Hi all, My name is Don and I’m a product marketing manager here at Airtable (for those of you I’ve had the opportunity to connect with already, hi again!). I wanted to share that we’ve published a blog post today outlining many improvements and iterations we’ve made over the past months to make it easier to create and collaborate in Airtable. For context, much of this work came from a desire to make our product simpler: A team of engineers, designers, product managers, writers, and well, marketers like me, have been spending time talking to our users about what frustrates or confuses them in Airtable. From there, we built a list of improvements we wanted to roll out to our customers. And today, you’ll see much of that work in Airtable—some of these updates you may have seen already, and some are new, but we wanted to share them all in one place. At this point, I’m guessing you’re ready to hear the updates: Easy add with a single click, you can now easily add automations, views, exten

Hi everyone! I’m Rotimi Iziduh and I’m the product manager working on various Core Surfaces here at Airtable. I’m super excited to share a set of upcoming updates that make the in-base experience easier to navigate, and improve the discoverability of the automations and interfaces features. Specifically, we are introducing a new top navigational structure that contains the below three tabs: Data: This is the default starting point of the old experience. As before, it is where you will review and edit the various tables and views that contain your data Automations: This provides easier access to automations that trigger various actions based on your underlying data Interfaces: This gives quick access to a visual layer to turn your underlying data and automations into apps that are tailored to your unique workflows To illustrate this, here’s a quick before and after snapshot: Before: After: We’re excited to launch these improvements and please keep an eye out for more exciting updates
New formatting options for long text fields are now available to everyone! That means you’ll be able to use block quotes Headers ordered lists, unordered lists (bullet points), and checkboxes bold, italic, strikethrough, and code formattingand more! Please note that in order to use the new formatting options, you’ll need to do the following: Open up the field customization menu Select the “Customize field type” option Pick the long text field type (if the field isn’t already long text) Switch on the toggle that says “Enable rich text formatting” Save changes (notice that the field icon changes as well) There are a couple of interesting new use cases that these new features open up that you might not have expected (for example, did you know that you can now input formatted text in forms?), and you can read more about them in this blog post: For The Record – 26 Mar 20 4 workflows that take advantage of rich text formatting Here's four of our favorite use cases for the new form
Hello! I hope the week is off to a great start. Here to share some exciting news about updates that were made to bulk field operations. Back in November, we released the ability to manage field permissions on multiple fields in bulk. Here are some of the changes you’ll notice starting today: The ability to select multiple fields, and hide them in one click. The ability to select multiple fields (up to 50) to filter by within a single table with one click, enabling faster filtering and customization of information. The ability to group by up to 3 fields with one click, for more fine-grained ability to categorize information. The ability to select multiple fields, and move them in one click. We hope that these updates make it easier for you to manage fields effectively and at scale, freeing up time for optimizations that accelerate process improvements. Hello! I’m Scott – a product manager at Airtable who worked on the development of document automator – the newest way to get Airtable data into formatted documents. What is document automator? Available to those on Pro and Enterprise plans, Document automator is a new integration with Google Docs and associated automation action that enables you to export formatted Airtable data directly into Google docs, where you can format and collaborate on that data to your heart’s content. Furthermore, because document automator is built into automations, you can use other automations like Slack or Email to automatically share the created document with others, fully automating the process of creating and distributing published reports or status updates. How can I use document automator? Document automator is perfect for creating point-in-time reports or status updates that can be shared with people who don’t have access to Airtable, when you want to editorialize around the data, or when
Hey everyone! I’m Helen, the product manager that looks after our Automations product here at Airtable, and I’m really happy that you all are finally seeing the navigation changes that teams at Airtable have been hard at work on. Alongside these updates, I’m also excited to share a series of improvements that we’ve made to Automations in this new navigation that let you focus on creating and editing automations while being able to reference the data you need and make it easier to change up the steps in your automation. Specifically, you’ll now be able to: See your full list of automations on the left-hand pane, similar to views in the data tab Open a table or view that you need to reference without leaving the automations tab Drag and drop actions to reorder them or move them across conditional groups Duplicate an action to easily reuse the logic Huge thanks to the community for helping us improve upon this product. We’re always striving to make the product better, so as you start us
On top of other releases this week, we have another exciting new feature - incoming webhooks for automations! With the new incoming webhook trigger you can connect Airtable with many of the tools and products that you and your team use (whether a third-party service or an internal tool). Normally, you’d have to write custom code and spin up your own infrastructure in order to handle webhooks, but now, whenever an event fires in another product, you can tap into the full power of Airtable Automations to handle it accordingly. How it works The incoming webhook trigger will create a unique URL that you can use to trigger an Airtable automation. You can use this URL with another service’s webhook configuration UI, or use it directly from your own custom code (e.g. from an internal tool). When Airtable receives a request at this URL, we’ll then trigger the automation that you configured (just like our other triggers). This enables you to integrate with services that Airtable doesn’t curre
As organizations innovate and become more complex, so do their workflows. That’s why we’re introducing tools to Airtable’s Enterprise offering that help you improve your workflows, maintain security, and manage your work at scale. You will be able to continue to improve what you’ve already built—and make sure the workflows you’ve built for your team keep pace with your needs. Admins can more safely manage Airtable use across the organization, while creators can manage large-scale changes in their base without disrupting their teams’ work. Capture more data & expand your workflows with increased record limits Your workflows rely on your data to function—so we’ve increased record limits for Enterprise accounts to help you build even more complex systems in Airtable. You can now add twice the records per table (an increase from 50K to 100K records) and 2.5 times more records per base in total (an increase from 100K to 250K records). Continue to power your most complex work with confid
The button field is now available for all users! Use it to trigger custom actions for a record—like scheduling calendar events, sending emails, creating custom invoices, generating reports, running scripts, finding stock images, or even opening other Airtable links. For more information on the button field and how you can use it, check out our launch blog post: For The Record – 25 Jun 20 Now available: button field Schedule a calendar event, send an email, create a custom invoice, generate a report, find stock images, or open a prefilled Airtable form—with just the click of a custom button. We’re especially excited about the potential applications of the run script action for button field, which is why we’re holding a scripting contest in our community forums themed all around scripts that take advantage of the button field. The contest winner will win $1,000! All submissions are due by Friday, July 3, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. PDT . https://community.airtable.com/t/scripting-conte
As we all know, linked records are a big part of what makes Airtable special. At the same time, we know they haven’t always been the easiest to use in the context of filters. Well, we have a new feature that’s been a long time coming! Starting today, you have the option to choose specific linked records within your filters. You have access to 4 new operators: “has any of…,” “has all of…,” “is exactly…,” “has none of…“ These new operators are also available within automations when you create a conditional trigger, as well as in interface designer (in both dynamic filter elements & statically in the properties panel for an element that accepts a filter, such as grid, timeline, etc). These updates are available for customers on all plan types and should be available later today, if you are not seeing these changes reflected, please try clearing your cache.
Hi y’all! The Cursor API is now accessible within the scripting block. You can use it to access the currently active table ID and view ID. This is particularly useful for removing the need for your users to manually select tables and views while running a script. Learn more about how to use it in our scripting block API documentation. Hope you all enjoy the new feature; happy scripting!
Hi all - I hope your week is off to a great start. I’m excited to share two new calendar enhancements that apply to both the view and the new interface element. Cover images: similar to the gallery and kanban views, calendar will now support specifying an attachment field and rendering the first image in entries. Customizable labels: similar to timeline and kanban views, calendar will also now support full customization of the fields displayed in entries, as well as their formatting Additional resources: Support article: Guide to calendar view Let us know if you have any questions or feedback! This will be fully rolled out today. If you don’t see the changes, please clear your cache.
Hi all - I hope your week is off to a great start. Wanted to share an exciting update from the Airtable team that as of today default automation limits have been increased from 25 to 50 automations :tada: This will be fully rolled out today. If you aren’t seeing the changes, make sure to clear your cache. Additional resources: Support article: Current limits I also wanted to share that the team is beta testing the ability for the community to subscribe to the Airtable What’s New base so that you can stay up to date as documentation is published, or in the case that a formal announcement about a feature is not shared. You can opt-in here and if you have feedback for the team on how to make this more useful, here is the best place to share it. We hope this is helpful in keeping everyone up to date and look forward to hearing your thoughts.
TL;DR: We’ve improved our sharing flow to make it easier for you to share bases and views with teammates. Hello everyone! My name is Sophie, and I’m a product manager at Airtable focused on helping users sign up and invite their teammates to join Airtable. After looking at our usage data and talking with users, we learned that our base sharing flow was complex and that many people struggled to invite their teammates. The UI was crowded, and users had a hard time understanding what their sharing options were and where they should start. To solve this, we streamlined the base sharing UI while maintaining how everything works so that your sharing options are crystal clear, but you still have all the functionality you need! You can now invite a user to the workspace, base, or a view all within the same dialog. These updates are now available to anyone who isn’t on an enterprise plan, and will be available for all enterprise customers by the end of the month. If you’ve got feedback, you ca
Hi everyone! My name is Evan and I’m a product manager at Airtable focused on helping our users build useful connections between their most critical data sources and processes. I’m excited to jump in and introduce our newest integration with Miro! We know that a lot of your work can also happen outside of Airtable, so we want to make it easier for you to connect work happening across tools. With this new integration, you can easily capture freeform ideas from Miro into Airtable and transform them into structured data that can be categorized and analyzed – and then plugged into your workflows. That way, you and your team can always stay aligned with the most up-to-date information and achieve your best work. To get started – Click the “+ Add or import” button inside a base and look for Miro under the sync source options. (You might have to mouse over the “More…” opinion in the menu.) We won’t be formally launching this integration until later this week, but wanted to share it here first
You can now add custom filter conditions to lookup, rollup, and count fields to limit which records are included in the results. Here’s how to do it: Create a valid lookup, rollup, or count field (if you don’t already have one in your table, you’ll need to create a valid linked record field first). In the field customization menu, turn on the “Only include records which match certain conditions” toggle. Specify the relevant filters for your use case. This also means that if you have been using helper formula fields as a workaround to achieve this same functionality, you can transition off those fields for a cleaner, clearer base! 🌅 Learn more about this new feature with the conditional counts, lookups, and rollups support article.
Hi everyone - As you may have noticed yesterday, we’re introducing new visual cues and functionality to help users successfully read, create, and troubleshoot formulas directly in Airtable. Some of these new formula editor capabilities include: Colorful syntax highlighting Parenthesis matching Multiline editing with the ability to fold multiline formulas Surface error when there are unbalanced parenthesis Surface error when there are blank space or miscellaneous characters between a function name and the opening parenthesis Formulas are complex and hard to compose, especially when they contain more than one function. We hope that these updates make it easier for you to troubleshoot your formulas and lead to fewer errors. You should see these changes reflected in Airtable today, but we can’t wait to hear what you think! Additional resources: Support documentation: Formula editor updates
Hey community! Today we are officially launching several brand new automation features to help you build more robust workflows. Automation trigger: at a scheduled time Automation action: find records Rendering records as a list One of the best applications for these new features is making an email digest, where you can schedule a time to send a list of records that match the conditions you set. To see how all of these features come together to build an email digest, see this support article. Below you’ll find a shorter summary of each new feature. At a scheduled time trigger The “At a scheduled time” trigger allows you to trigger (or run) an automation at a pre-designated date and time. You can choose to run at regular intervals (in hours or minutes) or at set time on specific days of the week. Find records action This action will look for records matching conditions that you can specify within the action settings. If a record that matches the conditions is found, you can add a fo
Hi all! We are excited to share that as of today, we’ve made it easier for you - and your team - to expand and edit records in Airtable. We’re making it easier to edit records while in the expanded view. We’ve increased the area around fields (including moving the field label to the left to save vertical space) in the expanded view for each record and made improvements to the activity pane. We’ve also made it clear when a field is editable in expanded view so your collaborators can easily make edits. We’ve added a persistent action bar so that common actions like changing between records, turning on comments, and the record title all stay in the same place, even as you scroll through the details. You can expect these updates to be reflected in your bases in the next two days. We’d love to hear feedback from you about this change, so please leave your feedback below!
Hi all - I’m thrilled to share that with the help of the amazing feedback from the community, the next wave of enhancements to the expand and edit record experience are here. We will be continuing to iterate on this experience, but some of the changes you’ll see include: The return of field icons and input borders Clearer disabled / read-only states Removed placeholder text Miscellaneous visual polish like larger gutters and updated container lengths Additional resources: Support article: Expanding records Let us know if you have any questions or feedback and we hope these are impactful changes!
Hi all - I hope the week is off to a great start. I’m excited to share that we have some exciting additions coming to Interface Designer this week :tada: Gallery Element in interfaces unlocks the ability for collaborators to view multiple resources, images, or other key information at once. The gallery element visually represents thumbnails of the information from a base in an easy to review display. The use cases are endless, but some top examples include: List of resources (for example presentations or PDFs) Team directory (can add a filter element to filter by team) Digital Asset Manager Asset overview for launch Grouping in Record View layout is powerful for triaging through records quickly, but with grouping, we’ve made it even easier. This feature is particularly useful for creators managing large data sets and need more filtering options so that their team can easily navigate to the most relevant information. You can now group and collapse sets of data, color code them, and h
