Indeed, views provide a very powerful way to scope and optimize access to data. However, they cannot be dynamically altered to achieve what I consider hyper-performant script processes. Here’s an example… Imagine a table (a) with a view and when a record enters that view, search another table (b) that has 45,000 records in it for a single matching key so that a linkage can be established in (a) to (b). I’m not an expert in all manners of Airtable scripting, but I think the only way to do this is to iterate across the 45000 records in table (b) to locate the record ID such that the linkage can be updated in table (a). Ironically, searching for discussions about this place me in the commentary mix here. And even then, I’m not sure I expressed the issues succinctly. Two ideas come to mind when presented with this quandary - Ideally, there should be a searchRecordsAsync() method that uses the internal search capabilities to return a record (or record collection) given a field or record
I’m really proud to have worked on this and I hope that it brings some of you the joy it has brought me. Hey Airtable community, Today we officially launched our new Chart blocks on Softr. The new chart blocks work seamlessly with Airtable, allowing you to turn a table of records into stunning, interactive charts which can be created in a matter of minutes. To provide you with a quick example of what can be done with the new Chart Blocks check out this example of a building in public page to share your metrics. This template is now available to use today. We are continuing to iterate the new chart functionality and will be releasing a number of further improvements in the coming days. You can learn more about Charts in today’s update found here. We can’t wait to see what the Airtable community will use this new functionality for.
Hello, I just made my first Script app writing my own custom code :tada: and wanted to share  Context: I am working with a base that has gone through several iterations of development and am trying to resolve some contradictory data sets. Specifically, for a directory of people who get assigned a “level.” There are five different fields to compare and resolve so as to make a single source of truth for each person. My fiirst step is to identify where there are mismatches across the five fields (a rollup, two lookups, and two single-select fields). My first thought was to use a nested IF() ƒormula, but I found it difficult to construct the matching logic for the fields values and for when any them are without values (i.e. blank). My next thought was to use an array formula to make an ARRAYUNIQUE() out of an ARRAYCOMPACT() values (i.e. remove the blank values, then look for unique values). To my surprise, the Array functions are only applicable in Rollups or when the field
Hi, sometimes button format is not convenient, when you have to assign scripts, related to table, not records. i think that buttons needs at least be possible to show/hide in different records. And change label. And color. And script assig… okay, that could be done by “Switch” in single script :grinning: Well, I’m not with a complain or proposition, just want to share example of using Singleselect for UI. Triggered by automation, returns to default state “CHOOSE ACTION” (other records default is ‘inactive’)
If you find yourself collaborating with your team in the same base, it can be helpful to see the latest updates and when things were modified to make sure everyone’s on the same page. I have a new app on the Airtable Marketplace! Have you ever wanted to prefill a form will data that already exists in your base, but found building the url to be difficult? My new marketplace app, Prefilled Forms, creates a formula that calculates a prefilled url for a form for each record in a table. You don’t have to write any code–just point, click, copy, and paste. Use case 1: Create prefilled links for clients You already have a table of client information, and you have an onboarding form, questionnaire, evaluation survey or other form for them to fill out. You want a to email each client a link to the form prefilled with the client’s name and other details. Use the Prefilled Forms app to build the formula to for each client. Use case 2: Click a button to create records with defaults New records tend to have several fields that always have the same combination of values. For each combination, use a button field with the url for the form prefilled with that combination. Click the b

Hey Everyone, If you’ve thought of building a client portal for your business, check out or new article that explains the benefits of a client portal and in which cases it’s applicable as well as how it’s possible to build one using Airtable. Cheers, Narek
The other day a friend of mine watched as I imported 7,000 support tickets from Jira into Airtable and then auto-tagged them in less than a minute. He was amazed; I was yawning. I suppose it’s a pretty cool thing, but we often get good at something(s) and forget about how much time they save and possibly how much more useful the data becomes when we attend to the seemingly little things like consistent keyword tagging through automation. I use my Airdrop framework to do this - it’s a simple script management system that allows me to use ordinary javascript functions in Google Apps Script (or in Airtable) to perform acrobatics on Airtable data and all without setting up a new API app every time I need a new API process. But I think you can also do this through Zapier, Integromat and your own API code of course. Airdrop allows me to frame an API process in a pseudo-code script like this: Once this script is made “active”, Airdrop will run this function passing the support Titles field
Hey Everyone, The Airtable community is among the most dynamic and fast-growing communities in the no-code space, and there are many members producing and sharing educational content, tips, or news on Airtable or just offering related services. We have selected the top (in our opinion) experts in the field who are worth following. Check it out and let us know who else would you suggest to be included in the list. Cheers, Narek
