just a column that has the excel/google sheets equivalent of the airtable formula for the people migrating to have a more seamless transition. something that says 'if this is what your formula in excel looks like this is the formula you need to use in airtable. or @kuovonne is this something that could be an app? or even included in readymade formulas

It will be ideal to have the ability to not have the 500 limit column and have all the data in one place.

Two of my biggsest gripes Airtable are: 1) not being able to add records when the view is grouped, and 2) having records disappear as they are entered if the filter field is not set. Instead, what if Airtable always defaulted the fields in a new record to match the grouping values where it is created? For example, if my view is grouped by Project and Task and I add an item in the Project “A”/Task “B” subgroup, how wonderful it would be if I could add a record there and have it default to Project A and Task B! Setting defaults this way would also go a long way to making life easier for those of us who use a lot of filtered views. If the groups also covered the filtered fields, I wouldn’t have so many new records accidentally disappear because they no longer match the criteria. I know you are concentrated on mobile apps but your excellent desktop app (Windows 10) would be improved by the ability to minimise to the system tray. I have it pinned to my Taskbar, but sometimes accidentally close it, which is a tad annoying as it takes a fair few seconds to fully open each time.

I’m hoping this is the easiest feature request you’ve ever gotten! All I want is to send form notification emails to other members of my team. For example: I use a form to collect info so we can book airline reservations for our presenters. I want to notify a team member when a new form comes in so they can book the flight. I don’t want this team member to have edit access – and I think that’s the only current way to get them the notification email (they edit the form and select “email me”). So in the screenshot below, in addition to the “email me” option, I’d like to see an “email team member” option.

It would be great if video attachments could playback like all other attachments do.

In a sheet with a lot of columns and formulas added, it difficult to easily identify the input columns from columns that are automatically populated through formulas, roll-ups and look-up functions.It would be useful to be able to colour code the header label/icon of a column or an entire vertical column:When customising a column/field type it if the user could assign a colour to the column. This could colour code the header, icon or perhaps the entire column (similar to the appearance when a column is used for sorting).OR: Perhaps this could even be automated eg. I crea a lot of Linked Records, they reorder themself without any logic. I manually re order the linked records, and they get changed again. It would be great to be able to sort linked records by date, main field, etc.

I have created a database to keep track of educational programs and I am finding that it would be very helpful if the time in a date-time field could be a range. For example: August 20, 2019 4:30 - 6:00pm. Right now, I get around that by doing the following, but then I have to fill in two separate fields and it would be great to have it in one.

It would be really awesome if we could ask a question on a form and put a max word count in for their answers, similar to many other form products out there.

Hi,I know there are MANY posts on the topic but my request is a mix of them aiming to make the whole linking super simple.We have an Airtable form on a website which populates a “Opportunities” table. One field is “email”.We have another table in the Base which is “Contacts”, that have an “email” primary key.We want the form to immediately link the Email that was recorded with either the existing Contact found in Contacts or create a new Contacts entry. Automatic linking would happen if in the form the “Email” question was a “Link to another table” field type. Of course, we don’t want to do this for privacy reasons: then anyone could look up the other existing emails. Plus there doesn’t seem to be the option in such form fields to “create a new entry”, only select existing ones. Currently, our very manual process is to add another column in the “Opportunities” table, “link to another table” type, next to the “email” field. HiIt would really nice to be able to invite guest collaborators for bases that you didn’t need to pay for. I like the Slack model where every member has 5 free guests to add in one channel.Maybe you could do the same so that every paying workspace collaborator has 5 guests to invite. The guest could only have access to one base and if gain access to more than one they would be billed for.Rigth now when you have to collaborate with people outside your team you have to move a base to a free workspace. And can understand why Airtable choose to do this but maybe guest access could be a way in between.

Currently when you select the “Is Any Of” filter you are not able to filter by the fields that are empty. For example, if I have a single select column called status with values: “To Do”, “Doing”, “Done”. Then I want to show only records with “To Do”, “Doing” and Empty. I cannot do it. I have to choose whether I want to show only empty or anything with value in it.So if you can just add the option EMPTY in the filters “Is any of” or “is none of” it would be great!

The biggest issue with Airtable for me and many of my clients is that I cannot restrict viewing some sensitive data for new users. Let’s say I have a base which is serving as a CRM and CMS at once. I can’t divide it into two even with Airtable Sync. So I’m adding a new content editor for the CMS tables only and he can see all the money data of my client. This is NOT good at all. I strongly believe that this feature is needed for most professional users of Airtable. The Airtable team has added recently an ability to set editing and deleting permissions — it’s great but it’s not enough at all. Because of this Airtable is a limited tool for me.

Is there a way to be able to allow only certain user levels to view certain blocks dashboards? Example: “Editors” could see one dashboard, read-only users could only see another dashboard, etc. And to even delve further, allow dashboards to filter information based on single-select fields. Example: I have an employee status as “NEW HIRE”, then they would be able to see the “NEW HIRE DASHBOARD” that would include company training videos, links to other onboarding sites, etc.?

Hi there! I’d like to be able to group different records on one horizontal line or near each other as opposed to random. It would be awesome if this would work automagically by using grouping in the view. This way you would e.g. be able to create single rows for segmented phases (different colors) of individual projects. One project would always be one line (or group) in this example. Right now if you have more than one project with multiple phases (multiple records starting & ending neatly after each other) the lines are plotted all over the place. In short I’d love to able to influence the horizontal position of records somehow. Best, Arthur.

It would be nice if we had a global filter that we can apply to all the views. You could have the option of having a filter per view as it is, but another feature of a global filter that affects all views.My use case is an editorial calendar with multiple sites. I still need the individual views to have different filters, but it would be nice to have a global filter to only show one website I am working on, while going to each view.This would be an easy, yet very useful feature. One that probably a lot of people wouldn’t realize how useful it is until they tried it.

Hi I am working on a database for a client and have set up a jon table to cater for a many to many relationship (so that I have a record for each which can be actioned by Zapier as well as good database design). I have discovered that when trying to add a new link via one on the linking main tables (Clients) that if you pick a record that is existing and already joined to another Client that it allows it and results in more than one entry in the field (in which the Allow lining to multiple records in UNTICKED): Could you: prevent this from happening do something about the process of adding a record from one of the main tables (not the join table) - currently when you click the + (add) button it gives you a list of records to add which is rubbish with a join table - what you want to do is actually add a new one - and you should therefore get the new record popup view.

If I create a link in table A, row N pointing to a record in table B, row M, using the “Link to another record” field type, the mirror image of the link is generated in table B, row M, pointing back to the corresponding record in table A, row N. The “Link to another record” field type can be used within one table. But when I create a link from table A, row N to table A, row M, the mirror image of the link pointing from table A, row M to table A, row N doesn’t get created. I have to create the mirror image of the link manually, which is a hassle. This is a bug, could you fix it?

Hi,Occasionally someone makes a change to the table that breaks a formula or script someone else was using elsewhere. Currently Airtable doesn’t notify the other person of this (only displaying the little red triangle) and the changer might not realise what they had done. Could there be an automation trigger of on breaking change that can then be used to send an email to an SRE team or slack channel to let people know it needs fixing.

In order to keep our tables under the imposed limit, we want the person who created the table to effectively act as its owner, monitoring its record count and taking action on this as needed.

I am very glad Airtable has added options to the possibilities for prefilling forms, especially the ability to prefill linked records. However, it seems this functionality expects the record index string as the prefill query parameter. I’m happy to have someone point me to the right way to do this if I am mistaken, but if I am not, I would find it very useful to link records by record ID. This would make scenarios like this possible:enter the One part in a One to Many data relationship in a first form;redirect the first form to https://airtable.com/formForManyPart?prefil_link={record_id} on success;enter one Many part correctly linked to its One.Our exact usage scenario is to allow students to request resources for a project, with the ability to add the project to our DB first if it does not exist yet. Having that newly created project linked straightaway to the requested resources in the form would take away a lot of friction.
