Hi everyone! We have a “next in line” projects view in which the projects get added manually. I have created an automation that when a project gets updated whilst it is in this view, it gets a certain value. I used the When a record is updated and it seems to work fine. However as the projects get added manually to the view, it seems to trigger directly as the value gets updated when it is newly created. Is there a way to prevent the creation of a new record to trigger the automation? I tried searching for a workaround but can’t seem to find something. Cheers, Boy.

Hi All, Can anyone offer any guidance on how to version control scripts used in Automations? Currently, we create a duplicate base, run some automated tests on that base. If the tests pass, we copy the updated scripts over to the production base. It’s not ideal, so curious if anyone else has found a better solution. All the best, Tommy.

I am passing a duration type field a number value for update: let [audioFile, duration] = await concatenateFiles(audioUrls); console.log(duration); // this is showing a number with decimal // make the update await table.updateRecordAsync(record, { AudioURL: audioFile, Duration: duration, Status: {name: "Done"} }); All 3 fields are updated but the duration is always zero after this update. Do I need to supply something other than a number to the duration data type? Edit: I tried to use Math.round(duration) to no effect

Hi everyone! I’m trying to use my Airtable as a social media scheduler, and I’ve got a date/time column for when I want the post to send to Twitter. Does anyone know of a way to trigger automations based on the time of a column, as opposed to just the date? Right now if I use the trigger ‘when Date equals today’, all the automations fire at 12:00am instead of the corresponding time I put in the column. Anyone know a way around this, so that if I set a date/time of Oct 31 at 8:00pm, the automation doesn’t actually fire until 8:00pm as opposed to right when it becomes Oct 31 (ie. 12:00am)? Thanks! Hello, as a non-profit we regularly send a newsletter to our members. For this I use the Sendgrid app (we also have a Sendgrid subscription). Is it possible to automate this action so that the mail is sent at night, for example? Yours sincerely Geert

I have Facebook posts automations set up to post on the publish date but I’ve also added a time. Ascript runs around midnight every night and posts them all for the day rather than it posting at the times I have set. How can I correct this?

I’ve successfully created some automations to create an approval process when a status field says For Approval (trigger). The email goes to the 2 collaborators I listed in the action by email address separated by comma. Great. I’d like another action that notifies by email the “author” when the trigger is status Approved. That author could be 1 of 15 people and I don’t want to send all notifications to all people. Can I create an email action with logic that emails the “author” when that author is a verified collaborator with an email address associated with their account? Automatically pulling that author’s email info like a token? So far I can only see the option to set/pick the email addresses. Any help appreciated.

I have a “Created Time” field which I am trying to use to trigger automations. When I test the trigger, it says it was successful but is only finding 1 record when there should be many. I’ve tried setting different conditions, but no matter how I set them, the automation is not capturing the correct records. Am I missing something?

Hi, Is there a way I can insert a clickable phone number into the “send an email” automation? If I just insert my phone number field into the email, it shows the phone number but it’s not clickable (no Tel: hyperlink) Thanks!

Hello! I’m trying to automate a process for my client and I think Scripts may be the answer. Use Case: We’ve built a purchase order system. Purchase orders populate on the purchase order table and the accounting dept decides when to pay them. When purchases for a vendor or vendors are to be paid, a batch is created for each vendor on a second table. So imagine if you will, a February Mastercard bill with 100+ purchase orders. In an ideal world, it would be great if we could select a checkbox (next to each Purchase order) and it FINDS or CREATES a new batch on the second table. If the batch has already been created, the act of checking the checkbox links the purchase order to the batch. If the batch does not exist, it creates the batch and links the first purchase order. Side note: Batches have two statuses (Pending and Complete), So if it doesn’t see a pending batch for the vendor it would create it. Is this possible? We are also using Zapier.

Hi All, I’ve configured an automation that insert info from form to a google sheet. This form has a file field. When updating de google sheet, images files can be opened without problems, but other filetype as pdf, doesnot work. Airtable show “File not found message”. Any idea? Thanks.

I am wondering if there is a way to create a filtered list from a table to create an ad hoc shopping list. For example, I have an inventory item list table with reorder points and reorder quantities. I would like to be able to take my tablet to the inventory shelves and when I see an item that is low stock, I would like a button attached to a script that would send the selected item to an isolated table therefore creating an order list for items needed. I thought about using a checkbox column that I could then filter for a list but there is no easy way to reset checkmarks for next count. Am I making any sense?

I’m making an automation right now and would like to nest a link (kept in 1 field) into the text of another field. Essentially I have the two fields I would need to do this in Slack here: But I would like to do this on the AT side so it comes out cleanly like it would if I did it in Slack. Slack formatting doesn’t offer a way to nest links with a text shortcut. Has anybody done this?

I would like to send out an email once someone has filled out a form but when I set up the email trigger, I keep getting an error. I have an upgraded plan so I should be able to set this up. Can someone please help?

I have one automation (A) that must fire before another (B) after I import records with the CSV Import app. Automation A addresses a unique field value in 1 record, and Automation B will run for all records imported, including the record updated by A. Is there I way I can force A to run before B? Thank you!

I have there tables that connect: Contact Log Students Contacts What I want is an automation (or a script, but I am just learning Javascript so I am not there yet) that when I link a student into the contact log table it automatically looks up that student in the contacts table and links those contacts into the contact log table.

I am wondering if anyone has a way to pause all automations for all bases with one button? and then can turn them all back on with one button?

I have created many successful automations, however most recently, when I try to duplicate an automation, I am getting errors when I run a test. The only thing I’m changing is the person who is receiving the notification, nothing else; nonetheless I’m getting an error saying “Message” refers to a trigger or action that does not exist. Help!

I’ve got some form data coming into a table, and I’m then using those fields from newly created records to search for corresponding records in another table. I was mystified why the automation was sometimes bombing, but I’ve determined that stray trailing blank spaces are passed by the form, and will cause a string match to fail. I realize I could add a formula field to then ‘TRIM’ all of these strings coming in from the form, but gosh that’s kinda sucky to create duplicate formula fields for everything. Is there a better approach that I’m not aware of?

I have 3 tables: 1 - Incomes, 2 - Outcomes and 3 - Monthly reports. I’m trying to link new records in tables 1-2 to the appropriate record in table 3. in tables 1-2 I have a formula field which gives year and month (e.g. “2021 01”). The 1st column in table 3 is “YYYY MM”. I created automation that trigger in new record in table 1, finds the matching record in table 3, and updates it with the newly created record. And it worked as planned! When I tried to do the same thing on the 2nd table I encountered the problem in the picture - I can not insert the record to search by. It only allows me to enter the metadata of the record (only length is available). Any ideas what the issue might be? Do you know what are the criterias for inserting record’s field in the automation? Any thoughts will be highly appreciated!
