Airtable has just released my latest app: My One Record. I wrote this app because I wanted a quick way to access linked records in a grid view without the distractions of other unrelated records. I have been personally using this app in my own bases every day ever since I wrote it, and it is such a mental timesaver when you need to jump between parent and child records. Here are some links: watch a video demo install the app from the marketplace purchase a premium license. To setup this app, your base needs … a collaborators field (that allows adding multiple collaborators) in the parent table a button field in the parent table to call the app a lookup field of that collaborators field in the child table a filtered view in the child table based on the lookup The video demo has more details on how to setup and use the app. Note that you can test out the app before purchasing a premium license. A premium license simply removes the delay before changing the active view. Some notes:
I wasn’t entirely surprised today to learn about the carnage over on the “Make” Facebook group, soon to be the former Integromat group. When Cleonis acquired Integromat I predicted there may be turbulence in its future. I tried to tell you. This is what big companies that get bigger through acquisition do best. There are some really angry customers because they apparently rototilled the framework, adjusted the terms and pricing, modified some long-understood concepts, and gave it a new name that even a Google PhD couldn’t find using the most advanced search queries imaginable. Try to search for this new flagship product - it’s laughable. I definitely want to have coffee with the marketing MBA who spent perhaps $250,000 renaming and rebranding this product. “Make”? Seriously!?! Was “Do” taken? Did “Go” not make the shortlist? And what were these people doing when this brilliant plan was hatched? It backfired. But cheer up; it’s likely to get worse.
Thought I’d show off a project that I use very often in my life as an Airtable administrator. GitHub GitHub - nafeger/airtable_collaborators: A way to track collaborators in an... A way to track collaborators in an airtable enterprise account - GitHub - nafeger/airtable_collaborators: A way to track collaborators in an airtable enterprise account This tool will allow you to manage a Base that can be synced with all the collaborators within your organization. I often found it difficult to determine who had access to which bases, and who was assigned to workspace vs individual permissions. So, here’s a fun tool. It currently requires access to the enterprise api, so keep that in mind if you want to use it. Any questions feel free to ask here or hit me up on the twitter: @nafeger
Hey everyone, Sharing an article I wrote on how we mange our entire community on Airtable and how it powers our community site. I’ve tried to keep the article short and sweet, hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
Have you ever wanted to display the information you have stored in an Airtable field on a form? Maybe you want to display an image from your base on your form? Your Airtable base  Your Form  Or maybe you want the form user to choose a specific record from your Airtable base in the form? Then, once they choose the record, you show them information from 4 - 5 fields in that record? You can do all this with the On2Air Forms app for Airtable. I knew that title would grab your attention. People often ask me to help them with Airtable projects and I agree to help them from time-to-time, but not always. And I don’t even post much about my work because - well - it’s a bit boring and obscure to most onlookers. Some of my architectures require data in Airtable to magically sync to Google Sheets at the cell level - literally the data in a cell in Airtable must update to a target cell in Google Sheets in near real-time. While possible, not many people require this level of integration let alone in less than 1 second. As such, my work tends to be very behind-the-scenes sort’a like the city waste managers - workers who deal with stuff you need to work reliably but whose names are never known unless something failed. The title of this post relates to a very specialized role in the NFL (and increasingly College football). The “long snapper” is a specialist whose craft is not really known by even the most ardent footbal
Airtable - what have you done to the look of expanded records. It’s AWFUL. I’ve had a whole morning of my colleagues ringing me and asking what I’ve done to the look and begging me to change it back. Does anyone else share their revulsion?
If you need a way to create documents automatically with your Airtable data 📃 📁 , whether it’s an invoice, a contract, a flyer handout, a label, or other types, you can use Google Docs with the On2Air app.The On2Air Docs app allows you to automatically generate documents from your Airtable base into a Google Doc, Slide, or Sheet. Then, adds it back into your base as a PDF and Google URL.You click a checkbox ✅ in your base or schedule automated times and your document is created. Two of these terms are increasingly familiar to you; the third one – low-effort-code – is new, but you’ll be hearing about it more and the engineers at Airtable are likely very familiar with it. I just wish they’d bake the underlying AI into the Airtable code editors. Maybe the folks at SeaTable will listen because they support javascript and Python and GPT-3 supports both. When I’m writing code, I have another programmer with me every day all the time. It’s an AI model that is constantly scanning my source code and making really fast lookups into about a trillion lines of code written by other programmers. It’s powered by GPT-3 and delivered as a plugin to VS Studio Code. I typically use the VS Studio code editor to create Airtable scripts and as a result, my paired programmer has already learned how to write Airtable SDK scripts. As such, my low-code activities with Airtable have become more optimized - truly low-effort-code. Here’s a little video demonstrating that
You may be in a situation where you have a dataset with a lot of numbers, and you can’t find any meaning in it. (It’s me. I’m in this situation :raising_hand_woman:t5: ) If I could only break those numbers up into smaller groups, maybe I’d be able to better digest and distill some meaning. As a first start, I figured why not group these numbers into a nice set of four quartiles: Low, Below Median, Above Median, and High. That way I can use Airtable’s grouping to get a better sense of what I’m dealing with. I’ll preface by saying that I majored in English and I do not stand behind any mathematical concepts I’m using. If they’re wrong, call me out, I seriously don’t know better. Until recently, the only way you could run calculations on the content of an entire field was through rollups, which was pretty inconvenient and took some mental gymnastics to understand. But, with the scripting block you can do this analysis pretty neatly. I found this nice script over on Stack Exchange and bui
Hi @Jordan_Scott1 & @Rose_K , Some links from the Forum that deserve a little UP because they don’t seem to be often quoted neither by the Askers, nor by some Helpers: Airtable Team : To maintain (in my opinion) because they are sometimes gold mines of finds, quickly found in case of need! I chose Airtable as one of my Top Productivity Tools for 2022. Please share if appropriate. Thank you for making such a great tool that is a big part of my success.
In this thread I demoed an API for exporting your base in CSV format. The main issue is that it requires credentials to be passed as visual parameters in the URL. I’ve overcome this by making a new endpoint which accepts a POST request to store the sensitive information securely. A successful POST request will return a link for downloading your base as CSV which does not show any keys in plain sight. This link will only need to be generated once and will always show the latest data of the chosen table when used. It will be great for analysis, scheduled backups, or sharing a specific table with a client who wants access to live data by CSV. Post requests can be done in terminal like so: curl -X POST -F 'base=your_base_id' -F 'apik=your_api_key' -F 'table=your_table_name_or_id' -F 'view=your_view_name_or_id' 'https://csv-getter-for-airtable.ew.r.appspot.com/v2/make-url' Or you can use a tool like https://www.postman.com (required parameters made clear in the doc). If there proves to be
Hi everyone. I have built out an endpoint for exporting base to CSV. Documentation can be found here Here is the api. https://csv-getter-for-airtable.ew.r.appspot.com/all-csv?bid=<your_base_id>&apik=<your_api_key>&tname=<your_table_name>&vname=<your_view_name> With the correct parameters it will give the latest version of your base as CSV and will be useful in python scripts etc. Any issues getting it working please check out the docs or reach out. Additionally, any questions or concerns about how keys or data is handled that are not addressed in the docs - i’ll be happy to answer :slightly_smiling_face:
I have done a big update on my app for exporting bases as CSVs via API. You can now visit this website in your browser to easily make secure CSV endpoints for your data. Demo:
Just wanted to share this I just found out about it. Didn’t know about it. There are buttons and menus to create new records but didn’t know there are keyboard shortcuts which quickly made the favorite way to add new records. In particular if you are on the top of the table, there is no new record button (as it is on the bottom) and you had to use the right click menu (too many steps). So this is nice time-saver. To add multiple records quickly, you can use the keyboard shortcut Shift + Enter. Start by clicking the primary field above the place where you want to insert new records. Then, press and hold Shift and then press Enter (holding Enter if you want to quickly add multiple new records). Airtable Support Adding a new record You can add a new record to a table if you have editor permissions or higher in the base you are working in. Hi all, Had a bit of inspiration from this cool script shared by @Jeremy_Oglesby. My goal was to have an easy solution to categorize the transactions imported from all of my accounts/financial institutions. Here’s the scenario: There will be some frequently occurring transactions like Uber or your preferred supermarket that should have been categorised accordingly so the remaining ones can be categorised manually. Some personal finance apps might do it for you but I always find them lacking in some other areas hence I always built my own solution - previously in spreadsheets and now Airtable. This was surprisingly easy to achieve with a small modification of the script. Here’s how it works. The first table contains all the transactions data. The second table is a list of categories with a matching “keyword” separated by the pipe symbol ("|") that will be used to categorize the transactions in the first table. Here’s the script in action: Finally here’s the actual script: // BASE
At the suggestion of the Airtable support team, I am sharing this webinar recording. This is a recording from our “Amazing Things You Can Do With Airtable and PowerPoint” webinar where we explored using Airtable and PowerPoint for real-time dashboards, event promotion, reporting, and more. Happy to answer any questions about our approach and the plugin we used to connect Airtable and PowerPoint in real-time, DataPoint.
We went in-depth on how to turn Airtable into a content marketing pipeline with Hannah Wiginton of On2Air. Hope it’s helpful! whalesync.com Airtable for Bloggers How Hannah Wiginton, of On2Air, used Airtable to build a content marketing pipeline.

On Monday I’m launching an Airtable newsletter called Base Notes, where I’ll be sharing Airtable tips, news, and other info every week! Subscribe here if you’re interested: Airtable ✏️ Subscribe to Base Notes - Airtable Fill out the "✏️ Subscribe to Base Notes" form quickly and securely on Airtable. It’s only fitting that Airtable plays a pivotal role in the production of the newsletter, acting as the hub between Notion (writing) and MailChimp (list management and publishing). Eventually I’ll share more details about how I put everything together, and of course the best way to know when that’s available will be to subscribe. :slightly_smiling_face:
Admittedly, an edge case, but in working with the Airpress WordPress-to-Airtable API and plugin, I ran into problems when attempting to display only the first image from an attachment field. After hours spent stepping my way through the plugin, I finally discovered I’d been debugging the wrong module entirely. Discouraged, I took a break, fed the cat, got another cup of coffee – and then wondered if I might not be able to goose Airtable into giving me the data directly. Five minutes later, I had it. The example assumes an Attachment field named ‘images’, but should work with attachments of any type. To extract the URL MID(images,FIND("(",images)+1,(FIND(")",images)-1)-(FIND("(",images))) To extract the file name LEFT(images,FIND(" ",images)-1) This works because Airtable will cast an Attachment field to a comma-delimited string of values when it is acted upon by a text function. Each attachment value consists of two parts, separated by a space: the original file name (sans path) and th

I took a bit of a break from a custom PIM mvp that I’m building for work to make a personal photo album for my girlfriend and myself to collaborate on together. I don’t use any social media, so this is a good bridge between the gap of trying to show someone more than just a photo, and refusing to suffer the noise that comes from an endless scroll app. Plus, my girlfriend and I are both kind of big nerds, and she absolutely loves that I built something like this for us that she can show off to her girlfriends from her phone :slightly_smiling_face:
