out in this recent discussion: Convert Seconds to h:mm in forumla Ask the community I’m having trouble with something that seems very simple. I’d like where it says “0.9 available” for it to show that time formatted as “h:mm”, as it does in the “Time Available” field next to it. My suggestion: expand the TIMESTR() function’s capabilities to also convert durations into strings. I suppose a new function named something like DURSTR() might also work, but because durations are all about time, wrapping that conversion into TIMESTR() feels like it makes more sense. ... This isn’t super high priority, because I know that we can accomplish this using Airtable’s API or the scripting block or great tools like this one, but it would be super cool if we could do this upon importing a CSV file into Airtable: If a CSV file has a column of URL’s that each represent a publicly-accessible image somewhere, it would be cool to be able to directly import that CSV file into Airtable, and be able to map that column of URL’s directly into an Attachment field. Then, upon importing the URL’s, Airtable could download the images at those URL’s into the Attachment field. Alternatively, it would be equally cool if we could import the URL’s on the CSV file into a URL field in Airtable, and then upon converting the URL field to an Attachment field, Airtable would download the images at those URL’s. ...
