Hello,I am trying to filter records by a lookup field. I want all the records that contain that specific item, and only those items. However, because the filter options are only “contain,” “does not contain,” “is empty,” and “is not empty” AND because some of my items are contained with each other (“Technical Director” and “Assistant Technical Director”) I cannot filter the way I want to. For example, if I select “contains Technical Director” that pulls up records with both Technical Director and/or Assistant Technical Director. I can’t filter out “Assistant Technical Director” records because thatWouldn’t it be fantastic if the filter terms for lookup records were the same as the filter terms for multiple choice? Then you’d have so much control!

hi, i have seen a request for mp4 (or video) files to b attachable to a record in airtable. can we add to that request for attachments for other common file types (e.g. pdf / txt / ms office) too, please ? tks: -nik-

When i’m using a lookup, conditionnal lookup or simply if there is a lot of attachements in a field. Its often horrible to download each one of them individually.It would be perfect to simply a button in the corner to “Download All” and then it could include everything in a .zip file.

Our team produces content which we want to space out on a calendar. We also want to get a sense of who owns which event from the calendar view. It would be real helpful if we could customize the calendar cards just as we can in the Kanban and Gallery views.Cheers,Yuval

Hello I start to use your application and I have to say it s very very impressive and quite corresponding to our needs I ve a question: Do you plan some dropbox integration where instead of downloading the file from dropbox, you juste save the weblink so the documents are still stored in dropbox and where they are updated they are everytime up to date. I actually use URL field to store the link of each file but a kind of small native application would be better (no need to paste and copy) The functions of grouping and filtering etc are really amazing :slightly_smiling_face:

It would be helpful if shared view links could be opened on Airtable IOS App to view the content (instead of the web app), that way viewer can use call & message buttons for phone numbers, etc.

I would like the ability to have a barcode scanner embedded in the mobile app, which would allow for automated data entry (for my use case, computer and electronic equipment serial numbers) This would be useful for other applications as well, including shopping lists, inventory, and coupon management. In addition to the above request, the ability to generate QR codes from record data would add simplicity to data entry. Thanks!

The scripting block is cool. But a lot of us use AirTable because we don’t know how to code. I’d love for someone to create an AirTable block (or feature) which would let me script automations through a Zapier-style interface. (no coding knowledge required). In my dream world, this would not only script automations within an AirTable base, but also between AirTable bases, and ALSO between AirTable and other software with API hooks. Also: it makes me grumpy to have to pay extra for Zapier. This should be a feature within the AirTable pro plan.

Every record has a unique URL. It seems so obvious to me that there should be a field type that is a QR generator simply for the URL to that record.My goal is to label physical items with a QR code so I can use a smartphone to scan the QR code and have the Airtable app open directly to the correct record so it can be viewed/updated. I can copy the record URL and generate a QR code and this works perfectly, but I’m not going to do that for every record. Seems like it should be an available feature.There are so many work-arounds for creating QR codes but why not have unique record URL be an automatic QR code like so many other solutions out there…?

It would be really useful if there were a way to dynamically create single and multiple select options using the rollup function on another column. For example, in one of my tables, I have a list of geological formations each of which has a set of dominant lithologies. A given formation might consist of 1-4 different lithologies. In another table, I have a list of rock samples. I link each rock sample to the geological formation from which it was collected, and it would be great then to be able to choose the exact lithology of the sample from the 1-4 dominant lithologies listed in that sample’s parent formation, rather than choosing the lithology from the list of all lithologies (there are hundreds).I can add a rollup column and format it using arrayjoin(values), which gives me a printed array of the 1-4 values of the linked record on the other table, but there is no way then to take those array values and turn them into single or multiple select options for another column.

Would be nice to share specific views with specific collaborators. A bonus would also have the ability to lock those shared specific views.

The barcode feature in the mobile app is great, however searching for an item to link with barcodes only works on linked items when their primary field is the barcode. Barcodes tend to be nondescript, and it makes little sense that they become the primary field, as they then show up all over the place. Why don’t the search field search multiple indexes, letting the user specify a “searchable” Boolean on fields other than the primary could work. If a barcode column was searchable you could enable the barcode scanner.

When a given field/cell contains a URL to an image file, it should display as the image or thumbnail of image, not as a text hyperlink. This is particularly important if using URL formulas to ping barcode-generation APIs. We get the barcodes we need, but we can’t bring them back into Airtable. Of course, this is all a workaround for the fact that the Barcode field format is input-only. It can do barcode-to-string, but not string to barcode; at least what I can tell. I hope there is momentum behind this use-case; I imagine everyone managing any sorta inventory needs barcode images in-line, and ideally scannable once printed. Thank you.

I’m heavily considering a return to Airtable after finding Notion’s databases overly nascent and Coda overly complex. However, I’m quite stunned to find regular expression functions, e.g. REGEXMATCH and REGEXREPLACE, absent from Airtable. Do we know if the team plans to incorporate these critical functions?

I’m running several bases that have numeric fields with default values that always need to be greater than zero. I have more than ten collaborators on most of them. I spend more than a fair amount of time fixing fields with blank entries as they get deleted. It would be nice if the field maintained at least the default value. Functionally, this means that deleting a cell with a default value on 1 would reset the value to 1 instead of leaving a blank cell.

Hello,I’m using the Airtable on the touch screen monitor in Desktop and I have set the appearance as a kanban view. With using the mouse I’m able to move cards, But while using the touch on the screen, I’m not able to move them.Touch is working for selecting and scrolling the items into the Airtable, But I’m not able to move the badges. It is working on i-pads but it is not working on the desktop touch screen monitor.Please let me know if there is any way to resolve it.ThanksNikhilesh

If the content of the Attachment cell is an audio file, then a mini audio player is displayed in the cell. Add a keyboard shortcut to play that file when the cell is in focus.

Just a quick suggestion: I use webhooks in my buttons to start and top timers in my timesheet tracking service: however, I would really like to be able to click on a webhook without having to immediately close the tab. I could set-up a macro to close a tab automatically after a time interval, but I thought I would pop in here and suggest that we have that added layer of control in terms of what pops up as we click a button. In another use case, sometimes I want to run a script to perform background tasks, and I don’t need to see the console. I would love the script to be able to run in the background without necessarily loading the dashboard - and I realize there is probably a limitation here, regarding only being able to use a block if it’s fully loaded on the screen. This isn’t yet possible in Airtable because we can currently only link tables to tables (not fields to fields), but it would be really awesome if we could link a collaborator field (that IS NOT the primary field) in a “Projects” table to a matching employee name (which IS the primary field) in an “Employees” table.That way, we could get all the extra features & benefits of a collaborator field, while simultaneously getting all the features & benefits of a linked field. 🙂The workaround for now is pretty simple: We just have an extra field inside the Projects table which is the link to the employee table. (Only problem is that we now have 2 fields in Projects which have the exact same information in them.)

I’d love for the button functionality to include “Start Time Block” (and potentially end as well) Is this possible? (A button that would start the time tracker block for the record)

This isn’t super high priority, because I know that we can accomplish this using Airtable’s API or the scripting block or great tools like this one, but it would be super cool if we could do this upon importing a CSV file into Airtable:If a CSV file has a column of URL’s that each represent a publicly-accessible image somewhere, it would be cool to be able to directly import that CSV file into Airtable, and be able to map that column of URL’s directly into an Attachment field. Then, upon importing the URL’s, Airtable could download the images at those URL’s into the Attachment field.Alternatively, it would be equally cool if we could import the URL’s on the CSV file into a URL field in Airtable, and then upon converting the URL field to an Attachment field, Airtable would download the images at those URL’s.

My primary key differentiator of Airtable versus Google Sheet is the ability to upload attachments on the row.While images work well. Video attachment doesn’t play and requires downloading.It would be great to have this feature to at least have everything in Airtable available in term media viewing.

Pretty much explained by the topic name, it would be great to be able to select Star Rating as a field type as way of rating things 1-5. I know there’s other ways of doing this (you could have a single select using the black star glyph) but it would be cool!

I frequently use complicated sorts (4+ parameters) and switch between them regularly to update data, or view different scenarios. I would love the ability to save a sort configuration and reload it easily! It gets really cumbersome rebuilding the sorts and remembering the order, parameters, and values each time.
