I’ve been using Airtable for a while now on a limited basis. I really want to deploy to my entire company as a project management tool (one base with tables for Clients, Departments, Projects, Tasks, Notes, Events, etc), but two key features are missing for me: A Dashboard- What I’d like is a kind of “me view” that any user can use as a home page for the base… it would automatically display (in some simple grid/block form) everything related to a given collaborator… every client, project task, message, etc, that they are associated with… with clickable links to the actual record in Airtable. This is far more than a custom Airtable “View”, because it involves data from more than one table. I don’t have a sales background and I’m thinking this must exist already and I am probably reinventing the wheel. . . I need my table to track when and how I contacted each prospect so that I can see at a glance when I have made contact with someone, and when I should follow up and how I should follow up and notes about each connection. I am hoping to find examples that do something like this. . . . Thanks!

This week I nested an IF function three layers deep. It was hard to read and hard to write. There must be a better way, I thought. I read some articles that said to avoid nested IFs using AND / OR. Then I watched this video on how to use it: Bingo! Now I feel empowered to get even fancier with my formulas (if I need to) because I have these additional functions.

I need to calculate summary weighted averages - for example the weighted average interest rate for a number of loans that are records in a loan table. The summary bar is very limited and you cannot create any calculated fields there that I can see. e.g. Loan Amt Rate $100 5% $150 3% $600 9% The weighted average interest rate is: ( (100*.05) + (150*.03) + (600*.09) ) / (100 + 150 + 600) = .07 = 7% Any ideas as to how i can do this?

I’m looking for a solution within a form to inserat data into the database. Each data has separated fields for billing and delivery address. But sometimes they are equal, and it would be much easier to just set a checkbox if theses addresses are the same. If not, there should appear all the fields in the form to enter a different address for the delivery. Can anyone help me or show me a case where a form is done like that? thanx a lot.

I’ve noticed there have been some posts recently about Scripts for Airtable - for coders wanting a way to build clickable actions on top of airtable. I thought it might be a good idea to write an article for the non coders amongst us who may have similar needs - and it turns out that this is possible using Zapier (when Airtable is used in the Google Chrome browser). I’ve written an an article in my blog about how to configure a “Push Zap” to send an email to an employee (using my KasPer Lite base in the Universe) letting them know how much holiday (vacation) they have remaining in the current year - and also updating the Activities table in the base to record that the email was sent. I’m revealing a basic hole in my failed upbringing, but I could really remedial training on ARRAYs . I’ve looked at the formula documentation but … And, I’ve looked at the AT Community, but … So, I’m pretty sure that ARRAYS are useful and solve problems that I’m bound to have, or do have and don’t recognize the obvious solution. So, any pointers to entry-level training with lots of examples, documentation or videos will surely correct my personal shortcomings in this area.

Apologies if this has been posted before but I need to generate a ‘sexy’ appearance for my meeting details. The table layout is too much detail and spread too widely, the Calendar is fine for previewing dates, but the expanded (extended?) view you get is too Duplo - fields are too tall, so lots of scrolling for detail. Setting up a Form or a Kanban View has the same problem - the Form view is back to Duplo style, and the Kanban involves too much scrolling. From time to time I find myself moderating brainstorming sessions, and have been experimenting with the K-J technique. In most cases I have participants who are remote and therefore cannot use sticky notes. I have tried several experiments using Trello, but the limited voting capabilities and the need for authentication to do anything other than add comments is a showstopper. A fair fraction of the participants either won’t create an account, or find it too daunting to add cards. The ability to easily create forms that don’t require authentication is a huge boon for this. Furthermore, with a little gymnastics with formulae and counting, it’s possible to create interesting voting schemes: e.g. 3 points for your highest priority, 2 for the second, 1 for the third. Recently, we created a custom Vue.js web app for a national retail chain to use for internal management walks. Here are some of the features we included: Two fields (store number, date) act as a kind of key and after they are entered, the form fetches existing records that match those keys. If no record exists, it creates a record. Dropzone.js for uploading pictures and integrating with the camera on a phone/tablet. Star ratings fields. Email a read only view of the record using a field. I use airtable mostly as a product database + putting purchase orders to my vendor overseas. Each vendor uses their own weird excel cataloging system (Everyone in China does this), so I use airtable instead to send my own unique database of products in PDF format I don’t want to bother letting them know what my airtable system is and want to keep things simple This is how I control document workflows for letting my vendor overseas changes on my end: Make the relational database schema with all the items in there Add quantities to those items Create a specific view for those product items (Product SKU, Description, Image, and Quantity) Print it out using CutePDF printer (makes the adobe PDF) run OCR recognition on the PDF too Modify in AdobeAcrobat if needed Send file to vendor Whenever I have to revise the PO to resend back out to the vendor (e.g. quantity numbers change, or I have to revise my order to reflect the current container number I am putting my products through) I do the

Hello! this is my first post on this airtable forum. Its only been a few days since I’ve used this software, but I am finding so many applications I can use from this program. I’ve only touched the surface of what I can do so far though One important thing for me, at least, is taking revision logs of things I change overtime when I build my database schemas / naming conventions I tend to add many notes describing each column of data I am using. But more specifically, I like embedding image links so I can add more complex data in my field description, including but not limited to schema designs Here’s a sample gif of what I am talking about, using the “Product&Catalog Orders Template” Naturally, I will put database schema design templates or NamingConventions in these notes. From 2007 until around 2011 I was the Director of Operations for the Destiny Search Project of which I was also a Founder. The original Destiny Search Project was formed in 2007 after the disappearance and search for missing Destiny Norton in Salt Lake City, Utah. In 2008 the group was organized into a Non-Profit and operated for several years. This included searches for Camille Cleverley, Hser Ner Moo, Susan Powell and others. This is the Job Search database that I extended to include: applications, companies, positions, contacts and activities. I recently found a new job using this database. The main areas I would like to improve, but don’t see a way to do so yet in Airtable: 1) Auto-populate a position when I get a hit on an application, 2) auto-select and/or auto populate the company when I select a position or contact, 3) restrict the list of linked rows to just the rows that are a match for that company / position. I am a part-time social dance teacher and also work as an IT support person in two private companies working in dance teaching business. Some months ago I got a task from my boss - to build an application for scoring, to be used in a dance competition. The competition in question is a peculiar one: you see, in a normal dance competition, there are fixed couples dancing, and nominated judges give the scores. All existing scoring apps are build around this hypothesis. Ours was different however: it was based on peer review, ie. every leader danced with every follower and the dancers gave scores for each other. No existing application bends to this peculiar case, so I needed to build one from scratch. I also needed to make my application an online one, so at first I thought about SQLite + PHP.
