Base Design

I'm working on setting up a system in airtable for generating project pricing/quotes. I would like it to have 3 tiers of organization where a project is built out of a grouping of "components" each of which is a grouping of "materials". The reason for wanting components is so that I can reuse these to build quotes faster by piecing together existing components as well as define a labor price for the assembly of a component. I've been able to create the basic structure for this just fine using intermediate line item tables to define the quantity of different materials in a component and quantities of different components in a project quote. I've set up a simple example base here for illustration: https://airtable.com/shrd46DwWkldZpeJvNow here is where I've run into the problem that I haven't been able to come up with a solution for. We have a database of thousands of products. Hundreds of them go on sale each month - and Airtable shows my designers what the % off or $ off is for each product.The challenge is that a product may have a different sale price from month to month, and we're often working on marketing for two or three different sales at the same time. Rather than creating formula fields for each sale, I'd like the designer to be able to tell Airtable which sale they're working on, and have it show the discounts for just that sale.Any ideas on how I could approach this? (The screencap isn't an actual solution - it's just one idea of what the solution might look like.) 

someone shared their airtable workspace to me, i was able to access it on my mobile but when i login on my laptop i can only see my workspacePlease can anyone help with this

My team is using AirTable as a CRM and a Business Development tool.We have a Projects Table, which tracks current and prospective projects in our pipeline, and a Meetings Table, which tracks our meetings with current and prospective clients in our pipeline. These two tables are linked since Meetings are typically associated with a Project, and Projects may require several Meetings throughout the course of the project. We have an Action Items table to track follow-up tasks. Action Items have a Description, an Assignee, a Status, a due Date, etc... Action Items may arise from Meetings, but they also may arise from Project/Pipeline tracking activities, so we want to be able to link Action Items to both the Meetings table and the Projects table. However, when we want to add a new Action Item inline for a row in the Projects table or the Meetings table, we always want to create a NEW Action Item. We DON'T want 'Find an existing Action Item" to pop up because that's really not how

Problem:I am a tabletop game designer.I am designing a game with many "units" that consist of 15 data points each (Name, attack value, etc).I am currently using Google Sheets, but one field of the data points (Ability) is in long form with bold, italics, etc and is very hard to read/edit natively.Solution:Is there a way to use Airtable to have a data set which you can pull up via a Form that allows you to search/find any of the data sets (by 'Name' preferably) and edit the content which updates the database?

Hey everyone! I have copywriters and designers uploading content to our bases on a daily basis. It seems as though previewing Microsoft Word documents (.dox extensions) is not available with the current Box app that Airtable uses to preview attachments. Or am I missing something? Screenshots below are from our interfaces. If you have any ideas how we can get these previews to show it would be greatly appreciated!

Happy New Year,I am brainstorming how to setup a national nonprofit with several locations around the country.  The national headquarters will need 10-15 chapters to report data such as client enrollment, services, and program indicators met on a monthly bases.Option 1:  Setup a base for each chapter (Decentralized) and then create interfaces for a person at HQ to pull reports.Option 2: Setup one HQ base (Centralized) and then several tables for each chapter for data reporting.  Admins at each chapter will have update permission for their tables in the base.Option 3:  Setup HQ base and then automate process that will import excel or csv files from local chapters into HQ base for tracking/reporting.If anyone has experience in this area , I would greatly appreciate any feedback as to which process could provide the least friction.  Also if there is a better option, please feel free to make a recommendation.Thanks a million!

Hello,I have 2 tables that I need to relate. These is regarding components in the field that are declared not working.The Tables:Ticket table: End User tickets about stuff not workingField deployedThe tickets have 2 statuses either "Open" or "Closed". I created a view for open tickets and one for closedI created a linked field in the Field deployed table to pull the info from the ticket field with a "Limit selection to a view" to the Open ticket viewFor some reason the column populates with all linkable items disregarding the "Limit Section View"any reason for this?

I have a Table with organizations. Each org has people attached to them via a People Table. Each organization has a status. One of them can be 'Contact The Organization'. How/where do I create a View to show me all the people I should contact, for all orgs. I want a grid view with columns to display Contact details such as Name, Email, Phone plus the org name they are associated with plus a few other org columns such as Status and Country.Insights are much appreciated. 

Looking to see if we can find out the history of how many times a single select option has been chosen by any of our team members in the past. I have something set up that I started in October to help with this but wondering if there is any way to see the usage for each option from April to October. 

HiIn my base I keep the record of members who have one or more cars in a base. There are two separate fields for the make and the model for car one and the make and model of car two.When filling in the form they select from a drop-down menu the make and model in each field of the car.Then if they have a second car in separate fields, they select the make and models.Now in the first cars make and model fields I have populated the drop-down menus as we have gone along, I added the second cars make and model fields later and as a result have not populated these with the relevant information.Is there away of copying the information across to populate the fields for the drop down menu in the second cars fields or a formula that I can put so when the information in the first field is entered it will automatically enter it in the second field.Many thanksRod

Hey friendsI have automation that transfers leads from an Elementor form to Airtable, but for some reason when someone writes down their number in a normal way (ie: 0526324302, an Israeli number) it changes the structure of the number in the system (adds a picture)How can you change the structure to be the same as how the lead wrote his number in the form?Thank you! 

I would like to group to 4 fields but the AT limit is 3. What is reason for that?

I am trying to track work done in a software program that has different Workspaces and within each Workspace there are Apps, that are different depending on the Workspace. I’d like to create a column with a drop down where you can pick the Workspace from a list . Then once the Workspace is choosen, in the next column, I’d like a drop down of options for the Apps related to that Workspace. I can figure out the Workspaces drop down but not then how to create different drop down options based on which Workspace was chosen. Is this possible?? Can I set up a different table of Workspaces and their Apps and link them somehow?

Basicly, i have a Job Creation Request PDF Form we use for customers to fill out and submit to us and digitally sign too. I was hoping it can be used to fill in data as they submit it. Then our tech can access it and add to it hopefully. Otherwise at least letting the customer fill out the pdf and letting us keep a copy of the submitted file, while filling out a table in our base would be great.

My sister is on a free account and she noticed her home screen changed. Please, please tell me this isn’t going to happon the Pro account. It’s so much less user-friendly. The icons are micro sized (which wastes a massive amount of space) and the icons don’t move in the order you want them (has to be alphebetically, etc). I absolutely LOVE Airtable and it makes work so much better but this is not an improvement. Can someone let me know if this is happening across all accounts? Thank you!!

My base should only be Eastern Standard Time, but it keeps defaulting to GMT.   The devices I use it on are all EST.   What would cause this issue?   - Wendy

Hi community,I have this problem : In a grid view, a table is sorted manually. After each opening, the order is kept.A script fetches the records of the table, and delivers them in alphabetical order, not in the manual order.I don't add any sort param - like 'sorts: [ {field: "someField"} ]' - I cannot figure out a 'handy' workaround... The option to read on a sorted priority field quickly becomes tedious, time consuming, and requiers a lot of energy...Thanks in advance if you can let me know how i can workaround this behavior.

I've been working on Airtable for a while now but I'm by no means an expert so I'm pretty confused about how to set this up for my boss 😞What I'm trying to do:Each client goes through an onboarding process that contains the same steps/tasks. These tasks have durations and overlap, in total can take up to 90 days.I'm trying to use a Gantt or Timeline view where I can set the start date for a client's onboarding process and then the tasks will auto-populate with the correct deadlines based on the start date. The tasks can be completed earlier or later than the deadline depending on the client's situation, and the subsequent tasks should adjust accordingly.I'm trying to view multiple clients' progress at the same time, which is why I was hoping to use a Gantt or Timeline view. Hello All,I have two base design options that I and coworkers are trying to agree on. I will like to make a comparison between the twoBase Design #1 Idea: Have one big base with all the data and third-party automations, then create views for different teams with specific permissions. If someone wants to collaborate, special permissions can be made and then deactivated after a set time.  Base Design #2 Idea: Have different bases for different teams. This is not currently working, but there is a fear that having one big base will not suffice for everyone's needs.  Can anyone provide pros or cons for both options?
