Base Design

hi all – Trying to help my agency put together a menu of deliverables that we can use with clients to help them plan their budgets/programs for the upcoming year. Essentially the base needs to cover: what the deliverable is estimated time in hours to complete (this needs to be a range, as we bill hourly) ideally some way clients can opt in to what tactics they want to pursue, and then a total estimated bill associated with that Any ideas?

Problem 1: Here is the set-up we are currently designing. I have Location Name linked to Clients (to keep up with work done for each location throughout the year) More importantly - I really need to track Work Order #s. Problem is when I link this field to Clients I only have the option of the Client Name since Incoming Request is the first time this number is used. I’ve thought about adding the Incoming Requests table to the Clients table but our client table is prepopulated with the address of each location and I cannot figure out the best way of doing this. My going crazy moment is: How do I link, rollup, lookup, or whatever option I need to use to track this Work Order #. Ideally, I need to pull up a Work Order# and everything associated with that WO# populates. If I use the linked Location Name I get all the work for that location and not a particular WO. Problem 2: In my base, you see the workflow table. I have all the tasks and subtasks set up but cannot figure out how to link

Greetings, I have a base for job hunting that I would like to share with others, but it currently requires too much manual entry to be widely practical. The structure of the base is: Company -> Positions <-> Contacts <-> Activity Every table is optionally linked to all the other tables. The problem is that, let’s say I’m looking at a Contact, and I want to indicate that I spoke to someone on the phone – in the Activity record I may need to link to up to two additional tables manually (Company, and Position) even though the Contact record is already linked to a particular Company and Position. Is there a way to automate filling in these record links so that the base is easier for folks to use? Here is the ERD of the base for those so inclined:

This is a feature request. I use the android Airtable app to add records to a table. There is a single line text field “Description” followed by a multiple select field “Tags”. I type into Description and then I touch the Tags field: the list of existing colored tags appears, preceded by the tag search box. I start typing the tag to search but it gets typed into the Description field, because the focus is still with the preceding field. My requests is: when the list of tags appears, its search box should immediately receive focus, so that whatever I type actuallly searches a matching tag.instead of being typed into the preceding field, “Description” in my case.

So I want to start hiring and streamlining the whole process - AirTable looks like the perfect fit - not too overly complicated and keep it simple. Basically here is what I am after - I’d like to know how I can acheive this: I need to have a business process flow map - I know you have a Block that creates flow chart. I would like this flow chart to clearly show required inputs and outputs for a task/s - is this possible I’d like employees to be able to input into forms the output of a task and have it tracked to that recurring buisness process - I’d like to be able to clearly see which business processes are waiting on who (so do I need to get something to my employees or do they need something from me?) Assign these processes to users - this should be fairly straightforward Ideally I will have tasks that are recurring - whether that be daily, weekly etc. I’d like to keep a track of this for each of the recurring occurences - has it been done - who’s waiting on what? Hi all, Trying to wrap my head around this one. In my table I have 4 overarching categories: say A, B, C, D. Underneath each of those I have a variety of sub categories, around 5-10. Those two categories are single select fields. And each of those sub categories has a number of items attached to them, which are just longform text. What I’m trying to achieve is a numbering system that looks like this: 1.2.5 which translates to Category 1, subcategory 2, item 5 Is it possible to set something like this up? I’ve been playing around with formulas but have gotten stuck.

I want to track what items are in which room. What is the ideal solution for this? For now, I am not interested in the quantity, but only that a certain item exists in a room or not. For the items exist unique categories, namely furniture, tool and machine. This is what I have created so far, two tables ‘Room’ and ‘Interior’: Currently, I do not have a junction table. I created three columns in the ‘Room’ table based on the unique categories and linked it to the ‘Interior’ table. I restricted the link per view (depending on category). Is this the best possible way to present the information I want? Or do I need a junction table and if yes how do I implement it?

We’re still in the testing phase with airtable so we’re new to the tool. Question: how can you/do you filter (or search) on a number field? I’d like to filter for greater than or less than, or for numbers within a range, but the only filter options I see have no relationship to numbers and search doesn’t seem to work on a range. Use case: creating a mailing list for businesses of a certain size, or within a size range.

Hello, We run a marketing agency, and are on-boarding several clients every week. The issue we encounter is to keep track of the post on-boarding phase. Is there a way to have Airtable automatically create a task say 30 days after a certain trigger event? For example, when a customer moves from on-boarding phase to “complete” phase, schedule a follow call in 30 days. Essentially, it’s [date when moved to deal stage] + 30 = task date. Any ideas? I am building a cultivation tracker for my relationships with grantmakers. Unlike a grants tracker, this is not going to track when we receive grants specifically, it’s going to track my cultivation efforts which are mostly relationship and communications based. I built a base design to show the org, contacts, most recent activity etc. but I’m having trouble with assigning activities and showing that they are done. Essentially, I have a table that shows me all of the organizations with fields for their contacts and most recent activities linked to other tables. But I also have a To Do table I want to link to it that will automatically move the task to the “recent activities” table once it’s marked completed. Is this possible? I’m also open to color changes as a solution, having all activities in one table and having them show up differently on the organizational overview table when they are complete etc. I just don’t want to have to manually copy and past over completed activities, or

Hi there We want to have a fixed list of Customers in a single table. That’s easy. On other tables (and ideally on bases) we want to have a single (or multiple) select that uses only the names from that master customer table. I can’t figure out how to do that, and I’ve gone down the rabbit hole with linked lookups, but I don’t think that’s is either. How can we have a fixed list of vales that are available as a Select in a new field but are sources from another table? Thanks! -j

Hey all, I am a completely newbie to Airtable as of today and so far I’m hooked! This has been a great way for me to organize my info in relation to my blog! The thing I can’t quite seem to get the hang of, however, is linking. I’ve read all the articles and watched some videos, but I can’t seem to figure out how to make it do what I want it. I have a tab for all my current blog topics with categories and notes on each. Then I have a second sheet for blog post ideas. On each idea, I have some notes and tasks I’d like to do. So when I’m getting ready to add a new blog post into my blog posts lists, I’d like to be able to choose a topic from my ideas list and have it populate the information that was on that topic in the other sheet into my blog list without manually typing out all the info again. (did that make any sense?) I am very lost and getting a little frustrated so any help would be appreciated. (I have attached some screenshots for reference)

Is there a way to capture info (metadata) about each table and each field? Just a short description of what purpose the table/field serves, or special notes like how to use/what not to do - that sort of thing.

Is there a way to translate this base? I would love to see if it is a template I could use for inspiration.

I created our company workflow process by using the Workflow Process & Procedures base with 3 tables (Processes, process stages, process tasks) Now with the Actual Company Base - (PM me if you are interested in helping me finalize this stress :slightly_smiling_face: ) Do you combine both bases? How can I combine, do I need to combine, the information together for the flow process to work? It just seems like I am creating multiple un-necessary tables that are used for background details that cause a distraction or waste space in 1 base.

Okay. This is something I know I can do in something like Ninox, so I’m wondering if its possible in Airtable. Basically I want to be able to have a “Dashboard/Settings” table, where a user can select options that will filter things in another table. I’m working on a cross stitch database, which individuals would use. It will track things like inventory, projects, shopping lists etc. The simplest use case of the settings table would be to say, have an option that is “Show discontinued threads?” with a checkbox. If they check the box, then the thread inventory table will show discontinued threads. If unchecked, they will be hidden. Is it possible? I can live without this feature since I’ll probably create the database in Ninox as well, but would be nice if I could :slightly_smiling_face: .

Hi! I am hoping to take records I have in 1 table of my base and expand upon them in detail while retaining the organization of the groupings I used when first creating the records. So essentially I want to pass through data that was already written to a record rather than needing to do a pretty hefty data-matching effort to translate into a new table. Because of the fluid nature of what I am trying to organize I am working to create a series of ways to slice the same information that is too big for just 1 table to handle. Parsing it into tables before rolling it into the “master table” has been effective but I’m starting to get tripped up at this point in the development / curation process. I have a single select field with Yes/No options. Instead of soft Blue/Green I would like Bright Green and Bright Red plus different icons that are more obvious. I have a PRO account but this is my first attempt at this. Do I have do use a Block to accomplish this? If so which one?

My team has a task that is shared by all employees in the team. We set up a rotating schedule so that we know who has responsibility for the task on any given day. Is it possible to set something like this up in Airtable?

I need to create a UI where the user enters a name, clicks on a submit button, and then gets a list of results for that name. My users, mostly 60 years and up need something real simple. I get that this can be done with Filters but i need a UI that is a LOT simpler than what Airtable Filters has. Is this at all doable?

I have a file that I receive from my customer that I want to import then set up for my team to use. The issue is that the table comes in organization that does not work well in the airtable environment.
