It would be nice if when creating new fields – especially when the fields have fixed-length content – for Airtable to default the field width to the size of the content contained in such. For example, if you create a single select field, default the field width to either the width of the longest selection option or the field label itself (whichever is longer). This would save the need to constantly resize each new field. I love Airtable and Forms. Would like to request a future feature request that would allow multi-select to be checkboxes instead of selecting from a drop-down list. I’ve found It is not intuitive to the end user to select multiple options by selecting the ‘select option’ button. A temporary fix might be once one option is selected to change the button to read ‘select another option’. The problem is if you have a hundred options, a checkbox would allow the user to see all the options. This is kind of related to Better UI/UX for activity feed but more specific. I’m new to Airtable and a huge part of its appeal is a single place to manage data and content, and to discuss it. But the width given to an expanded record’s Activity pane is insufficient to make discussion easy – to write or to read – which means discussions are too likely to end up some place else such as Slack or Basecamp. My experience to date suggests that, on desktop/laptop: The modal overlay for an expanded record has a fixed width of 838px given to it The Activity sidebar is given 308px of that Which leaves just 218px available for text content in a Comment. That’s enough for only about 30 characters per line of Comment text, and that’s a pain. Please find a way to grant more width to the Activity pane when there is sufficient viewport width available. For a selected set of records in a table, generate a report showing all the changes made to those records within a given timeframe, split by user, then split by field. I would like to see more control over hidden fields. Let’s see if I can elaborate. Keep in mind that these examples will be based on the fact that the Airtable is in “Gallery” view and is embedded on a website for the general public to view. Let’s set up a table of companies. Here we have a gallery view that shows the viewer the company logo, company name, where they are based out of, and whether or not they are still in business. You can change this information that’s displayed on the “preview” of the cards by clicking on “customize cards”. That’s great! This is the point where I suggest making changes. It would be great to see three different hidden views. Fields that can only be seen on the “front of the card/card preview” as shown above. This is great and is already implemented. No change is needed here! Fields that can only be seen when the card is expanded/clicked. This is great and is already implemented. I suggest getting rid of the “hidden fields” toggle within the card though and just display the information. Maybe have another toggle menu next to the “Customize Cards” where you can chose what you see on expanded view. (See below) Fields that can permanently be hidden, even in the expanded view. For example, the record id and form URLs do not need to be seen by anyone other than the table owner.
