Hey there, I’ve decided to venture into trying to achieve my mail-merge in Airtable. Premise: I have pre-written documents written by a lawyer to issue to new clients. (the copy is multi-language but the details of the project and the client remain constant) I would like to synch the client name, and project details into the copy. I’ve read and have tried to make the CONCATENATE approach but I feel it is very messy, and ineffective should the copy change at a later date, it also I will need to weed through the formulas to fix it. I tried another approach of creating a separate table of “parts” that at pulled in as needed, but since they come in as an array it made it tricky for me to figure out how to reference each key of the array. I’d love to hear from anyone who has tried this endeavour before.
Evening All, I'm building a data structure in airtable to represent a rather large tree style database. We're talking about 50k to 100k objects in the tree. I've got the heirachy view working quite nicely by uploading the components using the api, and then (again using the api) linking the objects with parent/child relationships. The next issue I have is some of the data the objects have. Most objects in the tree have a unique set of data. For example, one might have {colour, size and weight} while another might have {power, consumption}Is there a good way of representing this? The cleanest way I found was by creating another table of this data and then linking it to the original objects, but with 650k data points, this doesn't seem feasible on a large scale.I can add them as generic fields i.e. data01, make it a text type and then put the value in like "colour:Blue", but it's not ideal.Let me know if you have any suggestionsRabbit
Hello everyone, I’m running a speed dating business and would like to automate the matching system. What I want is the following. After the speed dating, each participant will receive an airtable form in which they can each select any number of participants of the opposite sex that they want to match. If Woman1 selects Man1 AND Man1 selects Woman1, then a formula must be triggered and I’ll then use zapier or the email block to send emails automatically with each other’s private info. Any idea on how to organize that ?
Apologize for this possibly simplistic question, but here goes:I want to create a field that is a Category, that based on the category value selected, will ONLY display a list of relevant Sub Category values for the selected category. EXAMPLE (Simplified)1. I have a field that is Product Category - it has two values: Mobile, Home.2. If you pick Home for Product Category, for the Product Sub Category, I would want to display the Home Sub Category values. (Wireless, Wireline, Other services)3. To take it one step further, I would also like the Product Sub Category could have Product Sub Category 2, that would show ONLY relevant values based on the Product Sub Category. (eg. Home > Wireline > 5G Router, 4G Router, Extender, etc.)Is there a way to set up a table to have this hierarchical relationship. Do I need to refer one table to another, etc.? How do I do this in Airtable? I would prefer to have the values exist in a table and not buried in a formula for vis
I have a group of freelancer reporting weekly on how many hours they worked on various projects. Im looking for a way (either through a view or interface) to see a report of how many hours are worked, by each employee, on each project, per week.
I am attempting to create a SignUp Page in Airtable. My current iteration is live at this link. The form does meet the basic requirements I have, BUT the design/UI is lacking, especially the "Select Your Session" drop down.Is there a way I can change the "Select Your Session" into a Grid View, List View Interface, or even a Radio Button List within this form? Context: I'm trying to accomplish the SignUp process on an Airtable form because in addition to giving people a list of time slots to choose from, it enables me to prefill the guest's application number on the form (and hide it from the guest). This means the guest's application will be automatically linked to their session when they submit the SignUp form.I don't know of any other way to accomplish this because, for example, an interface doesn't allow me to prefill the guest's application #. Ideas or input welcome! TIA,ML
Hi All! For the Gantt Chart view, does anyone know if there's a way to have airtable automatically adjust all dependent task start dates when the predecessor task is moved up (backward in time)? I see that airtable automatically pushes out all dependent tasks automatically if a predecessor task is delayed (this is great!) but if a task duration is shortened or end date is moved back, all of the dependent tasks stay exactly where they are. Is there a setting or bit of automation I can add to enable automatic date adjustments in both directions? This seems like a very basic feature for Gantt charts and doesn't quite make sense to have it only for updates in one direction but not the other! Jack
I am trying to build a more comprehensive product-tree type base where I can accurately keep track of Projects, Assemblies, Parts, attachments, and revisions. I want to have a parent-child relationship in that same order as well, but I don't strictly need to assign this attribute. The goal is to have some sequence number for an assembly or part, where the first few strings are based on their parent fields. I've found a sufficient workaround for the hierarchy by just linking tables and limiting to one field per record. Now I'm stuck because I can't limit my count or sum formulas to only be above the current record like I would in excel. For example, I have AssemblyA, AssemblyB, and AssemblyC.If assemblies A and B already have 5 parts each, when I create the first part for AssemblyC it should be in the format [Proj#]-[AssyC]-001. With autonumber the sequence would have jumped directly to 11 by now, even though this is the first part for AssyC. Has anyone found a way to implement this?
Hi all,I have an automation that needs to send an email to several people in one organization (the record is the organization). Is it possible to add more than one email address into the same field (Email? text?) rather than me creating 5 different fields that are all columns?
I have a form that i am sending out to my team members to understand how much time they anticipate they will spend on a project. I'd like to create a dashboard that shows in a bar chart how much time each member of the team anticipates to spend this week by project. So for example a bar should look like [----Blue----][--Green--][-Red-] with blue representing one project, green representing another, and red another. giving us the idea that the team member's time is 80% spoken for this week, with 30% going to blue project, 20% going to green, etc. The issue that I am running into is that the way that we have structured the form, the output table looks wide. so it looks like :Survey EntryName (link to project record)Survey DateProjects (link to another record)Blue ProjectGreen Project Red Project1Sarah Johnson11/20Blue Project, Green Project40%60% 2Javier Smith11/20Green Project, Red Project 30%50%3Charles Estevez11/20Blue Project, Red Project20% 70%In order
Hello! As I'm quite new on Airtable, I need some help on the general approach for the following task:I already have a table of products for my Webdesign Agency with prices per year and use this also to track by renewals.Structure like in this photo:Now, I want to have a table, where I can distribute the costs to my customer. I would need to assign products to customers and based on the numbers of customer assigned to a product, the cost per customer is calculated (Price of the product divided by the numbers of customers using this product = price per customer) and it should be displayed like in this Excel table I use currently:Honestly saying, I have no idea, if such a scenario could be done with Airtable or if I should use Excel instead...So my question: Is this possible and if yes, is there any tutorial available, where such a scenario is explained? Thanks in advance for your help!Cheers Peter
I want to find the sum based on my first metric Companies and within that a metric KPI such that i find the sum of all values of a single KPI within a company. For example, I want the sum of travel hours for a single company and also the sum of fuel used for a single company. What formula do I use.
I am trying to create a base/table to track promotional inventory on a website. There is a set amount of inventory at any given time3 Hero Images3 Banners5 TilesMy goalstrack which promotions we have running at a given time Track the usage of each promotional elementLimit usage of a given element if we are oversoldCurrently I have a table with the following fieldsNameStart DateEnd DatePlacement (Multi Select with each element)Details (Long Text)
Hi, new to airtable. I have several databases related to various types of inventories. I just want a simple interface to be able to select, for instance, a product. Then have the database properites for that product presented so I can edit them. For instance, adjust quanties. From the little bit of googling I have done it doesn't seem possible with airtable's built in tools. 3rd party tool implentations seems like a house of cards. I have tried this in Notion and it quickly becomes too complicated to be reliable. Are there any other ideas out there? Thanks
Hi all, I’ve been reading through a ton of different conversations about Airtable and recipe managers. and have found some amazing info on here. I’m currently a little blocked so maybe someone has more info on the following topic. Overall, I’m trying to create a database that has recipes where I can understand both the cost per recipe and the macronutrient breakdown for each recipe. Where I’m getting stuck is breaking down the nutritional values because some ingredients are in cups and others in tbsp. I’m trying to convert measures to grams but am having trouble connecting the conversion info to the recipe info. Generally my table is structured as follows: I have the following tabs within my doc Meals - it’s the meal planning tab Recipes - this is an overview of the recipes that feed into the meals tab Recipe Ingredients - this is where the recipes (in the recipe tab) get composed of all their ingredients Ingredients - this is a master list of different ingredients that cascade up
Hi,I am new to using Airtable, and I want to utilize multiple forms. The idea is to have a first form where, upon clicking a picture, it will transition to a second form, allowing the customer to input all the necessary information. Upon pressing a button on the second form, it should move to the third form, displaying quotations for the woods, including the pricing and quantity. These forms are intended for quotations of the product that the user can request. My question is: Is this functionality possible with Airtable? I am uncertain if a clickable image is feasible, so I need clarification on whether Airtable can support multiple forms, as described above.
Hey there, We are building a complicated form and we are wondering if it would be possible to break up the questionnaire into multiple pages so that we can offer the questions in smaller chunks? Do you have any insights into this?
Hi,As the subject line states, I am looking for a function within airtable forms that can allow me to change the available inputs based on the condition of a previous answer. The purpose of this, is to submit an attendance form of such.I am using a table consolidate all of the different departments as an individual record, and within that record, each employee is linked to their respective department. My intent is to use the form to submit a list of attendees, based on which department is involved. For example, I had a meeting today with Marketing, Finance, and Operations. On the form, there will be a linking field, where I input these three departments. Then I have an Attendee field, where I can link the individual attendees, based on the above selected departments. Is this possible? Is there a way around this?
Why do forms have to be only one column? I need to develop forms that are more complex than all the fields in one column. Any suggestions?
Is it possible to put the fields side by side? Like this… First Name _________ Last Name ________ instead of… First Name Last Name Also, is there a way to make the boxes next to each field smaller? They are really long (like above) Thank you for your help!! Robin
Good day We are looking to incorporate our finance weekly tasks and monthly tasks in airtable for the 52 weeks of the year. Every day there are deliverables. We report our meetings weekly on our output. How do we go about incorporating this into Airtable? I have tried the project management tool available but the problem is once the month is finished I need to edit the deliverable dates every month.
Hi there,I'm documenting a base I'm building. So I'm wondering which identifier quoting characters to consistently use to refer to bases, tables, and fields.I'm hesitating between backticks ``and curly brackets {}for fields, and I'm at a loss on what to choose for bases and tables.Any idea? Thanks.
Hi there,I need to create 3 forms that are pretty much exactly the same, but the link for each is inserted into a different flyer which is going to three different groups of people - each form is then linked to an automation which will catagorise the respondent for us so we know which form they have filled out. The problem is the 3 forms need to have exactly the same display name, but I want to differentiate them by name in my base view, which I am unable to do at present. Does anyone have a solution? Thanks!
I have a base that has multiple tables for planning our annual conference. We collected proposals using a form view (Call for Proposals table), which includes fields for speakers (Speaker 1 Name, Speaker 1 Email, Speaker 2 Name, Speaker 2 Email, etc). I am using FillOut for outside folks to update their submission. I am trying to pull the data for all speakers (Name and Email) into one streamlined table (Speaker Management). So how do I get Amy, Jessica, Miranda, Kristy all in one field with their email in another in a new table called Speaker Management? It should automatically update if changes are made to the original fields in Call for Proposals. This was there is always an up to date list of who our speaker contacts are. I tried Sync - but it won't let me do it on the same base. I am trying linked records, but that is still pulling the data into individual lists (Speaker 1, Speaker 2, etc). Help!
