Base Design

Hi Airtable: I would like to set up a basic base with one table to calculate two different expenses. I would like to start with the grand total amount for 2020 and then minus the two expenses, as they come up and then give me the new grand total. I am just not sure how to set up the calculating functions. Thank you, Mary K

Hello, I am trying to make a base that will track truck usage for our fleet. It’s just about done but I need a multi select field for each truck . I thought I would be able to reference another table and not have to fill out every staff member for every truck multi select field but I can’t see an obvious way of doing this? It seems like a basic function so I’m sure I’m just overlooking something. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I have a table, called ‘Industry,’ with 2 columns of Industry type codes. The first column has many repeat values in it, the second column are unique values, for example: Manufacturing Textile Mills Manufacturing Apparel Manufacturing Manufacturing Paper Manufacturing In another table I have a column called ‘Industry level 1’ which contains values from the first column of the table above (Industry). I’d like to add a 2nd column to it that’s a single select that looks up the values available for Manufacturing and displays them as the choices for the 2nd column. I’ve seen a range of questions like this asked but none answered that didn’t invoke JSON and code. Is there some way to do this natively in AirTable? Thanks!

Hi there! I’m fairly new to Airtable. I am working on a base to track bid requests, assembling an estimate and tracking orders for a construction company. Using the base template for a product catalog, I’m making some progress, but am stuck when it comes to pricing. The majority of our builds are custom and we are just beginning the data capture process. Right now, someone can fill out an estimate form. Then we review home plans, and identify material required to assemble an estimate. An estimate includes material prices + manufacturing time + our labor + delivery (optional), etc. I’m stumped on the Material Pricing Table. The two main components are wood of some variety and steel/hardware. Each component has several potential vendors (listed on a different table). Any help is truly appreciated! I’m trying to migrate my inventory management into Airtable from GoogleDocs and I have a feeling it will do what I need it to do but I seem to be stuck in Excel thinking. Currently in GDocs use three sheets to manage stock. First with all the items individually listed by order of unique serial numbers, second with item descriptions assigned to each SKU code (this is then pulled to first sheet) and lastly a stock counting sheet where I simply scan serial numbers during a daily stock count. First sheet then checks if there’s a match of its record in the third sheet and if there’s a match it simply displays a “Found” message, if there’s no match it marks an item as “Investigate”. I tried to include images but apparently I’m not allowed images or links for some reason :frowning: In case this is relevant, the lookup formula for the stock count looks like so: =IFERROR((IF((VLOOKUP(A2,count,1,FALSE))=A2,“FOUND”," ")),“INVESTIGATE”) The closest I get to replicating this

I have created a table for our small architectural firm based on the “project tracker” template I found in Airtable. Once a task is completed, I need to be able to hide the task in the table view so that it is clear at a glance where there is work to do for each project (and have the option to unhide for when I need to review task history). I have worked out how to filter tasks by their status in the Task tab but seem to be unable to do so in the main table. When you are looking at the table, there’s no way to distinguish completed tasks from incompleted without opening up the row, and looking through all the tasks, which is causing me problems in meetings. Right now, the owners have me manually adding asterisks to the text of completed tasks AND I’m having to delete most completed tasks anyway, because they really pile up on the table view since I can’t hide them. Hi, I’m a first-time Airtable user testing out the User Research template. Is it suggested to delete the sample data records and add your own records, or is there another place in Airtable where records get created?

The records in one of our main tables are legal cases. Each case has the same set of tasks that need to be done to it. When we create a new case record, we want to automatically create the appropriate set of tasks in a task table and have them connected to the new case. Can we do this? If so, how? Thanks!

Does anyone know if there’s a way to autofill the project details box based on the Tasks or Task Type? It would be great as we have specific projects that repeat and it would save time to not need to fill out the project details each time we create a record.

Is it possible to reference a specific Field in a Table from another Table in the same database not just the Name of the records but a specific field with in it. Such as currently only the first field shows up when you used a linked record. Is there a way to say pick a record and display a field from that record OTHER then the first field?

I have threee tables: Projects, Phases and Tasks. In each project I have different phases. Record in Tasks is linked to Project. In Tasks I want dropdown field with just related Phases to selected Project.

Hello, I’ve a Linked Table with many entries which are populated by this linking feature. I’d like to add a field that counts all linked entries belonging to that entry. All I could find was the build in Count feature, but it’s only applicable to 1 entry. I’ve been trying different formula combinations, sum, lookup, count, counta. no success yet… How to calculate this?

I need to collect data from my customers asking them what issues they are facing. Is there a way in airtable for me to sort that data by repeating/common topics? For example if I ask what prevents them from pursuing their dreams and 500 people were to say ‘time’, how can I make it so that time is at the top of the list above less common topics so that I know it’s a big concern for my customers?

Hello Airtable users! Newbie here to the community and beginning to dabble into Airtable as well. Trying to do my 4th project in Airtable, the first 3 were simple directories and inventories. This one is a bit more complex and I am struggling. This task that I do happens every year during Lent in our Diocese, I am trying to hopefully automate it from now on to some extent or at least make it visually easier. My yearly task I send out a Google Form to all the churches in the region (roughly 40) and ask for their service schedule during the time period of Great Lent. Everyone fills out the form, I generate a table that lists the churches and their equivalent Lenten service, convert to PDF, post online and distribute. I thought about a dedicated calendar that people can subscribe, but it might be too cluttered. I am asking for some advice. I am working on a problem that I have with my Base. That problem is that I am attempting to automate data updates to one table from 4 other tables on a weekly basis. The puzzle is that I am tracking events that occur on each of these 4 tables on a weekly timeline. These events are by employee, in the case that they incur a trackable event on that week. We are tracking these events on a week (or month) per the time stamp on each occurrence. Each event results in either a positive or a negative score. This score is then subtracted/added to/from a credit on a different table. I have run into two problems. First, I tried to roll up each occurrence on the Employee directory. Rolling up there created an accumulation of points, not tracking by week. I then did a look up on the table with that person’s weekly stats. That repeated all the scores from each week to every week thereafter, making that occurrence manipulate their score every week instead of just the w

Hello Airtable community. Newbie here. I recently come across the Airtable app on android and I am hooked. I am a beekeeper and I want to track progress of my bees using Airtable. I have multiple bee houses with multiple beehives in them. I think that Airtable will be great for that but it has some quirks that I hope I will be able to solve. I will have multiple bases. One for each beehouse. And there will be approximately 60 tables in each base. One table per hive. Because I can’t share views between tables I will create a view in the first table and then I will duplicate this table 59 times. I have a few quirks to solve. The biggest is. Is it possible to have filters for bases? For instance. If one or more hives have some problems to solve it will be easy to set the filter to the whole base instead of search for each problem in the table individually. Am I able to link two records in the same table together? I have two tables called “Contacts” and “Attendance” Each meeting, I record attendance and which contact meeting with who since the last meeting Each new meeting is identified by date and the “Attendance” table is grouped by date to identify the meetings If Ann has a meeting with Greg, I’d like to add Greg to ann’s record in that meeting, but I’d also like Ann’s name to be added to Greg’s record for that meeting. While I could scroll back and forth during the meeting double-entering every entry, I feel that there’s an easier way to do this. The goal is to track how many “one-on-ones” each person has had since the last meeting. Perhaps I need a new table or a different methods of database design. Hi friends, I’m new to Airtable A friend recommended this tool to me because of its adaptability to create data collections without the need for a custom tool. I have the following doubts, after I checked the airtable help tool create formula in the primary field. I took the sales crm template and just want to simplify it, only the relationships it brings are not what I need and after reviewing the help I still have problems. the idea is the following from the contact table to relate it to accounts just for one id (i don’t know if the autonumber function will work) The idea that if you can’t use autonumber, you could use email as your unique identifier. Then, the connection to the account table (which I will convert into services) will link it to the users’ email (one-to-one relationship) (as unique identifier) (the idea is that for each user you can have a one-to-many relationship; so, for each user by x amount of services)

I’m going to be really specific. I will have a medal tally which I want to be updated by many different event tables. These event tables will basically have an empty field to put in the winners’ name. Then depending on which fields are selected for Gold, Silver or Bronze, that will populate my Medal Tally tabe. Hey all, I’m trying to create an estimating tool that pulls pricing details from one base and sums them together. I have 10 “item” fields and 10 “quantity” fields. The item field is linked. The goal is to select the item, enter a qty and then get one big total for all the prices as well as the individual totals for each item * qty. Problem 1: I now have 10 linked fields on the services base. I can just hide them, but I don’t understand this at all. Problem 2: Do I have to create 10 lookup fields to pull the pricing details into the estimate base and then have that be the data that’s used for the formula? Is there an easier way? Thanks!
