Copy and past column layout per view (column order)

We’re currently using airtable as a pretty advanced project management system, so we commonly have about 40-60 columns per table, and we’ll also have 20+ views per table as well. With this many columns/views, and many of them being the same (as far as ‘column order’ goes), we’d love to be able to copy the column order (and other view attributes) and paste it into another view. If this copy/paste function could be similar to the Adobe products where you can copy/paste ‘layer styles’, that would be great! So, if the ‘hidden fields’, ‘filters’, ‘grouped by’ and ‘column order’ could be copied and pasted (applied) to another view, that would be ideal. It would be even better if I could select which items I’d like to be copied, and which ones to start fresh on. Thoughts on this?

For some reason, I’m having the odd person create duplicate options in single select fields. (so, say I have In Stock and Backordered as two single select options, someone could free type In Stock and add it as a third option) It would be good if either: a) The option to create a new single select disappeared when the text that had been entered perfectly matched an existing single select option or b) When opening the single select setting, you could do a quick merge of the duplicate actions. The quickest way to do this currently is to change the field type from single select to text and back again, but this has a negative downside in that if you have any single select options not currently being used in the base, you will lose them when converting back from text to single select. (Also a toggle to automatically keep single selects sorted alphabetically would be nice too, as would the ability to type and create new single select options from a form)

I have very recently discovered Airtable and I have to say that I love it. For personal data and projects it would always be my first choice. TL;DR: views and forms IN the app like embedded views/forms, please I want to move some of my clients from Podio to Airtable, but I am too scared to do so. It is far too easy for ordinary users to delete data, break relationships, enter garbage, fail to enter required fields… In short, the data is TOO accessible to too many users. I’d love to expose data in a limited way via forms and views that limit accessibility and validate data entry. I had toyed with the idea of ONLY using embedded forms for data entry, but that seems like a terrible approach. This isn’t a very specific feature request, but I wish that, in addition to its awesome ‘back-end’, Airtable had a ‘front end’ layer that allowed me to control data entry, access and visibility, based on field-level, item-level, table-level and user-level privileges. Hi there, Loving Airtable guys, really great work! Got a request / question: I want to share a grid view with a sales team who will primarily be viewing the base on their mobile devices. The base is large (around 2000 records) so a search function is essential, however whilst search is available on the desktop shared view it isn’t available on the mobile shared view. Is there any plans to introduce this? Or even better, a workaround? Thanks Ross

When viewing an individual record, the Field Type icons are really making it confusing for my users. In particular, the Checkbox icon looks like a checkbox that has already been checked. So my users look at the record below, and assume the project is “done”. Similarly, the Single Select icon looks like a dropdown menu, and users keep trying to click it. Honestly, I don’t now why you need to identify the field type at all. But at very least, we need icons that don’t look like data or like UI elements.

I’d like to be able to edit images in order to re-crop and rotate them. There is a airtable help article saying this is not supported and asking users to re-upload images. This is a pretty annoying workaround. Whilst the web app at least allows cropping and rotation of images during initial upload, the iOS apps do not. And you never know the orientation of an image coming from an iphone - there is even an unresolved issue I found in this forum about this. So users who want quality photographs in their databases, who therefore use iphones to take photos - cannot crop, cannot rotate, cannot edit later and are never 100% sure of the orientation of their images.

Is it possible to be able to see who else on my team is accessing my shared bases? I’m new so it’s possible I’m missing something, but I would like to be able to see who is there in real time to avoid stepping on collaborators’ toes (or cells) if we happen to be working on the same tables at the same time. Really missing this handy feature of Google docs/sheets. And while I’m asking…a very simple chat feature between members of each base would be incredibly useful as well. We’re a global team and don’t have a central location, so as we onboard more of the team, I am spending a lot of time explaining how to change views, etc. I can set up a video call and screen share and point them to the tables they are looking for, and we can chat in slack or text or email back and forth…but it would be so much faster if I could send them a quick message or two without leaving Airtable.

When bases are shared, could they be sorted by or at least visibly include a hint as to the team that the base is part of? Right now they only show up in a generic “shared” category. At a glance it would be nice to know what team a base is part of, just like in the view of my own created bases. Thanks

At the moment we’re allowed to link the form to one table, I would like to have an option to link the form to several tables and so the data will be splitted into the tables according to the questions/columns :slightly_smiling_face:

I may be a bit insane but in about 3 weeks I’ve put together around 40 tables to model my little organization. Each table really does hold different type of information so it’s not that I’m doing the old spreadsheet version of one table per company, etc. Since the primary focus of all of my tables is on persons and linkages to companies (currently around 1,000 and 100), I can’t separate the other tables into another base without copying the person/company tables which wouldn’t be real-time/integrated. Some RDBMS offer the way to group tables/views/etc.into “schemas” which make the visualization of relations a bit easier. With Airtable’s tabs across the top being pretty useless for this many tables, I need to use the dropdown, which is OK. What I’d like to see is some way to identify a group of tables that belong together, perhaps on the tab bar and a dropdown there to select one. Of course, it would be best if the active table is actually shown in the browser title bar or somewhere. Currently there are times you can’t see what table you’re working in.
