Trying to copy one field to another in the same table as stated in this article Update record Action – Airtable - Support I got a Received invalid inputs error message

New Airtable-r here. I am trying to build out a new base with a few tables within it. The goal is to create an automation where based on the update of status, a new record will be created in the respective table. I’ve set up the automation trigger as “when record enters a view” and created a filtered view for each status selection. The Action is set as “create record” and set to the appropriate table with fields selected. All the tests are running successfully, but the records aren’t populating in the tables. HELP! What am I doing wrong here?

Hi! I’m fairly new to Airtable, and I have a question about the automations. I’m building a form with a multiple-select field. I want to send the user an email IF they select two choices or more. As far as I can see, this isn’t a valid trigger in the automations window. Help is appreciated!

Hi everybody, I’m using a form view for each of my tables that end up creating somewhat of a customer support request. A customer would fill out this form, we’d then turn that record into a JIRA ticket. Because there are no automations that currently work with JIRA Server as well as they would with JIRA Cloud, I’d like to run a scripting block that checks all fields that are not empty and append the field name and it’s content to a Long Text field on the record. Example: “What you like to do X(FieldName): Yes (Content of field)” The Long Text field would allow me to just copy and paste all non empty fields and their content into a JIRA ticket’s description manually. Would like to know if this is possible or if I should look into something else?

I’m using a trigger where a record created in a table (a “campaign”) updates a field for 5 records (“pages”) in another table. This works. Now I want to link those 5 records to the new campaign record. I’m not sure of the syntax to use when separating the links. Either Airtable makes a whole new page record with all 5 page names concatenated (spaces), or only takes the first page name (paragraph break). I tried this with record IDs and same deal. The help text suggests this is possible (“Choose record(s) to link to, by entering record IDs or names.”), so I might be missing something obvious!

Greetings Airtable Community. I am working on a CRM for our referral business. I would like to have an automation that links the new months commissions with the appropriate Partner without having to go through and manually link the name. I start with a new Automation, the trigger is a new record is created on import. What scripting can I start with to query the table, match the MID, and then enter the partner if the MID matches all within the same table. Hopefully the screenshot helps explain.

Exploring AirTable for use with Google Sheets. I do not understand the built-in option for Google Drive connection. It seems to provide for 2-way syncing: If Sheet is updated then the connected AirTable base is updated. It also sounds like updating the base (with a form entry) would also update the G-Sheet. I’ve set up the connection and used the Google import to create a base from a Google sheet. But I am not seeing synching in either direction when I edit the G-sheet or when I update the base with a form submission. Maybe there is another configuration step I am missing (maybe scheduling frequency? I looked but have not found that setting.) But other posts outline using 3rd party connector services (Zapier, Integromat, etc.) to do this. Can someone clarify what synching is provided by the Google Drive connection in Airtable ? Thank you!

Hello. I need to send, once every month, the attachment (it’s always a pdf) in a particular cell from all the records that appear in a particular view. I can’t seem to Integromat to find and send the Attachment file… Any help?

Hi all! I just started using Airtable today, and my mind is spinning with all of the automation possibilities! I am stuck at the moment and could use some guidance- any help is greatly appreciated- thank you in advance! I’ve created a base that I am using to track the progression of people signing up to be a guest on a podcast. Here’s the desired workflow: We enter the names and email addresses of people we want to be on the show into the base. Once someone says yes, that contact record is moved from one status to another within a kanban view. I created an automation that triggers when the record is moved from one status to another in the kanban view. It sends an email with a link to a form. My issue is that I don’t know how to have that form update the current record that we created in step one, as opposed to creating a new record. Thanks for any help!

Hello :wave: Does anyone know if it’s possible to autopopulate a field with a link to the Slack message created as a result of a Slack automation?

Is it possible to only complete an action based on the output of a previous action? I would like to run a script when a field is updated, but I want to send an email based on the output of the script. If the script runs and doesn’t find any conflicts I don’t want to send an email. In this case I don’t really see a way to break out of an automation or send an email inside a script other than using outside API calls. How would you accomplish this? Would Airtable throw errors if I just put in a blank email in the to: field so that the step is executed, but it doesn’t actually send to anyone?

Hi! I run a travel company and we have lots of client info loaded into airtable, including peoples dates of birth. I want to set it up so that I get a notification in my outlook email on the day it’s one of our clients birthdays. Is this possible? I’ve tried using the date field, but obviously peoples DOBs are in the past, so the dates don’t match up with our current calender to get notifications. Thank you!

UPDATE: See my last post for the ultimate solution. I came up with some inadequate solutions earlier in the post, so save yourself some time if you are looking up how to generate random items from a linked field. EDIT: to make this more clear for future readers—I was trying to do this in an automation script. It worked as a script app in Airtable, though my final script below is much more performant. I make heavy use of scripting in Airtable, as well as the API, and I am pretty comfortable with using both, but this simple script is kicking my butt for some reason… it either hangs after running for 3000ms CPU time, or quits with an “unexpected error”. At one point it also threw a “syntax error”, even though there is no syntax error, and that error went away on its own without me changing anything. Hi everyone, I was delighted to discover recently the automation function within airtable, allowing me to remove part of the automation I had with third party providers (Zappier mainly). I am however unable to solve one specific automation : I have a database with a unique line for each of my customer with its details and linked documents. Each customer is delivered a unique line in the database with a specific ID Each of them is also provided with a link to an airtable form that allow them to send me documents (in form of attachments) that I need (ex. copy of ID, copy of birth certificate, etc…) They provide these documents throughout the year and not in one time. That is where I created the automation : 1- It takes all the attachment from the new record (each time they add a document, its create a new record) 2- it copy and past these attachments in the relevant fields in the main customer record 3- it

I have a simple automation for a Pinterest automation. Pulls records from a field as it enters a view and pushes to a google sheet. Which is then picked up and pushed out to Pinterest via IFTTT. What I can’t figure out is why sometimes the attachment (image) URL is sent out as an AWS CDN link and sometimes it’s sent out as a dl.airtable link. The airtable links always work. The AWS cdn links work sometimes. More often that not I get an error that the image is no longer available. It’s the like the cdn link expires too quick for the automation. My push automation from google sheets triggers on when a new row is added so we’re talking about seconds here. Anyone have any guidance here? This is frustrating me to no end. My automation is almost there!

Hi there, I am struggling with an issue for over a week now and decided to ask for help. In my base, I have a linked field pointing to another table of search keywords, describing the Product on the main table. These keywords are being populated by multiple sources, firstly being Google Vision Block that writes image keywords into a text field from where they are supposed to be added into the Keyword Fields via Automation, secondly users manually entering keywords in the Keywords field itself, and lastly users who enter keywords in a separate field called Bulk Keywords, simply because filling down a separate column by hand is much much easier than adding the same keywords in many fields which already contain information, simply because copy&paste would cause this to overwrite the existing information. So far so good. Up to recently, i had Zapier going merging all of these fields into the main Keyword, which was working fine but was very very slow.

I have an AWS Lambda function written in python that is initiated by a Zapier trigger that I set up. As I pass some input parameters to the function in the Zapier trigger, I can access to the input parameters in my python code by using variables such as event[parameter1] . It perfectly works. I’m trying to access the same Lambda function in Airtable Scripting environment. In order to do it, I set up an API Gateway trigger for the Lambda function, but I can’t figure out how to pass input parameters in the vanilla JS environment. Hey everyone! I need some assistance. We have automations linked from an external scheduling website Calendly. When a record is created there it updates on Airtable and assigns a person to interview them. Here is what I need to do: When that record is created it makes a new table for me with all the information and interviewer In that table I need to update or create a new list that links that interviewer ( we have 3 separate ones) to a public name so first and last names are not listed in an email automation I can not for the life of me figure out how to get it to automatically find the interviewers record and create a field with just their first name so I can link THAT in an email. Hi all I have a situation where shopify inventory levels in airtable can be changed manually by a user or automatically by shopify when a product is sold. I have an automation that watches changes to the stock level value and on change, triggers an automation to update shopify via a webhook via integromat. The problem is that when an order is placed in shopify, this automatically changes the stock level in airtable via integromat, but, this also triggers the airtable automation which then updates shopify again. How can I prevent the automation from running if the stock level change was a result of an automatic update from shopify rather than a user created update action to the stock level please? I have tried looking at last modified by but this doesn’t change whether it’s an automation of a webhook that changed the value. Any help would be gratefully received. Thanks Claire

Hello everyone, I am really enjoying Airtable, but I am running into an issue using the send Gmail email action with an image attachment inside an automation. When this email with image attachment is send, the image doesn’t show up as attachment, but a weird file-type does: These images in my base are just simple jpegs from around 350kb. When using the ‘Airtable send email’ action the attachments work fine, but I need to use gmail. Any help is super appreciated!

I ran into a problem using functions like DATEADD({Date 1}, 10, ‘days’). It took forever to find the syntax error AirTable was reporting. It turned out that the ’ coming from some keyboards (mac, ios) was not recognized as the right character. I could fix the formula by copying and pasting the single quote but I could not type it. I was wondering if I was using the wrong key but I could not find another single quote.

New to automations, so excuse this if it’s ignorant, but I am trying to create an automated email when a record is changed in one table. The email needs to be sent to a collaborator that is a lookup from another table. Below is a quick breakdown of our setup: Base has two tables. One table for projects, another table for tasks. The tasks table is linked to a record within the project table, and using lookup pulls necessary data into the task table. Specifically, the project manager is a collaborator within the project table, but is a lookup on the task table. I need to be able to notify the project manager when tasks change automatically. TIA

Hey Airtable community, i need your help ! I have a question :slightly_smiling_face: I have a table in airtable called “invoice” where all of my client invoice informations goes (Name/mail/adress/total paid/…) i use these informations and connect them with zapier to a template, the infos autocomplete this template. I wanted to know if same thing can be done with new automation function directly through airtable. From what i’ve leaned it’s not possible airtable can only transfer data to specific header columns and not to a template. Thanks for reading !
