Column Grouping

Hello Community, I’ve had a bit of an idea. At our company, we have tables that can have up to 30-40 columns in them, especially on the “summary” or “master” tables, where data is assembled from other tables. This can get very confusing. What If we could group similar columns together in a similar way we group rows? Color-coded, collapsible, and individually shareable. It could be quite powerful. Thoughts?

So let me get this straight… everyone who uses Kanban view and actually sorts their records ends up seeing this same screen as the introduction to their view because AirTable won’t let people hide Uncategorized from view? Whose idea was that?

Data Grid View works flawless on mobile devices and is by far the best option to view and edit tables on a mobile phone for example. Why is it not already available for Interfaces? What are we waiting for?

The gallery view is a really helpful way to visually explore a set of records by using large photos to represent them. Would greatly appreciate the ability to group items in the Gallery View by a field, similar to how Grouping is supported in Grid view. Right now, if I want to look at a subset of items as a group, I’m forced to make individual sorted gallery views, or look at items lost in a sea of other gallery items.

What is the proposed idea/solution? ... A new feature that transposes the Rows and Columns of a View. How does is solve the user problems? ... It is useful to transpose the Rows and Columns of a Table for for viewing and / or calculations. In Airtable it is more efficient to create Records for time rather than Fields (e.g. each Row is a unit of Time like a Week, Month, Quarter, Year, etc. and not the column). The ability to see each unit of Time as a column moving from left to right is standard practice. How was this validated? ...This is a core feature to all spreadsheet applications. What is the proposed idea/solution? Allow users to add a new record on another table through a linked field, when inside a form. How does is solve the user problems? Currently, in a form a user can select a record from a linked field, but they cannot create a new record through that linked field. This would be very helpful for instances when a new record needs to be added and you want to give that ability to the user. How was this validated? Not sure what "How was this validated" means... I found the issue because I wanted to create a new record from inside of a form, but I didn't have the ability to. Who is the target audience? Form submitters

What is the proposed idea/solution? If an email field is set to required on a form, the form should not allow the user to submit unless there is a valid (properly formatted) email address entered into the field. How does is solve the user problems? It allows form users to fix issues before submitting a form with invalid data. It helps the form owner ensure that the incoming data is correct. It makes it more likely that the form owner will be able to contact form users and e.g. send confirmation emails. How was this validated? People are expressing their frustration about the lack of this issue on a number of different threads in the Airtable forums. Who is the target audience? People creating sign-up forms or any form where the form submitter might need to be contacted as a result of submitting their info.

What is the proposed idea/solution? Allow questions on forms that are multi-dimensional, like this https://community.airtable.com/t5/other-questions/multiple-choice-grid-on-forms/td-p/81080 How does is solve the user problems? This will prevent fatigue from users who otherwise have to fill out multiple questions with the same sets of answers i.e. a series of statements that all have the same set of answers to select "strongly disagree, disagree, neither agree/disagree, agree, strongly agree" Who is the target audience? We are an enterprise account who uses AirTable for our program evaluations, for our thousands of program participants to fill out their evaluations

To whom it may concern, The recent development to all different dependency types and buffer for schedule dependencies in Timeline view is a great start to a long standing gap for schedule management with Airtable but there are still may improvements needed to make it more adoptable as follows: Make the attributes (Type and Buffer) part of the Date Dependencies configuration such that they are fields in Grid View, List View, etc. and not just accessed by clicking dependency line in Timeline view Update Gantt views to recognize the dependencies as valid Enable ability with Only Weekends (Mon-Fri) to allow specifically identified weekends as exceptions (Similar to how Holidays works to exclude but is an include) Enable ability to assign holidays to specific Users in the schedule (Currently we have a custom configuration which enables this capability but would be better if it is OOTB) Supporting Pics attached.
