I use airtable for project management and have a similar setup to this blog post - https://blog.airtable.com/automation-recipe-client-requests-emails/ I have a project that goes through multiple milestones and at each milestone, I want to trigger a notification email so it works like this - Project 1: Milestone 1 (in-progress) > Milestone 1 (Client review) > Send client email Milestone 2 (in-progress) > Milestone 2 (Client review) > Send client email etc etc. Like the blog post, I have a status dropdown that contains the following values: In-progress Client review Done As the blog post says, In our case, we want the trigger to fire when we mark a project as being ready for “Client review.” I’m able to get the trigger to work on record X the first time, but I’m not able to get the automation to run for any subsequent time that the project goes into the “Client review” stage. Is there something I’m doing wrong?

Hiya, Apologies if this has been answered before - please do direct me to where if so! I’m in the early stages of scoping a project, for which I would need reminder emails sent automatically from Airtable according to a review date as set in the record. E.g if the review date is on “October 16 2021”, Airtable sends an email on that specific date. However, in looking at the automations, it doesn’t seem to have the functionality to set the “when” to a field - only rudimentary options for “today”, “tomorrow” “is before/after”, “is exact date…” etc. Am I missing something here, or is there indeed a way to set this functionality? Is there a way to make the automations to slack for a form more detailed? Currently they are very basic saying “A change has been made to a Quote request” but I would love it to say specifically what was changed or created. Is this possible?

It would be really nice to see automations be set to whatever conditions are specified, but allow it to still be built even if a ticket doesn’t exist that matches it yet. It’s a bit cumbersome to have to build a dummy ticket that meets each set of criteria just to move on to next steps. being able to have the automation skip a field rather than stop would also be huge, I have multiple versions of the same automation now because I have to have one if Attachments is empty and one if it’s not versus just including attachments if present, or skip if empty.

Hi there, I am looking for a way to generate a document using formstack when entering a view. After the document is created and saved as an attachment I want to send this using preferrably sendgrid. Formstack and Sendgrid are both apps. But can they be run by an automation? Hope someone has an answer to this. Thanks!

Hi folks, Airtable noob here. I’m using Airtable for a media tracking project and am trying to create automations to log themes, and I’m struggling. Here’s an example: My Primary Field, “Post Text,” is the text of a tweet. If the Green New Deal is mentioned in that text, I want the linked record “Green New Deal (GND)” to populate in my “Themes” field. Here is how I set that up: But… nothing is happening. Howdy, So I have a table of devices called “Devices Log” and I let people check them out to do testing with them. ‘Devices Log’ has a field called “Owner” which is a link to a directory of testers who can check out and own devices. The check out functionality is to submit a form on a different table called “Device Checkout Log” which includes linking the device being checked out, and the owner checking it out. Now on the record for each device is a linked history of who checked out a device and when, which is useful for when digging into ownership is necessary. But I want to have a sperate field listing the current owner only. Is there a way to make an automation so that when a new record is submitted, the ownership of a device is automatically updated to reflect the new checkout?

Hello Airtable Community, I am new here on Airtable and was hoping someone could assist me with my question. I have a “Master” Table in which I would like to configure a “Form” to populate in multiple tables within the same Base . I am looking for an option to populate the record from the form based on which table I select. The goal is for the form to fill the record in the “Master” as well as an additional table of my choice. ( to have it synced based on my selection) Kindly let me know if anyone has any suggestions. Thank you in advance!

I have a ‘Master’ table listing all the organisations we work with along with a fair amount of information about the organisation. There are other tables linked to the ‘Master’ table. The first field (column) of the ‘Master’ table is the organisation name. This is also the case with 2 linked tables containing different information. I am trying to use automation so that when I create a new record in the ‘Master’ table a new record is created in the 2 linked tables with the name of the organisation in the first field. I have managed to get the records created in the other tables but they are blank. How do I get it to carry the name of the organisation over? I’ve attached a screenshot of the Action steps. Could really use some quick help from the community here! Don’t be frightened by the length of this ticket. We think there is probably a very simple answer here that we aren’t seeing. Fairly urgent as this automation is critical to the business. Our team has created an automation meant to update records in a table called UNIFIED WORKSPACE DATA when a record is updated in a different table called WORKSPACE PRODUCT DATA. The automation watches a field called “stripe_customer_id” (type: single line text) in table WORKSPACE PRODUCT DATA – when this field is updated for any given record in the table (this is the trigger), the automation then updates a field in the UNIFIED WORKSPACE DATA table called “CUSTOMER ID” (type: Link to another field) with the “stripe_customer_id” that was updated in the WORKSPACE PRODUCT DATA table (this is the action). Would love to know if it is possible to run a script in an automation that updates a task in ClickUp (and if someone could start me off in the right direction in putting that script together)? Clickup has an API that allows updating a task. It would require authentication, and the update is carried in json. Does anyone have an example of what script might look like for an automation?

Is it possible to have a second date created for a record, one that adds a new date when that record gets moved to a new view? What I want is for my editors to be able to check “accepted” in the New table and see the new date in the Accepted table.

Yesterday I build a number of automations that I fully tested and worked fine but are now broken. Trigger is new record in a view Action is update record What breaks is identifying the record. I want to update 1-2 records that are linked to the trigger record. Since you cannot use a link in the record ID column I have a look up of the record ID. I now have 2 issues. The links are showing as not valid (picture 1) where yesterday this was totally fine I cannot click to add the values. There is a open symbol but when I click it, nothing opens. Of course I publicly launched the process that relies on these automations today so it’s critical I get resolution to this ASAP.

Hi Community, I’m trying to use Automations to send a confirmation email once a record has been created. However, when I create the action and run the test, the automation is failing because the error says ‘The TO field is empty’. I have included this field correctly. I set up aprevious automation which failed the same way but eventually worked. No changes made. In this automation, everything is the same, I’m not sure what’s happening or how to fix.

I find that there is an integration option between Airtable and Eledo.online in Integromat. It can parse Airtable data to Eledo.online to generate PDF document. I think if someone can build a custom app for these automation will be great!

Hi This is related to sending an email using gmail with attachment stored in the Airtable record. I am trying to add the attachment which is stored in the table as an attachment field but , the automation is not able to resolve the attachment field. Am I doing something wrong?

Hi there, When a google sheet row is created it is then supposed to create a record in AT. Based on one Spreadsheet, it is supposed to create 6 AT records. That failed, it worked before, not sure why it did not work now. I had to go in there and re-test all the data from the 6 Create Records, in doing so then it pulled in the data. Any idea why that happened…it did it both times. Thanks Nicholas

when using the Action to Send Email, including fields that aren’t required is proving tricky because if it’s left blank, it causes the Automation to error, rather than just moving to the next step. It would be nice to see it bypass these fields and send the email with blank values rather than having to create numerous automations for different sets of circumstances.

Hello all! I have a mentor/ mentee booking system I’ve set up through Airtable. However Mentors are looking to set-up standing availability. To do this I’ve added a Weekly or Monthly to the form. I’m trying to use automation to trigger when they are selected and create new records (DATEADD 7 days ,etc), which simply need their email and the new times (a Week out, for 12 weeks, or a month out for the same). However I can’t get the automation to accept a formula (whether directly in the automation, or pulling from a new column) for the Date and Time field. It either says cannot convert the string to time, or when I have it correctly in date time then it tests successfully but leaves the date and time field blank in the new record. Any ideas on workarounds? I was thinking maybe Zapier, but it would be very clunky and many steps. Not sure if there is a way to use a scripting block here.

At this time, I’m purely using automations to copy text fields (usually a record ID) into a linked relational field to connect tables together. I’m wondering if there’s a faster way to do it so that I can avoid issues with the app running alongside my database. When a user clicks a button in my app, the data on the next screen can only load after the automation has executed. If that’s 5-15 seconds, the user will usually click through to a screen with the wrong data. If I put a timer on the button, I’d have to pick an arbitrary amount of time such as 10-15 seconds to make sure the data loads in time, which would be a while for the app users to wait. Quick automated copy-paste actions would be really helpful for app development.

Hi everyone, I have a table where I store event proposals, and I would like to make a weekly digest email about it. With formulas, I made a view that is filled with records every week with the past week’s proposals. I want to send this data in an email using automation. For the trigger event, I choose “When record enters a view” and it works fine. But whenever I test it, it only sends the records from the first row, though I have more than 20. Is there a way to send multiple records from a view? Thanks in advance!

I have a table with things such as company website, contact name, contact email. However, the contact name will change every year and I was wondering if we have a form submission with say www.123.com, John Smith, test@123 this is already in the table, if next year a new form is submitted with www.123.com, Jane Doe, jane@123, is there any way to just update the name and email while keeping all forms the same?
