Hello everyone! I need to implement order creation in e-commerce. So, I have a “Products” table and an “Orders” table. The “Orders” table has a “Selected Products” field that is linked to the “Products” table. When a user selects a product, the link is implemented and all data from the “Products” is provided in the “Orders table”. There is such a case when the user must select the quantity for each product, and the total amount must be calculated accordingly. However, I have no idea how to bind each quantity for each product that is taken from “Products” table. Can you give any suggestions to solve this problem? The architecture looks like this: Table “Orders”: fields “Selected Products”: Product1, Product 2 [links]; “Total Amount”, “Quantities” (Here user needs to enter for Product1 and Product 2); “Price” (from “Products”) Table “Products”: fields “Name”, “Quantity”, “Price” Total amount = price[0] * quantities[0] + price[1] * quantities[1] (I need such formula)

I’m working on a base to track interviews. One thing that is causing confusion is the following: when does linking tables cause issues? For instance, in the screenshot, I’m worried that structure will cause issues since: company is connected to Contacts, which is also connected to Interviews and company is connected to Job Postings, which is also connected to interviews. My goal is as follows, when I have an interview, I would like to add a new line item in Interview and be able to pick the contact and the job (e.g. job 123, with the VP of XYZ). Here is what I came up with…will this cause issues? do you have suggestions? Thank you! This community is amazing, by the way.

I am building a basic expense tracker. I have Transaction Types, Categories, & then Sub-Categories For example, I would like to input the sale of a commodity in Excel. “Transaction Type: Income > (Next Column will only select Income Categories) Category: Seed Sales >(Next Columns will only select Seed Sales Sub-Categories) > 2019 Alfalfa” Does AirTable have capability for this? I already created and tied together all my tags but the Lookup option is not the solution I was looking for.

Hello, I am a distributor with multiple resellers that I have to report back to the manufacturer with a summary of all reseller’s sales. I have identical tables for each reseller (things like invoice #, MSRP, discount, reseller level, etc,), they are all the same. I need a summary table that incorporates all the same information for all resellers so that it is basically a master table summary of all invoices (the individual invoice items do not need to be displayed here as it is on the reseller’s specific table), and grouped by year or reseller. I have tried a number of ideas and am not getting what I am looking for. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Charlie-

I wonder if anybody found a solution to disable the key combo: Control + Del Command + Del Both key combos (I am on Mac) delete the whole record (whole row). That is sometimes a problem, I press accidentally the combination of keys rather than just Delete button. Often I find it very late and I don’t even know what record was deleted so it’s hard to go through backups. Airtable Application Menus (toolbar menus) are sparse and there are barely any commands in the application menus. There is no command there to delete the record. If there was, I could use replace ot disable the key combination in the keyboard settings. I looked into Keyboard Maestro, but that disables the key combination for any application, which is not what I want. The key combo is needed anywhere else, including the Finder app on Mac. Before I go and try to mess with the Karabiner app for MacOS, which may be able to disable the key combination for Airtable only. However, I don’t have much experience with Karabiner so

We’re getting right at the upper limits of our attachment file size (20GB for the pro plan). It’s not going to make sense to upgrade to Enterprise, and we have plenty of space left for more records (35K now, and we will be archiving old records before we hit that limit). We’ve used Calculate Airtable Attachment File Sizes to figure out the biggest attachments and remove and archive them just as a stopgap until we systematically archive. My question is, when you have an attachment in one table, and look it up in another table, does that attachment count twice against your attachment size limit or only once?

I’m sure this has probably been posted in the community forum before, but just in case: It would be so beneficial to have notification badges on the table tabs (and/or on view tabs) when a new record is created. Airtable is by far my favorite software in my stack and, while I utilize it for many different purposes, I primarily use it as my CRM. Many of my tables are linked with Integromat to update automatically when I receive new orders, messages, payments, etc. Being able to see quick notification badges for table updates may only save a few seconds over manually checking each individual table - but, as a solopreneur with no tech experience to build my own custom solutions, those saved seconds would save hours in the grand scheme of “things”. If anyone has any alternate, creative solutions for this, I am always open to & appreciate advice and suggestions. :blush:

Hey all! So in an existing Google form, I have a “question” : now from my understanding, I couldn’t have a complex setup, so I’d have to have a field for each of those topics with a single select of low priority, med, high. However in a new Airtable form, I could just pull those fields under the question, Prioritize please, etc. Or is there some way to have a field for the question with those choices populated? Probably not. I mean I could have a synced table that has those subjects in it and then. well I don’t know LOL’ Just reaching out to see if there is a way so that I don’t have to create a field for all those topics with single selects. If not, not a biggy, as this table will only be storage for the data while the form will be the “pretty” part. Thanks!

I’m helping a nonprofit setup their membership system in Airtable. We have a Master Membership table with about 400 member records. Occasionally we get a CSV of member records that have renewed their membership. What do I do to update the Master Membership table using the renewals table? I realize this is a big topic, but I’m just looking to understand how to merge an update table with a master table. Thanks in advance for any guidance!

Hi everyone. I need your help please! (My first attempt in Airtable Community) Small but annoying issue for me here: Being on Pro Plan (50 000 records limit)/ Needing about 65 000 records within one base for “personal reference system”. Option 1: I could try and contact Airtable sales for “business” needs but am on a personal level, and once I get to my 65 000 records, it won’t grow much afterwards; PS: These 65 000 records are all interconnected conceptually wise and “must” stick together, so for now, I can’t see how I could split in two these records in two bases. Am not giving you lots of space for helping me (Lolll) but does anyone have any advice? Thanks in advance! Luc Montréal Canada

Hi there. I have a base set up for my businesses orders. I have a table for all my products, a table for line items per quote etc. However if I want to change the price of one of my products it will alter the value of line items from previous orders. Which I use for historical reporting etc. Is their any way to hard code the price of the product at the time of purchase? Thanks Dan

I have a list of names that I am assigning to individuals. I need to gather the assigned names and then email them to those individuals. I can’t figure out the process… See the image for example… I would love to at least have a BUTTON field be enabled to do the send for each person OR an Automation that could send them all whenever I’m ready.

Hey all! The community’s been fantastic so far, all of my queries are answered with great solutions! My question here is very simple, is there a way to freeze columns, like in excel/sheets? My table has 40+ columns and the main record is numeric count (I needed it for the lookup), so when you’re halfway through the table you can’t see which record you’re looking at, the numeric count doesn’t tell me anything, would like to have 2-3 columns frozen at any time. Thank you!

I have a table photos that has a column (Uploaded By) which stores email of the user that uploaded a photo (I am using Softr.io). I want to have another column in photos that should have name of the user (from Users table) whose email matches email in Users table, when a photo record is created. Is that doable?

Hey, I am trying to build a holiday let portal. The front end will be on Softr. I have had help on their forum but I’m still not getting where I’m going wrong? What I’m trying to do is when a person selects a country from a single select option, the next dropdown will show counties/regions in the selected country. I have tried two tables and linked fields but no joy? As you can see, I have a property page with a single select country and a separate table with counties. Then I get stuck. I have watched videos, read the documentation and I’m starting to think A) I’m stupid or B) I’m setting it up wrong … Any advice - Please!

I’m completely new to no code and Airtable. I want to create a certificate generator for Covid tests for travelers. I will need to put in basic info like the person’s name, patient no, date and test results. Then a digital certificate of this needs to be produced, which can also be printed. The each certificate must have a QR code that they scan at the border to trace everything back to the digital copy and medical centre.

Anybody has tested the limits of Airtable? I have a formula with 27,000 characters (no spaces) and still works fine. It has 1700 brackets. There was earlier discussion about limit but it seems it is inconclusive. Yes, I know this is not the right way to do it, but I am running out of fields in Airtable and cramming everything in one field saved me about 10 fields or so. I don’t have a lot of data or transactions so I don’t mind it’s a bit slower. And I don’t know how to use scripts unless I get convinced to learn a new skill. Wondering if there are limits after which I shouldn’t go e.g. chance of breaking things. Maximum formula length Formulas Actually, the limit doesn’t appear to be fixed at 32,768 characters — I have a formula nearly 34,000 characters long that works fine — but, instead, fixed at 353… somethings. I’d say “353 lines,” except for EOLs generally being meaningless to Airtable’s formula builder, and that a failing formula with EOLs eliminated

Just so that people know - copying pictures between fields leads to significant quality loss. I am not talking about copying the whole field into another field. But rather right-click copy image or right-click copy URL and then open the other field attachment viewer and pasting the image or the URL (same thing). This leads to quality loss. Original picture has higher quality and resolution. The loss happens in particular with more loss-less picture formats like PNG. I don’t know if it is still possible to extract the original image from Airtable throuth background download (CSV export), haven’t tried it yet. The only way to preserve the quality of the image is to download the image and again upload in the other field, or the copy the whole field and past all attachments into the other field.

I’m nearly certain what I want to achieve is possible with Airtable, but I don’t have the time to build it. How can I find an Airtable expert for hire?

Hi, I’m setting up a very basic mail merge database for a real estate agent, and I’m struggling to figure out the simplest way to deal with (fairly common) instances where a property has two or more owners with different surnames. How do I design the relevant fields so that a mail merge can format both the envelope and Dear *** in the letter just as elegantly for a John Smith and Betty Johnston customer record as for John and Betty Smith?

Hi, I have a question related to linked fields. I have 3 tables: Store table (list of stores in my marketplace) Products table (my inventory) - one of the fields in my products table is a linked field to the store table (indicating which store each product belongs to) Order table - here I gather my orders. One of the field is a linked field to the products table. Through that linked field, I lookup the store linked field from the Product table. And it appears as a linked field in the Order Table. The problem is that I would like to create a rollup field within the store table that relate to the Order Table but for some reason it doesn`t look like Airtable is following the relationship when there’s two table distance? Here is a simplified view (much more complex in reality, with integration into Adalo through API) Store table Product table order table In this case for instance, I cannot calculate on the Store table how many orders each store has… And given my setup it`s not real

Hi there, I hope this is the correct section for my question. I have a database with 3 tables. Once a table for vehicles. A table for drivers. And thirdly, a table in which I enter the date on which a new driver enters a vehicle - or a vehicle is turned off / parked. Now I would like to always have the name of the driver displayed in the Vehicles table, who took over the vehicle last (seen back from $today) - or it should be displayed that the vehicle is turned off / parked. In both cases, the date of the last vehicle pick-up / the last time the vehicle was parked should be displayed. Can someone help me to realize this? Many Thanks !!
