Is there a way to autofill a field from prior values in the same column?

I’ve been playing around with a template that doesn’t quite meet my needs for weeks, and trying to develop one from scratch. I could use the hive-mind help. I have a product table linked to a vendor table. I am looking to have public users submit a form (ie make an inquiry/purchase) by clicking on a product tile rather than a generic form that then forces them to choose a product from a dropdown list of all products. Zapier should be able to generate the communications between buyer and seller. Any templates out there? Any designer/developer want to help walk me through a plan? Thanks! Stu

Hello, all. I’m tinkering with the Batch Update block, in order to update values in a single-line text field. I’m looking to append text either to the front or end of the field’s existing values. Is there a way to reference a field’s existing value in the “New Value” box? So if the field I’m updating is “Name”, I would write something like [Name] & "_AddThisText" …or does the Update Value process only update to literal text strings?

Hi everyone! I’m new to Airtable and would like to setup an automated email reminder that triggers 2 days before a given deadline date placed in one column of an Airtable base. Ideally, this date could either be a new record or an updated existing record, triggering the same email reminder 2 days before due. And the email reminder would include all the pertinent data from other cells in the deadline’s row. I really liked a similar feature in Google Sheets called “Remind” but it’s not functional anymore. Love this block, but it’s difficult to get a bird-s eye view (which is the point of a Gantt chart) due to the white space between the items. I’d suggest 3 levels of “compactness”: Ultra Compact, Compact, and Normal (what it’s like now).

It took me a while to discover that the reason why “single select” was not available in the column menu, was because that column was the “primary field”. I’m not sure why this quirk exists, but is there a workaround?

Hi friends I recently tried to use automate.io to integrate typeform and airtable, the integration I used for that was the following: where I only want each record of typeform to be a record within a specific table. which I attach its configuration; where I send from a form of 5 simple records to 5 records of the same type of data. The detail is that after registering some typeform, then when checking the table gives me the following error, which is the identified of the typeform form, I do not understand why gives that error placing a record in that table and then in another record the capture of that form.

I need to freeze the top 4 rows in my table. Seems like only the top row is frozen, and I cannot drag and drop the separator line down as in Google Sheets, to move it below the 4th row. Is this not currently possible in AT?

Hello, I just got into Airtable today, so this question might be stupid, sorry in advance. I would like to have the minimum of the starting time per day (and the maximum of the end-time), however on the bottom I would like to calculate the average of these minimums(/maximums). A simple answer would be highly appreciated!

I also wanted to use Airtable in the scenario, too. My calendar view has multiple entries of the same record based on multiple dates, but I can’t find a way to organize them based on the labels attributed to each date. To better understand here is how we organize (YouTube video scheduling): Every record is a video the we will write the script, shoot, edit, and publish. Inside the record there are date fields for each of the steps needed. On the calendar view, each of those dates is a date range with a different label, so the calendar shows multiple times the same record based on the date of the production step needed. We used to achieve this using two tables, one for the videos and another for the steps. Then, each step was linked to a record on the videos table. However, we started a new base using only one table and multiple date ranges, as we migrated to a pro plan. (Also, no need to integrate with services like Napier or Integromat to auto create the steps needed for each video) My big probl

I need to make a workspace where there will be a few different bases and with a bunch of different users not all having access to all bases. Some people will need access to the whole workspace, but then there is some that only will need access to 2 out of 3 bases within the workspace. What I can’t figure out is how Airtable calculates usage if the same person will be invited to 2 bases will that count as 2 x user or will it calculate as one user as it’s the same user within the one workspace?

I’m trying to design a tasks table that allows tasks to specify what tasks are blocking them, and then calculates a priority score based on this. So, ideally: Each task has a “Link to” type field that links to all tasks currently blocking it. Each task has a formula field that evaluates to zero if there is anything in the “Blocked by” field, and otherwise evaluates to a base number (say, 10) plus the sum of the priorities of all tasks it is currently blocking. (This is a minimal example. I plan on taking more things into account, such as time estimate, task staleness, etc. But if I can get it to do at least this, adding more factors shouldn’t be a problem.) I’m running into two problems: I don’t know how to look up the entries in the same table that are linking to the current entry. I have found a few posts about this already, but none more recent than two years ago. I find this feature gap baffling, and I can’t imagine being able to use Airtable without it. My use-case is simple. I have an ever-growing list of sign-in for meetings. I want to have a separate membership table that has one row per unique person - a given person will sign in to many meetings - and, for example, a count of the number of meetings that person has attended. This is trivial to do with linked records and Rollup columns. However, as best as I can tell, for each new record in the source sign-in sheet, I have to manually add those linked records to the derived membership table. That is a nonstarter for me, and I have several other use-cases I was hoping to make after this prototype, but they all require this very simple feature. Love the Zapier integration, but without the ability to trigger on update/change/edit of a field, it’s pretty hard to keep other databases synced with Airtable - not sure if this my mistake or not. Additionally, I can’t move my system across to Airtable without the above feature or the option to run a Zapier zap on all database entires in a view/base. For example, if I want to email all my contacts, I can’t do that via Mail-Chimp etc, because the triggers only fire on creation of a record not on update/change/manual selection. Can you advise any workaround because this is one of only two barriers to me moving a client to your platform.

Hi All I have two tables in a base. One has a form where the data is entered. I do not care to see the tables because I have blocks create to visualize the data in the tables. I would like to set the dashboard as the main landing page for the base. Is there a way to change the settings in a base to have the dashboard be what you see when a base is launched? Emma

Is there a way to automatically copy values from one column into a linked column? Could I achieve this by having a formula in the linked column that copies data?

Hi fellow Airtablers, I have a large base with about 20+ tables and probably >15 fields in each, many of which are formula/lookup/rollup, so I frequently reference the base-schema block to see what fields are related before I make a change to the underlying structure. I’m struggling with the, seemingly random, directionality of the ‘dancing ants’/dashed line relationships. It doesn’t appear to be related to which direction the value is being pulled. Is there a way to have the block show the ‘precedents’ the way you can do in Excel? For example, I’d like to be able to tell if the field I’m hovering over in Table A is pulling in values from fields in Table B - or if the relationship is the opposite - if the field in Table A is actually being pulled into Table B. This would be especially useful for Formula fields that are based on other Formula fields or intra-table calculated/lookup fields. Is this feature already available and I’m missing it?

For the last few days, when I try and download as CSV, it says “preparing CSV for download” but it never downloads. This is on Chrome Version 83.0.4103.44 (Official Build) beta (64-bit), Win 10 Both on desktop and laptop, and in incognito mode with no extensions etc. It DOES work in Firefox 76.0 (64-bit), and the only difference is that the error about the WSS connection isn’t present in Firefox. Hi All, I’m really loving Airtable so far. I just imported all of my old notes from a past DB, and am in the process of linking each note to each contact and database user. I’m kind of at a loss for how to link them an get expected behavior. Up-front, I currently have about 30k entries total… 13k contacts. 17k notes designated under Engagements. I see plenty of content on how to create inherently linked fields, and have that data flow through as you create new records. I also see plenty of examples of how the data is structured in templates. In my case, from my old DB, I have a unique ContactID, a unique OwnerID, and Unique Note IDs. I would assume that linking ContactID in my Engagements to Contacts would flow through, but somehow it created a brand new series of rows in my Contacts that are completely blank, except for that field… Only about 2k out of my 13k contacts.
