We have been watching Airtable for many many years now but have not bothered testing it any further as have been awaiting the implementation of a search box on every page that allows uses to find results from every record, in every table, in every base. Currently in the app, one can only search for a base by its name instead of the search box including all records from any base. Interestingly, I have a business associate who has also not bothered switching over to Airtable for the same frustration and mentioned they also have another business associate who is in the same boat. This is very understandable as it is such a mandatory feature for any such similar service. Surely it would take the Dev team a matter of moments to code this in and allow users to fully test the service before deciding if they would like to inevitably upgrade. Can any representative from Airtable explain the business decision for this not having been already implemented as it is truly confusing. Many thanks

The search block is great. But I use it to add content and context to tables. I would like to be able to search not only tables but also the block itself.

It'd be nice when searching for fields within the HIDE, if even though it's filtering that it still showed where that field was in relation to the others instead of hiding those other fields that don't match, perhaps greying out those fields and bolding the "found" fields? When you have a bunch of fields, it'd assist in finding that field quicker to see its position relative to the others.

What is the proposed idea/solution? A way to search a base to find references to a record, a field, or a piece of text that may exist in any of the scripts. Or perhaps have an info block on each table that would reference any automation that is triggered from it, or is referenced in an automation's javascript code. How does is solve the user problems? I am starting to get really good at automations and scripts, but sometimes I can't remember where I may have done a specific operation. Other than taking all of my scripts, pasting into text documents to search, there doesn't appear to be a way to search the platform. Having this would make development easier and allow users to avoid duplication. How was this validated? ...It would be a new feature, pretty easy to verify. Who is the target audience? ...Developers, auditors, anyone troubleshooting.

Hello! The search bar in the "Data" section of Airtable should not only function as a search tool but also as a filter, similar to how it is already possible in interface tables. Users could access relevant records faster without having to switch between filters that don't consider all records and cannot be deactivated. Not having to set up the filters again each time would save a significant amount of time. Such a filter function already exists in interface tables and would offer more flexible search and filter options. The irrelevant records still show up, while all relevant ones aren't hidden:

What is the proposed idea/solution? ...when changing the name of a Field in a Synced Table, the updated name should also be Synced. This would likely require a feature, whereby a Synced Field and a local Field can have the same name without a conflict. This should not be a problem, because it's easy to determine what is synced field vs local due to the lightning bolt icon. How does is solve the user problems? ...without this feature, any changes to a Field Name are not propagated to other Synced Tables. This causes confusion. How was this validated? ...Try changing the field name of a Synced Table and find out! It's frustrating. Who is the target audience? ...all users who use Synced Tables.

What is the proposed idea/solution? ...The Sync Source field that is created when Syncing a Table is hyperlinked to the source, which when selected will open the Source in a new Browser Tab. How does is solve the user problems? ...In order to make modifications to a Sync Source, the User must go to the Table Drop Down > Update Sync Configuration to get a link to the Source Table. What is the proposed idea/solution? When searching within a view, add a toggle to display only matching records / hide non-matching records How does it solve user problems? Quickly surface matching records within a view to see results "at a glance" instead of jumping to each match. Prevents having to click "next" button repeatedly if there are multiple search term matches within a single record. It's different from setting a filter within a view, because each filter rule only applies to a single field. Who is the target audience? Any user. Interestingly, the mechanism already exists in Airtable, but only in the Calendar and Timeline views. Click the "See records" button, and type in a search term in the sidebar that appears. You will see a filtered list of records, and it searches all fields. It's a feature I use everyday, but I've never seen it mentioned anywhere.

What is the proposed idea/solution? When you search for records in Airtable interface, then click open a record in full screen, and then return to the interface, the search bar will clear itself. This slows work flow. Also, it would be helpful if the search bar stability was improved — when typing it will have some lag when it begins searching. If you continue typing, that will be overwritten when the search is finished. Who is the target audience? All users

What is the proposed idea/solution? Be able to copy & paste a booking entry in Timeline view on a new date (similar to how you can copy & paste a cell in Grid view) instead of needing to create a new booking and re-entering all the fields on the new date. It would also be helpful to have a 'repeate booking daily/weekly/fortnightly etc.' in Timeline view. How does is solve the user problems? I use the Timeline view as a Staff schedule to see what projects they work on each week. Some staff work on the same projects weekly so I think this function would be a huge help and create efficiency with entering data. I've attached an example of our weekly schedule showing repeated bookings on multiple days. Who is the target audience? Anyone using the timeline view where similar entries are made each week.
