Limit Form to domain by validating email address

I would like to be able to limit form submissions to a specific email domain but not require form submitters to sign up for airtable accounts. So I would like to check that the domain matches and then email the user with a “Validate Your Email” that includes a hyperlink that they can click on to confirm their email.

Dynamic Row Height

Hi,As far as I can tell, currently you can set row heights to Short/Medium/Tall/Extra Tall. This height setting is applied to every row in the base.It’d be nice if there could be a “dynamic height” option, where each individual row is set to a height depending on its longest content. So a row that has a cell which requires 5 lines to display will have a height of 5 lines, while a row whose longest cell is only 1 word will be still be the “Short” height.This would be really useful for bases where we have text content that varies greatly in length (for example, user responses to an open-ended survey question). Right now, I have to set the height to “Extra Tall” to fit in most answers, but this wastes a lot of space because there are also lots of short answers which end up taking up way more space than they need.

Pivot Table Print

I see that Gantt Chart can now be printed (pdf), how about similar functionality for the Pivot Table!!! With my pivot table always updating to reflect my current month data it would be ideal to pdf a monthly snap shot and compare month-over-month differences and results.

Improvements to lookup fields

It’s awesome that lookup fields automatically bring in data from other tables, and that these lookup fields always keep their data constantly updated in real-time between the multiple tables.However, sometimes we want to lookup data from Table A into Table B, and KEEP THAT DATA STATIC in Table B. In other words, we DON’T want the lookup data in Table B to be constantly updated.The #1 classic example of this is creating an invoice in an invoice table that looks up prices from a products table. For historical accounting purposes & historical tax reporting purposes, it is very important that each invoice ALWAYS stays at the EXACT SAME PRICE after submitting the invoice to a client.But with Airtable’s lookup fields, whenever we increase prices in our products table, all of our old historical invoices also increase their prices as well. In reality, we only want the new prices to affect NEW INVOICES moving forward. We still want to keep all of our old invoices locked down to their old pr

Nesting conditinal logic and repeating group actions in an automation

ContextWithin an automation we use a repeating group action to update a set of records. We may want to update each of these records differently depending on a condition.Currently, we need to define several automations to do that, which is a problem since there is a limit in the number of automations that can be created for a database.Suggested solutionIf we could add conditional actions within the repeating group it would give us the possibilty to create only one automation.Thank you for consideringPascal

Add ability to annotate PDFs

What is the proposed idea/solution?Add PDF as supported file type for attachment annotations.How does is solve the user problems?This would allow more robust proofing & approval workflows than what Airtable currently allows. PDF is a standard format for this workflow and not being able to annotate drives users to seek external solutions or move to alternate platforms.How was this validated?This is a standard need, and the attachment annotations help page confirms that PDF is not a supported file type.Who is the target audience?Marketing & Creative teams, Sales teams, Legal teams/contract review, any other teams that need to be able to annotate PDFs vs. just images or videos.

Better automation troubleshooting: Instant failure notifications + activity log for whole bases

This seems obvious, and I guess there is a back-end reason it's not already the case. But there are several limitations in airtable that make automation troubleshooting more difficult than it needs to be.It would be infinitely more helpful if airtable's failed automation notifications were instant. There's always a delay of at least a few minutes, but often much longer. The delay, combined with the lack of suggestion 2, makes it quite hard to piece together why an automation has failed (usually we are entering data, going back to another job, and seeing an automation failed notification in the emails later) - so it's not that easy to trace the steps back to find out what action triggered the failure.Activity log for whole base. Rather than needing to check trash logs, individual record logs, etc, it would be really helpful to have all of this info collated in one space. Ideally this log would also included failed automation runs.When there are complicated automations that fir

Embed an Interface into Softr

I am using Airtable and Softr to create a webpage for my nonprofit. One feature that is essential for this app is for the users to be able to edit and view data that is grouped by a particular value (an article's name, in my case). I find it very frustrating that Airtable only allows for views to be embedded, which do not allow inline editing, although they offer interface design which does allow for inline editing, but is not supported to embed. Having flipped through Airtable and Softr community platforms, there have been many requests dating back to over 3 years ago now, with no update. One use said "they don't seem to care". If that is the case, I need to find a new platform because this is an essential feature for the functionality of my page. @dashler78 Can you please provide the community with an expected timeline for this feature, or for an explanation of why it is not offered? Thank you.

Show Shared Items by Default from Account Home

Requested change: On the account home page either include shared bases, interfaces, and workspaces under "All Workspaces" or add a separate "Shared with Me" item below the All Workspaces menu button/chevron.Reasoning: Newer users often are unable to easily find shared interfaces and bases after responding to the initial invite.  Many if not most users' first experience with Airtable comes via sharing, and they should be able to go to Airtable.com, log in, and immediately see what has been shared with them.  Users may naturally select "All Workspaces" but this will not lead them to the shared items.  Even selecting Home may not show the shared items if the filter is set to "Opened by You." All filters should be off upon the initial landing view so that everything the user is authorized for is visible, whether shared or user created and regardless of open status.See Google Drive screenshot for what this can look like and what would be familiar to many users.

Add an action after a repeat group

What is the proposed idea/solution?There is currently no way to add an action after a repeat group in an automation, if i'm correct. This would however be very helpful.How does is solve the user problems?Currently i need to put in place workarounds to launch a step 2 automation after the step 1 has been completed, using delayed automations based on now() function etc.How was this validated?...Who is the target audience?does anyone know if this was already submitted ? and how to check the community interest in it ? Thanks

Automation History Tracking

Maybe Zapier has spoiled me, but it would be really nice to get a little more granular detail on our automation runs within our bases/workspaces. Right now, the only way to see any form of metadata re: automations is to go to individual automation’s run history, or to have admin privileges and see how many runs are left in your quota for that exact live billing period/month.I know it’s probably out of scope for this product to offer as granular of detail on these things as Zapier, but being able to look at run quantities from previous months/billing periods, or being able to see which automations are using most of the runs we have allocated would be really really nice from an operational standpoint!

Increase width or decrease text size in kanban cards

(I’m trialing Kanban to see if it makes sense to [try to] get our person team to switch from Asana) Because of each Kanban column is so thin, and the font for the title of the card is so large, only a few words from the record’s title fit in the card, and I often need to click on the card to understand what it is about. This is the case even after I significantly shortened the titles. One possible solution would be to make the font size smaller, or customizable. Another possible solution could be to make the width of columns customizable. Right now I have a board with 4 columns, and the right half of my screen is completely empty, which doesn’t make sense considering I can’t even read the short titles in full. If I could make columns wider, I’d be able to see the full text. However, this would only fix the problem for boards with few columns. For boards with more columns, we’d still need another fix, like making text smaller or skinnier. – Currently because the kanban columns are very

Microsoft PowerApps Connector

Microsoft PowerApps, Power BI, and Flow would be incredibly well paired with Airtable. Our team uses Airtable these days for just about everything. We also happen to like Microsoft’s plans for the Common Data Model that PowerApps is using and really appreciate the insights that Power BI is giving us into our data. We think that we could build some incredible apps and dashboards if Airtable submitted their own connector to Microsoft here: https://flow.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/calling-all-saas-apps-now-you-can-build-your-own-connector-for-flow-and-logic-apps I also think it would just be great marketing to have Airtable featured in the list of supported connectors. Think about all the people that are currently using SharePoint Lists, Excel Spreadsheets, and Access databases that would be much better suited to using Airtable to host their data.

Formulas for formatting only

Airtable already depends on pre-defined formatting. And to certain degree formatting is configurable. Some fields might have different `actual value` and `presented value` by default - for example the datepicker, duration or percentage field.This is great! It makes the field both user friendly and well usable within automation and scripts and filtering, sorting.I think it would be awesome if this pattern would expand further:Often we're using formula fields. To some degree there's a possibility to format the formula field: as number, currency or even map it to single select options.What if in the formatting tab, there would be an option for "formula"? Airtable on Apple Watch

I would like to see app for Airtable on Apple watch. For example if I had an investments table with columns for stocks and notes I would like to be able to step through the records to see the notes I have added for each on my watch. Perhaps I could select the columns I would like to view.

Bulk Delete Views

I would like to request the ability to bulk delete views. For my business, I create 30+ views to manage smaller segments of data. I do this for the purpose of creating embed codes to display on my website. This data changes seasonally, so each change in season I have to delete older views. This can be cumbersome, as I have to navigate to each individual view and delete them one at a time. Perhaps there could be a checkbox function in the view list that allows me to select multiple views and then delete them from the view dropdown, rather than just in the individual view options?

Org Charts on Interfaces

I would love to see the ability to put Org Charts on an Interface. Our base is quite big, so Extensions load slowly and the dashboards take a while to navigate through, and it’s a pain to have to make a new views for each different org chart block. If we could take that feature and insert it on an Interface, our project leads would be able to see task relationships so much faster, all in one place (with the right configurations), and without the clutter of the rest of the base’s inner workings!

View Sections Enhancements (Nested Sections, Duplications, & Deletions)

To keep this relatively simple, this suggestion boils down to one thing: enhancing view sections. While view sections are relatively new, they have already been incredibly useful for our team. They not only clean up our Views, but they help sort information into categories. However, I think View Sections may benefit from a couple of enhancements: Duplication would be incredibly nice. When you right click on a view, it has the option to rename, delete, and duplicate it. Why not add duplications to the sections as well? This would duplicate the section along with all of the views in the section. This could make doing views per collaborator much easier. The ability to nest sections could be handy too. We use our bases to organize trips. Ideally, we would have all trips in one base, and have views that filter applicants per trip. However, we have several collaborators per trip. Seemingly, it should be as simple as creating 1 view section per collaborator containing all of their trip vie

Feature Request / Suggestion

Suggestion to add a new Field type in air table : Time Stampes logs / notes.Ie. a type of field that keeps the history of all the notes taken, and each time a new note is written, it saved it with the date and time. Example : 2020-09-07 - 1:42pmJust had a call with prospect. Interested to try out the product but concerned about the price. Next step is to book a demo 2020-09-03 - 3:52pmLead has not responded to my email yet, waiting for a reply EDIT - The above would be contained in one cell of a row only. I understand that you can create a timed log separately and link each of these time logs to one contact or one account for instance, but what I am suggesting here is to have the whole list of timestamped comments as one “cell” for a given contact, which would offer an alternative and make its usage more practical to update I feel

Ability to remove vertical lines from milestones in Gantt view

I'm a PM at a Product company and we've been using the Gantt view to build all of our schedules! One function that would be extremely helpful is the ability to add or remove the vertical lines that run through milestones, depending on how we want it visualized. Example: We have a Mile High view that displays only milestones for multiple projects across the company. With so much overlap, the vertical lines become extremely condensed and messy quickly. Our goal is to have one, visually clean view that we can return to on a monthly basis and review with a cross-functional team to track milestones across the company.Would love any suggestions here!

Regular expression field validation in forms

I switched from Airtable from Google Sheets/Forms a while ago and while I love it, I am really missing having the data validation features of Google Forms. I have a lot of forms that have very specific formatting for how data needs to be entered and it would be great to force my users to enter it correctly instead of expecting them to follow the help text, because they don’t.

Open Record Detail Variants via button

What is the proposed idea/solution?This is a crosspost in the actual 'ideas' forum. I originally proposed this hereWhen opening a record details page (sidesheet/full page), I'd like to be able to press a button to open the same record details but in a different, customized record detail page.I have so many customized record detail pages that I would love to make use of, but the only way to currently do that is in a different interface page, or use the 'open url in record' hack that has to reload the entire page to work, which is a bit clunky.How does is solve the user problems?Simple use case: open record details to view information that is not edit'able, click button to open the edit'able version of the record.How was this validated?I use hacks on every single one of my airtable apps to do this already.Who is the target audience?Honestly, I can imagine just about every interface-builder would use this. Save forms as drafts

What is the proposed idea/solution?I'd like to have the ability to save draft forms before sending them and recall them later.How does is solve the user problems?A user can start filling out a form, save the answers entered and complete the form at a later time, for example if they need to collect information to be able to answer everything.Who is the target audience?Anyone who uses a form to collect complex information, which requires time to fill out or the need to collect additional information.

Product Suggestion: allow column headers to wrap field names onto multiple lines

It would be a real game-changer — and totally awesome — if the column headers at the top of Airtable’s grid view would wrap lengthy field names onto multiple lines.Other spreadsheet programs allow for variable heights of the column headers — we should have the same capability in Airtable.Currently, Airtable cuts off the text of lengthy field names, but it’s our only choice if we want to keep our columns tight & narrow. If we want to see long field names, we are required to keep our columns extra-wide, which wastes a lot of screen space.Check out the screenshot below for an example of this problem. Notice how much wasted space there is, simply because we want to see the field names above.Our users often request descriptive field names so that they can understand exactly what they are looking at in the rows below.
