Yesterday I build a number of automations that I fully tested and worked fine but are now broken. Trigger is new record in a view Action is update record What breaks is identifying the record. I want to update 1-2 records that are linked to the trigger record. Since you cannot use a link in the record ID column I have a look up of the record ID. I now have 2 issues. The links are showing as not valid (picture 1) where yesterday this was totally fine I cannot click to add the values. There is a open symbol but when I click it, nothing opens. Of course I publicly launched the process that relies on these automations today so it’s critical I get resolution to this ASAP.

Hi Community, I’m trying to use Automations to send a confirmation email once a record has been created. However, when I create the action and run the test, the automation is failing because the error says ‘The TO field is empty’. I have included this field correctly. I set up aprevious automation which failed the same way but eventually worked. No changes made. In this automation, everything is the same, I’m not sure what’s happening or how to fix.

I find that there is an integration option between Airtable and Eledo.online in Integromat. It can parse Airtable data to Eledo.online to generate PDF document. I think if someone can build a custom app for these automation will be great!

Hi This is related to sending an email using gmail with attachment stored in the Airtable record. I am trying to add the attachment which is stored in the table as an attachment field but , the automation is not able to resolve the attachment field. Am I doing something wrong?

Hi there, When a google sheet row is created it is then supposed to create a record in AT. Based on one Spreadsheet, it is supposed to create 6 AT records. That failed, it worked before, not sure why it did not work now. I had to go in there and re-test all the data from the 6 Create Records, in doing so then it pulled in the data. Any idea why that happened…it did it both times. Thanks Nicholas

when using the Action to Send Email, including fields that aren’t required is proving tricky because if it’s left blank, it causes the Automation to error, rather than just moving to the next step. It would be nice to see it bypass these fields and send the email with blank values rather than having to create numerous automations for different sets of circumstances.

Hello all! I have a mentor/ mentee booking system I’ve set up through Airtable. However Mentors are looking to set-up standing availability. To do this I’ve added a Weekly or Monthly to the form. I’m trying to use automation to trigger when they are selected and create new records (DATEADD 7 days ,etc), which simply need their email and the new times (a Week out, for 12 weeks, or a month out for the same). However I can’t get the automation to accept a formula (whether directly in the automation, or pulling from a new column) for the Date and Time field. It either says cannot convert the string to time, or when I have it correctly in date time then it tests successfully but leaves the date and time field blank in the new record. Any ideas on workarounds? I was thinking maybe Zapier, but it would be very clunky and many steps. Not sure if there is a way to use a scripting block here.

At this time, I’m purely using automations to copy text fields (usually a record ID) into a linked relational field to connect tables together. I’m wondering if there’s a faster way to do it so that I can avoid issues with the app running alongside my database. When a user clicks a button in my app, the data on the next screen can only load after the automation has executed. If that’s 5-15 seconds, the user will usually click through to a screen with the wrong data. If I put a timer on the button, I’d have to pick an arbitrary amount of time such as 10-15 seconds to make sure the data loads in time, which would be a while for the app users to wait. Quick automated copy-paste actions would be really helpful for app development.

Hi everyone, I have a table where I store event proposals, and I would like to make a weekly digest email about it. With formulas, I made a view that is filled with records every week with the past week’s proposals. I want to send this data in an email using automation. For the trigger event, I choose “When record enters a view” and it works fine. But whenever I test it, it only sends the records from the first row, though I have more than 20. Is there a way to send multiple records from a view? Thanks in advance!

I have a table with things such as company website, contact name, contact email. However, the contact name will change every year and I was wondering if we have a form submission with say www.123.com, John Smith, test@123 this is already in the table, if next year a new form is submitted with www.123.com, Jane Doe, jane@123, is there any way to just update the name and email while keeping all forms the same?

Hello, I’m an Airtable novice. We have Table with existing records. I’d like to create a Form view that allows users to add an attachment to an existing record. Someone from Airtable’s helpdesk said it may be possible by creating an Automation, but I can’t figure out how to do it. Any advice? Thanks in advance for your support! Steve

Hi, I have been unable to delete an automation after setting it up. Since it was live , I changed the base to something unconnected. Despite that the emails were sent when the event occurred. ! I am setting up an automated email to let an external team know there is now work for them in their system. I can get the email to send based on the trigger event. My issue is with adding dynamic fields. When I click the blue plus in the message or subject line, My automation screen goes blank. Don’t get any drop downs to select fields. Am I missing a system update or is there something else going on I need to look at?

This new automation feature is amazing! Finally we can automate our task workflow as projects move through different phases. This is a real time saver. Just wondering if there is a way to set a due date on a task for the day after the automation runs. Anyone have any ideas?

Hi there, I have a communications calendar that I’m trying to have automate some email sends through the Gmail automation. I have my emails on that table as a lookup field, but the automation isn’t recognizing it as an email address so it’s failing the test. Is there a formula that will basically copy what’s being looked up and just format properly so that it’s an email address? Thank you for your help! Amy

Hello everyone! I am trying to build an ATS (Applicant Tracking System) using AirTable. I basically have a Candidates table, a Companies table and a Candidate_Company table that links a candidate to a company including other infos such as the recruitment step of the candidate in the company. Whenever a new candidate is created, I’d like to automatically add rows in the Candidate_Company with the newly created candidate id and the id of all the companies. Same when I add a new company so it automatically add rows in the Candidate_Company with the newly created company id and the id of all the candidates. From what I’ve understand so far, Automations alone won’t be able to do that, it looks like I’ll have to combine Automations and Scripts, am I right? Do you have any article or tutorial that could give me some hints on how to proceed? Thank you! :slightly_smiling_face:

Hello! My setup is : two tables fisrt is made with my participants second is made of my categories (event A, event B,…) I am looking for updating the number of participants recorded in my first table in each event that are in my second table. So far, I could compute the total number of participant by event in table 2, but I cannot find out how to update this calculation while a new record is occuring. Because automation Update record replace the value : it seems impossible to append a record, nor to use a variable like “ALL RECORDS” (for example). How can I manage this issue ? Thank you !

I think there’s a glitch in the Google Sheets automation. I set up this automation and the data is showing up in completely random columns on my Google Sheet. I’ve double checked and I mapped the columns correctly. Anyone else dealt with this?

This is driving me slightyl potty. I have a table which records staff absence meeting outcomes. It links to the individuals main staff record though a link to another record column. The staff absence records have a check box - which when ticked should trigger an email automaiton. I’ve set the ‘when a record is updtaed’ trigger no issues. I’ve linked gmail account. Settign the email to send though is causing me pain. The ‘To’ feild - blue ‘+’ click on ‘record form step 1’ - continue. All the record fields appear (is field the correct word - the columns in the table I mean) so when I then click on the linked record I expect a black feild values arrow to appear so I can selct the feild that contains the email address in the linked record. But what actually appears is another continue whcih leads to a drop down with ‘list of properites <>length’ and make a new list of <>ID <>Name. Tried using an extra lookup field in the staff absecne tabl

Hello humans who I hope can help! I successfully set up a Slack message automation on to one view/action, but as I try to replicate that automation, I’m getting an error in testing. The trigger is working fine, but if I add any Record lookup into the message, I get a testing error that reads: “Message” refers to a trigger or action that does not exist. Here’s what it looks like: And I have no clue what could be wrong. Help?

Hi! I am trying to set up an automation so that when we update the record, an email is sent out to a client with the updated notes. However, when I use the date link in the Automation, the email test comes back with “2020-10-30T18:04:00.000Z” as opposed to the US format (10/30/2020 at 6 pm). Am I missing something that is causing this to come out this way?

Hi, I’m trying to create automations - that an email is sent when a record has a certain status. What I’d like to do is include certain fields in the email, so that the email includes, for example, a records name. Ideas?
