Im not sure where Airtable is headed. But id be happy to print a customer a nice Paper with all the Products he ordered. I guess id like to make different form views like in Filemaker.

Are there plans to add reporting or data analysis functionality to Airtable? Currently it appears the only way to analyze the data is to either use filters or to export to CSV and use a 3rd party tool. Filters work okay for some basic data analysis but don’t work for cross-table reports. And CSV doesn’t work across tables. My use case is tracking service delivery, light case management. I need to be able to pull regular reports with SQL type logic that pulls together linked tables and applies logic and formulas to them. I can get some of this from filters, but I’d like to save the reports so I don’t have to recreate them each time. Saving a different view for each filter would create a massive number of views - not a very good solution. For example, one field is client age. I need to report how many clients fall into 5 different age categories. So in order to save this, I’d need to create a different view for each age category - 5 different views just for that data ele

I am interested in linking my Airtable data to create graphs, charts or maps without having to export to Excel. Are there any existing apps I can link to for this feature? If not, I’d like to see it as a future feature. Keep up the great work. Really enjoying using Airtable. Thank you!

This came up in a support forum post: Importing Data into an Existing Table Airtable would be able to address more of my clients’ CRM use cases if it had the ability to import data into existing tables. Lead management is an example. Over time a company gets batches of leads in a spreadsheet that they need to be able to import into a Leads app. Duplication detection and record updates are key features that ensure the lead qualification process ends up being as efficient as possible. Copy and paste is a workable solution but there are a bunch of other reasons why Airtable needs the ability to import from a spreadsheet into an existing table. This additional import functionality would need to be able to set up data keys, driving an update for any existing records with the same key and creating new records for ones that don’t already exist in the table.

It’s a classical one but still very useful if you can avoid unreadable nested IF statements : CASE ( condition1; Statement if condition1 is TRUE; statement if condition1 is FALSE; Condition2; Statement if condition2 is TRUE; statement if condition2 is FALSE; … DEFAULT VALUE when nothing else matched ) Advantage: The evaluation ends with the first condition that matches

I’d like to secondary click on any value and find an option called “add to filter” which filters the records matching this added value to the filter. Would be much quicker than typing it manually in the filter.

If we had the ability to post comments to a record using the API, then we’d be able to turn AirTable into a true CRM with a flow of constant communication being added as comments to a contact’s record in a table. To extend this further, you could use Zapier to do the following: Email - Grab content fro incoming email, put content as a comment under an associated ‘Individual Contact’ record as a comment. Anytime you open up that Individual contact, you’ll be able to see the thread of all emails sent and received (as comments). I know it could be related to some filtering in linked records but I’d like to talk about my usecase, just to expand the possibilities. I’m using airtable to manage an inventory of videogames collection. I have a hardwares table, an accessories table and a games table. The hardwares table refer to accessories table for the included accessories (but it may not be a right thing to do, it’s just in a matter of “base-bundle”). And I have a bundles table which group hardwares, accessories and games. For instance, I have to create as many accessories as I own. But what if I wanted to have only a count ? I did it, and with the magic of rollup and formulas I can have a count of available accessories not in bundles. It would be great if I could have only one entry for an accessory and be able to link to it from the bundles table based on the available count of accessories. That’s my case. Hope it helps !

What do you thing about making the Field Type Symbol Optional in views (A, $, …). The benefit i see is polishing the UI for non geeks users and gain some pixels in the header for all of us. Thx

I’ve been looking at a similar topic and wonder if you would consider to add a summary column. I imagine it to be similar to the summary row at the bottom, but make it possible to calculate a rolling sum. I have columns for date, debit, and credit, so the function would have to look up the previous date. Then it would add the previous sum, the current debit, and subtract the current credit. This would preserve the visual independence of records and still work if they are reverse or out of order. I realise that this can be achieved with existing functionality but I am a new user and feel like it would be a common enough use case. Sorry for the cryptic explanation, I’m happy to elaborate. I’m sure that people will come up with similar calculations that can be attached to a record in a column on the right edge.

Hi! Right now, if a formula column results in an #ERROR, I am not seeing any way to filter so that just those rows are visible. (Maybe I’m wrong! If so somebody please show me.) I’d find this useful so I can identify and correct the errors.

Hello, I have several tables that have to split large amounts of data into separate tabs, I’ve found that I have a crazy number of some tabs because the data isn’t relevant to each other, but needs to be linkable – gotta keep it on the same base. That being said, it would be extremely useful if I had the ability to condense groups of tabs by assigning them ‘folders’ that would hide sets unless clicked on. It doesn’t need to be an automated parent / child nested table set, but at least having the ability to group sets of tables by a simple check box would be very useful for me.

When constructing a formula in a formula field, until I press save, I guess what the results might look like for a given record or two. I’d like to remove the guesswork and a result preview might help. Perhaps a preview could show the result based on the first (or current) record in view. When the syntax of my formula has no errors, it’d be sweet to see a real-time result preview to guide me to: further adjust my formula or give me confidence to save. I believe a formula result preview would reduce the back and forth of trying formula, saving, and editing again, repeatedly.

Why is it possible to link records in iOS but there’s no “x” to unlink? Am I missing how to do that? It would be rather annoying to have to go on my computer just to unlink when I prob will only use this program (which is fantastic btw!) on my iPad.

The tag line for your product is “looks like a spreadsheet, acts like a database”. That being the case, please consider that many people/companies will in fact want to replace most of their spreadsheet use with it! Which in turn expands your marketplace exponentially. BUT, in order to do that, you need to give us a folder hierarchy with simple detail views to manage the hundreds or thousands of bases we will have. Right now the huge icons in list view are IMHO rather silly if you want companies of any size (who will quickly have hundreds or thousands of bases) to be using this. Thanks for considering.

I’d like to share data as ‘read only’ yet supply collaborators the opportunity to comment on it (within each record). This would likely be another permission level between Reader and Editor, but would provide a rich data set faster.

We are working on a complex student reporting table for an education organisation and we’ve come across this use case: We have a students table, a programmes table, an attendance table and a results table. We’d like to be able to create a new student, select the programme they are enrolled in and have Airtable automatically create an empty “results row” in the results table and an “attendence row” in the attendance table. Both should have the student name and the programme linked in the relevant link field. This would save a lot of manual work for the organisation

What I would like to see is some visibility into Airtable’s development roadmap. It would be nice to see what features are on the fast-track, that are actively being worked on, what features are on the mid-range schedule, and what features are still in planning or are long-term. Or perhaps what features are 1-6 months out, 7-12 months out, 12+ months out. I would understand having caveats listed knowing that things change and that items get added or removed on the fly, or that sometimes things take a lot longer than expected to work out all the bugs. But there does seem to be a few feature requests that customers feel are extremely important and there is no sense as to when they will be available - 6 months?, 3 years?, we just don’t know? I certainly know there can be extreme complexities to adding features to a front-end controlled relational DB engine so long timelines are expected, but being completely in the dark is frustrating. Seems like a logical addition would be able to have some kind of merge duplicates functionality especially when dealing with complex databases, it’s important to preserve linking between tables which makes manual deduplication a pain in the bum.

Hi. I accidentally dragged the little square on the bottom right of a text field thinking it would expand the text box. Instead it has overwritten several text fields below it that contained data. Can I reverse this and get the data back? Thanks (I hope) Colin

When you make a Group in a View, you get a Count number next to the name of the value of the Field you grouped by. Is there any way to order those Groups not by the name of the group, but by the Count number? Thanks!

I’m using Twilio for.more and more things, and I wish there was a deeper integration between that service and Airtable. Especially now that Twilio Studio exists. So, here’s my wish list: Text notifications for changes to records or a new record in a view Send mass texts ‎store incoming texts and voicemails associate it with a phone number of a contact Send stored messages in Airtable based on an action over text.

I have a field where many of the entries are repeated multiple times (e.g. Management; Maintenance; Utilities) but there are also a lot of one-off values (e.g. Emergency Repair), so it’s not suitable for a Single Select field type. What would be handy is if, as I start typing, AirTable could auto-suggest based on existing entries in that field. So, as I type ‘ma’ it would suggest ‘Management’ and ‘Maintenance’. I can either click on one or carry on typing if it’s a new value.
