I wanted to share what I figured out looking for a way to run an automation at a scheduled time. First, create a helper table named Automation Trigger with 3 columns: Name (type: Single line text) Run At (type: Date, with time field included) Record (type: Formula, expression: RECORD_ID()) For each automation you want to schedule: Add a row with a unique descriptive name Add a view with a filter matching only the one record added above (Name is …) Add an automation: Choose trigger: When record updated Select table: Automation Trigger Select view: the one matching your automation intent Select the Run At field. Run test Add an action according to your needs Finally, the scheduling piece. You’ll need Integromat or Zapier. Zapier allows to schedule a task only at a selected hour. Whereas Integromat is much more flexible. For example, you can schedule an action at regular intervals. There’s a sound doing the rounds on TikTok of American comedian, Steve Harvey, laying out his formula for success in the realm of mens’ suits. He claims that from 5 colours of suits (matching jacket and trousers) and 3 colours of shirts, you could make 75 combinations because everything goes with everything else (subjective and outside the scope of this post). Thought I’d see if he pulled this number out of thin air or not and test my JavaScript at the same time. Here’s the base I made, using the web search function on attachments to pull in some pics and a scripting block to iterate through all the options and create the matching outfits. Airtable iOS app use url-scheme like: airtable:///tableID/recID You can use it in iOS Shortcut app for custom scenario, just open link with “Open x-callback URL” For example, I copy contacts from airtable to “google contacts” via Zapier and sync it with iPhone. Hi, We’ve been using AT for a couple years and would like to see the total amount paid to vendors per job. Currently, we have the following tables within a Base: Orders (1 record per job) Clients Vendors On the Orders table, each job includes the following fields: DOS Client Name Vendor(s) [multiple select field] (each job can have 1 to many vendors depending on scope) Client Invoice # (manually entered) Vendor Invoice amount Paid (manually entered and separated by / if more than one vendor hired) I would like to have a field that adds up the total vendor payments per record/job. This can be done by entering Vendor Invoice info into a separate table (Vendor Payments) or some other way that is simple/effective. My goal is for our AR person view our Invoice No. and all vendors associated with that Invoice No. in separate records in order to enter their invoice amount per record/Job. Thanks in advance Juliet

A while ago, my boss asked if it was possible to set up an automated tip of the day. His idea was to have an Airtable base with a list of tips and use Make to grab one each day and post it into Slack. I’d already come up with my own auto-numbering system in Airtable, and I knew this would be key to getting what we wanted. I set about it with the following goals in mind. Post only one tip each day. Keep track of the tips posted. Keep track of the tips ready to post. Make it simple enough for anyone to add a new tip. Make it possible to re-order the tips.
