It feels like the Grouping functionality in Airtable is limited in its usefulness. Grouping records by a given field makes some of my tables “Visually” more structured, however, the rollup field type could benefit from having some additional formulas that can logically recognize a grouping of records. There are analytical functions available already, where you can select, AVG, SUM, and MAX, etc for a particular grouping, but no way to access the result of these values in formulas. What would be great is if there was some way I could label/identify a particular group of records and access aggregate data from these groupings somehow. The API Documentation is a great way, to communicate with developers! It would be great to add a little more context to the data, to help developers handling it correctly. The Base already has a description. This could be appended to the “Introduction” section of the API Documentation. Descriptions for Tables and Columns Description-Fields could be added to Tables and Columns as well. Helping to communicate the proper content of ambiguous fields. Use Case: Storing the production Data of print products in a base. In a print context the width of a page can be described with or without the page bleed. Additionally the description would help to communicate the unit used for the number field. Hiya, I’ve got a base for recipes and ingredients, and it works quite well. I’m able to generate my shopping list by clicking the names of recipes I want to make–this necessitates a recipe-ingredient table for tracking the quantity of ingredients used per recipe. Unfortunately, this means that inputting new recipes that use new ingredients becomes quite tedious. When I input a new recipe, rather than adding references to the ingredients table, I have to add references to the recipe-ingredient table, and from there, add references to the ingredient table, each time creating new records as I do so. This means I have to go through multiple levels of clicking “create a new record” just to say that the recipe I’m creating uses an ingredient that I haven’t seen before. I do get that it’s not a trivial feature to add, and I don’t have any specific UI requests for this myself, but in general I was thinking it would be great if I didn’t have to go through two dozen presses of “create new record” every time I discover a new way to cook a steak. ... I would love the option to have a character counter show on a form, I use a form to receive wording / photos for marketing materials. It would be very useful, especially when setting up new columns, to be able to set local preferences local to the user not the developers. Hello 🙂 When an image is added in a cell, the only thing we can do on it is to add comments, which is fine but not sufficient IMO. It would be really useful to be able to set the order that fields appear when a record is expanded. The order of the fields in the table view should be reflected in the order of the fields when a record is expanded.
