My team shares excel files of names and addresses in an “Attachment” column. Is it possible for the attachment preview to show how many rows are in the attached excel file? Additionally, if that attachment preview would also show comments that are embedded in a PDF file I would win the nerdiest Airtable user at HPU award… and I love to win.

PLEASE add the ability to use PDF export from page designer in automation! Or at least add the PDF as an attachment field in the record. The only way to get use out of the page designer is to manually download each record, would to use for creating static documentation of what a record looks like at a given time or send to client for review, etc.

If you do a lot of importing/exporting of CSV or Excel data with Airtable, you know that invisible leading or trailing whitespace can wreak havoc on your work, especially when you try to use text data from outside Airtable to match existing single-/multi-select fields or link fields. I’ve spent many hours tracking down these kinds of errors with imported data. While you can use TRIM formulas and the like outside of Airtable to clean the data beforehand, that’s not always convenient if you don’t control the source of the data (or that data changes frequently). What about an option on single line text fields in Airtable to automatically trim leading/trailing whitespace characters once the user is done editing the field? Seems like it would save a lot of headaches and would be easy to implement.

It would be nice to be able to flag some fields in the “Import blocks” as just containing static values that relate to that type of import, that don’t exist in the source data. For example, 10 fields may come dynamically from the source file, but one might just be a static value of the source system etc.

Two product suggestions for the CSV Import Block: If our CSV file has a field in it that doesn’t already exist in our Airtable table, the CSV Import Block just completely ignores that CSV field. However, it would be great if the Import Block gave us the option to create new fields for any new fields that it finds in the CSV file. Please allow us to import fields into Long Text Fields, even if Rich Text Formatting is turned on. Currently, it’s a real bummer that the Import Block can’t import fields from a CSV file into a Long Text field, if the Rich Text Formatting option is turned on for the Long Text field. CSV files NEVER have any rich text formatting because they are simply plain text files, so I’m not sure why it would be a problem to simply import plain text into a field that has RTF enabled on it. As it stands now, the only way to import CSV files into a long text field is to turn OFF the RTF formatting option in Airtable — but then we lose all of the previous formatting that we had applied in that long text field. :frowning:

This isn’t super high priority, because I know that we can accomplish this using Airtable’s API or the scripting block or great tools like this one, but it would be super cool if we could do this upon importing a CSV file into Airtable: If a CSV file has a column of URL’s that each represent a publicly-accessible image somewhere, it would be cool to be able to directly import that CSV file into Airtable, and be able to map that column of URL’s directly into an Attachment field. Then, upon importing the URL’s, Airtable could download the images at those URL’s into the Attachment field. Alternatively, it would be equally cool if we could import the URL’s on the CSV file into a URL field in Airtable, and then upon converting the URL field to an Attachment field, Airtable would download the images at those URL’s.

I don’t know if the good folks at Airtable have a formal way to gauge popular features for implementation in upcoming updates, but here’s my request. If you like it, please say so in the comments and maybe we can get Airtable’s attention on it. I have a list of emails from a survey with some other fields, and I want to export a selection of those emails to CSV. My selection criteria is based on a long text field which could contain anything. My selection criteria hence cannot be made into a filter. Simply put: I just want to select a bunch of rows arbitrarily, and export that selection to a CSV file. That’s it!

When i’m using a lookup, conditionnal lookup or simply if there is a lot of attachements in a field. Its often horrible to download each one of them individually. It would be perfect to simply a button in the corner to “Download All” and then it could include everything in a .zip file.

Hi, In Google Spreadsheets, using the Importdata function, I am able to have a sheet update constantly with new data from my database (via a Metabase link or a Heroku Dataclip link). I would like to be able to do the same in Airtable. The links used by Google Spreadsheets end with .csv but instead of a 1-time import of the table, it synchronizes. Is there any way to do that in Airtable yet? Thanks for your help

Hello! I have searched… but I have not found an option to print/export pdf one by one, with a dynamic pdf name. It’s possible with zappier + pdf filer, but I wanted to stay on Airtable for the whole process 🙂
My issue: I made a page layout with dynamic fields, and when I print them, I have only one big pdf called “BDDname_ BDDtable - Airtable.pdf”. Is it possible in the future to export record one by one in pdf, with a dynamic name for the pdf, for exemple : FirstName-LastName.pdf for each one.
Thanks! Eric
