If I have a Multi-Select field that has many names of people who need to be included in communication, can I setup an Automation to see all those names and then use a Contacts table to pull the correct emails in to add in the To line for the email in the Automation? One thought I had is somehow to create a Contacts Table and then in the drop down I would show a Concatenate of the person’s name and an Employee ID. Then somehow use an automation to break out and fill a field with only the Employee ID. Then use that Employee ID in another automation that would fill the email addresses. Then somehow use that to fill in on the email automation. I don’t know if this is too complicated. I am not wanting to purchase anything else at this time from other programs. I am a Pro user in Airtable. Am I being too complicated with this? Is there a simpler way?

Hi all, I’m looking for a solution to an issue I’m having. Our business consists of running training courses and I have a client management base which contains an Organisations table, a table for individuals as well as a Courses table. What I’d like to do is be able to have the Participant field in Courses update with a name when I enter the Course History on the individuals record. Am I trying to solve a problem that can’t be fixed? Surely there’s a way to get the field to recognise that the Course Code has been entered in the Course History field in the People table. My hope is that I won’t have to enter each one manually every time. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi beautiful Airtable’s community ! I have a problem with my work time sheet. I am looking to count paid time off as a normal work day I don’t want the employee to have to enter his days off one by one, so that they are counted in my total hours. (and be counted as paid time off) I think the solution is towards automation with a script and the function of Parent record in child record When a form is sending (with the name, and ID on employee) with “congés de fin d’année/christmas holiday” → a condition from 1 to 5 December → date So create/duplicated a record with same information BUT one by day of holiday. Hey everyone, I’m having an issue with a conditional automation. Everything appears to be triggering and working correctly when things happen slowly. However, I made a script that is meant to set the conditions for another trigger. It seems like this is happening too quickly, and the automation is only triggering once instead of a few times. The script affects the K1 Override? field. My organization has to run a random lottery for our kindergarten class, and that is what the script is doing. Whoever is selected, it writes in “Selected”, otherwise “Not Selected”.The Status field has a formula that notices this and updates accordingly. The automation is triggered by the Status field. Hi! With our team we use Airtable for a lot of useful practices and one of them is time tracking. My question is about how to trigger an automated message when a single person writes more than for example 10 hours on a customer in a certain month. My (un)logical idea start was. To sum the time per month in a formula column. But i have no clue what kind of formula I need. Does anybody has an idea? Many thanks in advance!

I’m trying to implement a conditional automation, but when I go to test, even though I know the input contains a specific string, the condition group for that string isn’t being met. I also have no option to manually change the input in the testing box as promised, screenshot below of that. Has anybody else run into issues with conditional automations like that? It looks like the input is empty but I re-tested the trigger right before this and I know the record should have matched the run condition for the group.

Hi, I have 2 tables: Actors (a database of actors sorted by gender [single select], min.age they can play and max. age they can play) Actors wanted (a database where directors can input the gender [single select] and age range they are looking for) I’m trying to run an automation where when a director enters what she/he is looking for, it filters for all qualifying actors and sends an email to all qualifying actors. Problem: the filter is showing an error. I’ve tried to only filter by age, only by gender but it always responds with an error like " Invalid filter on Min. Age". Any idea what I can do to make the filter work? Many thanks

Scratching my head over this one and suspect a bug. The inputConfig object in a script run from automations (assigned by input.config()) is not updating when I add/remove/update script input variables. It’s locked to old variables that I’ve since removed and will not update when I add new ones in the inputs to the left of the script. I even deleted the automation and created a new one and it still says the old variables are all that is in input.config(). Has anyone hit this? I haven’t tried duplicating my base yet but I might… edit: Walked away for a few minutes and now it works. :person_shrugging: bugginess confirmed

Hi, I have a simple form, where user should enter a few data on first visit, like date, company name, job description… So, how can I insert a certain value (eg. letter “a”) in one column w/o that the one who is inserting this data would even know. Description: Someone is inserting a job listing via form and obviously the opening is active (a), but latter on this would be closed (c), or postponed (p)… so first value, first time data is entered, should be “a”, but I don’t want that user would even bother with this (yes, could be a field with only one option to select… but as said, I don’t want user to bother with this)?

Hello, I tried using conditional automation to compare dates. This did not work. Can you explain to me why? I tried in 2 ways- one: comparing dates, the other: creating two conditions with ‘or’ between them and a condition that asks if my new date or before or after the previous date.

I’m trying to figure out an automation path for a company. Can you help me figure this out? I can’t afford having many collaborators on Airtable so I can’t use the Interface Designer. Also I should be the only one with whole access to the database. This is the process I need to automate: 1- A form is completed 2- Based on the continent of who created this form, a different list of reviewers (A) will receive the response of step 1. They will decide whether they approve it or not and assign the next reviewer (B) to this response. 3- The next reviewer (B) will receive the response from step 1 and fill a new form about it. 4- The third reviewer (C) will receive both the form from the step 1 and 3 linked together.

Hi there, I have built an automation that will: Step 1: Trigger when a record is created in Table A Step 2: Find matching records based on a condition in Table B Step 3: Update a linked field on all matching records from Step 2 with the ID of the new record from Step 1 For Step 3 I have written a script as I understand the “update record” feature can’t handle multiple records. The script isn’t producing any errors however it isn’t working. It should update the field “Applicant Record” with the record ID from Table A - at the moment nothing is being added. Would you be able to help check if I’ve made a mistake with my code? Cheers!

Hi there, I am building an automation that should trigger when a record is added to a view That part completes flawlessly The last field is C2. Conditional automation should trigger when C2 contains Testing And even though the record field C2 contains Testing, the automation errors out With a super unhelpful lack of an explanation for why this isn’t working. Hello! I have a table of employees, with their name, work start date, and birthdate, as columns. I’d like to create another table to show me only the employee names whose birthdays and annual work anniversaries are coming up within the next 7 days based on today’s date. I’d love to also calculate, in this table, the number of years they have been at the company. This sheet should update automatically every day to include only the employees who have birthdays and annual work anniversaries within the next 7 days, and should remove the employees who no longer match that criteria. Is this possible in Airtable, and if so, how should I create this table? Thank you!

Hello! I’m trying to create a content calendar that creates automated records. For example, if I know that I want to post to Facebook every day at 9AM, I would like Airtable to automatically create records for the posting time/day in advance. Ideally, every week it would create the records for three weeks in advance. I can see where I can automatically trigger an automation to run weekly, but I can’t figure out how to set a relative date for the record I want created (i.e., first “create record” is 21 days in the future, second is 22 days, etc for the week). Is this possible?

We have a form that students fill out and I need to be able to automate a search on every submission that will search for certain trigger words that will alert us if a student needs immediate intervention. Is this possible?

I have an automation that takes a record and transforms all the data within it to a custom json data structure. The final line of this script looks like await table.updateRecordAsync(targetRecord, { 'json': JSON.stringify(recordOutput, null, 2).replace(/\\"/g, '"')+"\n" } Where recordOutput contains my json structure and all mapped values for the record that was triggered. This works fine, the Airtable field json looks exactly how I’d expect: (double clicking on any of these fields reveals the rest of the output). Here’s the issue: When I copy these fields, I get a string where each object and text string is wrapped in an extra double quote: "{ ""display"": true, ""featured"": false, ""

Hello all, I’m trying to automatically update a grid of available appointment times to reflect the current date with our appointment times, I can’t seem to figure this out on the formula side or the date list side of things. I tried to create a formula: DATEADD({All Time Slots},1,‘days’) And this keeps the same time slots as the previous day, but I can’t set an automation to use the formula field to update the ‘Time Slots’ field because it is a calculated value. How can I keep the appointment schedule grid updated with the current date and appointment times?

I’m attempting to use the the “Find Records” action as part of an automation designed to notify me when there are multiple records with the same description. The way I currently have it set up: Trigger: When Record field “Issue Description” is Updated Action: Find Records where “Issue Description” IS (also tried Contains) “Issue Description” from Step 1 [to identify if it’s the same description] The automation runs every time I update the field, but keeps returning result of 0 records found even though there are indeed other records with the same description. Not sure what I’m configuring wrong or need to fix to get this to work.

Hello All - I am struggling to figure out how to get an attachment to be added to the email that is triggered based on time values. The current emails as I have the process set up are coming in the body of the email which makes it very hard to review the data, etc. Any suggestions here for someone super new to Airtable?

Hey everyone, I’m building my database into a website and in order for me to create filters, I need a lot of data in form of multi-select fields. I have two cases where I struggle to automate this: A linked record column: I want to have whatever is in this column to always be added to a multi-select field A roll-up field: I want the values that the roll-up gives me to be added to a multi-select field Currently, I need to always copy the entire column and paste it into a multi-select field. That works for now but isn’t really scalable and it’s too easy to forget / make mistakes. Has anyone come across a way to automate this? Thanks so much in advance! Tim

I’m trying to use automation to select rows from a parent table based on start and end dates in the parent table. How do I ask for rows where my ‘start date’ field is less than the current date and my ‘end date’ field is more than 7 days in the future. I have both the ‘start date’ and ‘end date’ created as a date, but in automation I’m on;y given the option of selecting specific dates, not dates less than or dates greater than a value.

Hi Everyone, I have created a scheduling process in Airtable to create events on my calendar but for some reason someone that creates it outside my timezone the even takes the format DD/MM/YYYY to MM/DD/YYYY. This works for my country but it seems to not working properly outside. I have fields configurated to european dates as well as my calendar is configured to european format DD/MM/YYYY. What can i do? No Zappier please :frowning:

I have successfully created an automation that forwards a notification email to another email address besides the main account holder. The problem is that I cannot include in that notification email information about the specific form submitted (like title of form or include information from the fields in the form. Please help!
