Airtable is changing the face of software applications by separating data from form. The Gantt, Timeline, Calendar and Kanban views are awesome. Why have special apps for these functions when your data underneath can be visualised as needed! My product suggestion is that a Network and Tree View be added. OR OR Technically these are all Directed Acyclic Graphs and there are myriads of use cases where business data forms either a hierarchy or a flow graph. Organisation Charts Bill of Materials Work Breakdown Structure Product classification systems Task networks (which complement the Gantt View) etc etc. Anyone else see value in a data driven view like this? I am loving the Page Designer Block. For Destiny Search Project it is going to save us HOURS of work, and also give us forms that we have until now dreamed of being able to create easily. I have seen the request for an embed of blocks which I also would love and will be helpful (I just signed up for the beta) The next feature I would like to see is that when a Page is created in the Page Designer it has a Field in the record that is associated with it. This would be similar to how attachments work for pdf but would be a direct link to the page design for that specific record. In our use case we have set up an awesome form that we can give teams when they are dispatched on a search assignment, it includes team members, map, and information. Currently, though we have to open page designer, then find the right record in order to print. If it was embedded as part of the record it would be much more easily accessible. Again thanks for creating a tool that has been game changing in our organization and providing of services.

I am working on a base where I want to produce a ‘page’ for records with a table of linked records which could contain anything from 30 to 250+ records. It would be great if this could be accommodated in page designer by allowing the table to be variable length and to paginate sensibly by repeating headings on new pages etc.

These posts are asking about a feature similar to the “filterByFormula” in the standard API, to programmatically filter record selection.
Can table.selectRecordsAsync() query a table or view? Scripting app
I see that you can get all records from a table or view - and even sort them. But what if you want a subset - for example all those records connected to another record? It’s not always possible or desirable to create views for this type of thing?
More efficient way to query records? Scripting app
Is there a way to retrieve specific records without iterating through all the results of a table using table.selectRecordsAsync() or view.selectRecordsAsync()? Something like SELECT / WHERE queries in SQL? Or in AirTable terms, a Filter? This would be far more efficient than having to iterate through returned records checking for the records I’m interested in…
My request is slightly different and I think falls into the “interactive” idea behind the scripting block: session.selectedRecords() .
The idea
Each record can be selected with a checkbox on the far left-hand side of the row, or all records can be selected from the box at the top. The UI allows users to “Send” or “Delete” the selected records from the base when right-clicking after selection.
Providing a scripting block some way to detect which records are selected could help with more granular use-cases. For example, the user wants to update 4 records in “GroupX” and 2 records in “GroupY”. Right now, there are easy ways to filter records matching “GroupX” OR “GroupY” but not a mix (absent other algorithms for detecting the desired records).
Potential issues
One implementation issue that comes to mind is when does this selection get stored. If a user runs a scripting block with “N” records selected, provides some information via an input.textAsync() and deselects some records before submitting the text, does the script use the selected records at script start or at moment of execution?
What do others think? And anyone from Airtable, can you give hints if this might be in the works (or any other session variables for that matter)?

Hi, I have been working on creating a Marketing Calendar with Month, and a generic type as the columns and rows respectively using the ‘Matrix Block’ for my current project. However, I would also like to be able to print the block, but currently there is no option to print. I’ve worked around this by printing the webpage as a PDF and resizing to fit within a page, but a more natural way of doing this would be helpful. Thank you.

Maybe I’m missing a trick, but it would be really handy to be able to group fields/objects together in Page Designer so they can be moved as one block, either by using a marquee tool or holding down CTRL while selecting?

What is the proposed idea/solution? Incorporating multi-select into the Page Designer extension so that multiple elements can be selected and moved simultaneously. How does this solve the user problems? Our team does a lot of work with the Page Designer extension to build printable schedules for events that we run. In doing so, we've noticed that we waste a lot of time moving individual elements one-by-one to restructure the page layout. I understand that editing multiple elements at once wouldn't be feasible for obvious reasons, but the ability to simply move a few text boxes at the same time feels like a no-brainer (and, selfishly, would save my team and me a lot of time).

I love the new Base Schema block. As a content strategist, it has some really great potential applications. The degree of control in the settings, however, is far too limited to be useful for complex bases—which is likely to be a major use case. Some controls I’d need to have to be able to put this to practical use (in order of priority):
Select which tables within a base to map
Choose to map all fields, or only non-hidden fields.
Apply specific colors to connection types that persist, not just on rollover
Apply specific line type (e.g. dashed, dotted, solid) to connection types that persist, not just on rollover
Additionally, I’d love to see the following enhancements:
Export to PDF or PNG (table stakes for any visualization, if you ask me)
Bézier control over the line curves
I so want to be able to make good use of this block, and will continue playing with it in more simple bases. From my limited interaction so far, it’s not super usable for the types of bases it would be truly useful for. I do love that I can rearrange the position of the tables, and the interactivity of the lines is nice (though feels like secondary importance to some of the stuff in my list above).
Thanks!!

I’m creating a dashboard of different chart blocks that I want to be able to share with others in my organization. I know there’s a beta feature for sharing an individual block (in this case, one chart), but if I want to share a dashboard (a set of charts) with someone, is there a way to do that? This feels like an important feature to be able to use and I’m not sure how to do it or if it’s possible. Thanks!

I’m using the Map Block for a research project and it works great, but I think it could benefit from two hopefully simple-to-implement features: 1. A collapsible record list showing the records that appear on the map. This could of course function exactly like the Record List Block, and may look similar to Calendar views (the calendar or in this case map appear on the left side of the screen, and a record list on the right). Right now I’m using both blocks in tandem, but they don’t technically relate to one another so I have to collapse/minimize the map block to see a full list of records. Seeing the map and the list of records side by side would be very useful. I could then expand a particular record easily without having to find its location on the map, selecting the correct marker, and then clicking expand record. 2. A “zoom to record feature” for maps. It would be nice to either search within the Map block to find a record, or select from the record list described above and have the ability to zoom to the record’s location on the map. Right now, navigating back and forth between non-proximate sites in the Map block is cumbersome, and one would need a general idea of where a site is geographically to get to it; that, or clicking on each marker until they select the right record.
