My team and I would love to work asynchronously on one airtable but when we leave each other comments on records the number stays there forever so we have no way of keeping track of what still needs to be discussed (you can erase your comments but not others and that way you erased the convo!). I’d like a way to get rid of the number shown on the record please.

I’m using Airtable now for almost everything and I love grouping feature. But when I group by date it groups by every single day but possibility to group by month would be better because there would be only 12 groups instead of 1 to 365.

For most content, I like to have all the text visible, but I don’t want the column to be any wider than it needs to be.
Excel lets users auto-size columns (and rows) so that they’re just wide (or tall) enough to fit all their content.
The Excel shortcut for this useful feature is to double-click the right edge of the column header.

Please implement import/export formats beyond CSV. Being able to migrate to/from tools like FileMaker and Access is critical. Hell, even XLS export would be an improvement. CSV is of course clean, but it’s OLD, and removes 100% of database functionality upon export. Thus, it is not a valid backup format. We require offline file-based backups. Thank you!

I’m loving the new Interface Designer! I’m seeing a lot of overlap between that and the older Page Designer, but there are some features I’d love to see ported over. Specifically, I love how Page Designer has the ability to create a text box with {Fields} that you can {Put In Brackets} to fill in the blanks. I see that Interface has the ability to add a text box, but no way to for the content to be dynamic. I also love the ability in Page Designer to add an attached image and change how it’s cropped or resized to fit a certain dimension. It looks like Interface crops images without an option to scale to fit. Can’t wait to see what’s next for Interface Designer! I didn’t even know how much I would want this until I saw it. I know my team is going to find it really useful!

Please add inches/centimeters, rulers, margins/guides, resolution, etc.
The Page Designer block is great, truly; but not at all optimal for actual page layout designers.
Also, DYMO and Avery label output, pretty-please.

A.

Hi, I have been working on creating a Marketing Calendar with Month, and a generic type as the columns and rows respectively using the ‘Matrix Block’ for my current project. However, I would also like to be able to print the block, but currently there is no option to print. I’ve worked around this by printing the webpage as a PDF and resizing to fit within a page, but a more natural way of doing this would be helpful. Thank you.

Would be a great feature to auto populate certain graphical information like logo’s and head shots alla FullContact. Example paste email in email field for a contact and then have it auto populate linkedin URL and photo from Linked in the the same contact. Full contact doesn’t do this for Logo’s only head shots. But I think pulling logo’s from a companies linked in page would also be interesting.

It’s awesome that lookup fields automatically bring in data from other tables, and that these lookup fields always keep their data constantly updated in real-time between the multiple tables. However, sometimes we want to lookup data from Table A into Table B, and KEEP THAT DATA STATIC in Table B. In other words, we DON’T want the lookup data in Table B to be constantly updated. The #1 classic example of this is creating an invoice in an invoice table that looks up prices from a products table. For historical accounting purposes & historical tax reporting purposes, it is very important that each invoice ALWAYS stays at the EXACT SAME PRICE after submitting the invoice to a client. But with Airtable’s lookup fields, whenever we increase prices in our products table, all of our old historical invoices also increase their prices as well. In reality, we only want the new prices to affect NEW INVOICES moving forward. We still want to keep all of our old invoices locked down to their old prices for historical purposes. In other words, new prices should only affect new invoices moving forward… but should leave old invoices alone. We got some workarounds in this thread, but it would be significantly easier if this functionality was directly built into Airtable. We are coming to Airtable from the FileMaker world, where a “lookup field” in FileMaker copies & pastes the data (such as price) from Table A into Table B in a STATIC FASHION, so that prices always remain static on old invoices for historical purposes. FileMaker, of course, also gives us Airtable’s ability to have lookup fields that automatically update in real time as well (but these are called “related fields” in FileMaker). So we have both options in FileMaker. Airtable only gives us one option. We would really love Airtable to give us the ability to have lookup fields that do “static copying & pasting” of data instead of real-time linking of data. Just go ahead & steal FileMaker’s methodology of doing this! 🙂

It would be useful to be able to apply a filter via a parameter on the URL without having to build that filter into a view. E.g. https://airtable.com/baseID/tableID?filter_name=Adam&filter_status=Alive
Use case 1: I have noticed some records which could be of interest to a single client only, I can filter the table to show only those records, then send the URL to them. They click and are taken into the table view but with additional filters applied, so they see what I saw.
Use case 2: I’d like to send a welcome email to project managers inviting them to update records which are relevant to them, ideally without them having to apply filters themselves. In the email would be a link to the table, pre-filtered to only show their projects. I want to automate the creation and sending of this email (e.g. with Zapier), so creating one view per project will not work, instead I would have zapier generate the URL parameters based on variables from the input.
